FC NYChrisG Should receive a yellow card, have evo seed points revoked, etc

I think you’re missing his point. The issue isn’t why he did it or if he has the right to do it. The issue is that a precedent has been set for purposely being non-competitive in tourney matches and that said precedent could apply to this issue. I didn’t see the match so I have no opinion on whether he should be penalized or not.

I will say that if the scene wants to continue to grow and get more sponsorships not only for players but for TOs, you can’t have people doing this. I’d be pissed if I was into KOF, watched all weekend and ended up seeing someone sandbag in Grand Finals. That’s a recipe for losing spectators, whether they’re in the venue or at home. Loss of spectators is going to make it harder to get sponsors. All that aside though, what happened to just being competitive? This isn’t a shot a ChrisG because as I said, I didn’t see the match - but do people have such fragile egos that they can’t take an L nowadays?

Also, I don’t know who said it, but yellow cards for those who don’t show up for their matches just might be a good idea.

This is super-relevant, thanks for finding this.

You make zero sense.

Proof that you are a sensitive little bitch who gets offended by what someone who is at the tournament, not at home, does when he climbs his way to Grand Finals, and then decides to have some fun and get some laughs when he picks random characters.

Proof that there are more self-entitled little assholes who think they “deserve” a good show, just because they put in the effort to click on a video stream and watch it.

Chris G got up to GF on his own terms, it was obvious since the beginning of the tourney that BALA was going to murder. Dude wants to have some fun, let him. Stop being such a sensitive little pussy

Boy oh boy, Spooky saying fuck you to wolfkrone didnt do anything but chris g not trying his hardest on kof will lose sponsors? come on bro.

I am into KoF and I found Chris G in GF surprising and both players going random select more entertaining than him getting mopped up.

Thats your incredibly salty for some reason opinion, but it isn’t the opinion of the people running tournaments. Its already been established that it is in fact NOT your right to intentionally under perform as a player in a major tourny, at least not if you want to go to EVO. Direct your 14 year old anger issues to the people running EVO, not me.

I don’t see where people keep getting the issue that I’m deeply offended by what happened…I think I pretty much kept my OP devoid of emotion.

BTW, this isn’t even close to being the same as the Justin incident of last year. Chris G still tried, hard, with the random select. It’s not like he picked random characters and started jumping around like an idiot. He took Bala down to his last character, and lost a very close match.

Now, please someone close this thread, this shit is getting pathetic.

Dude, I watched about 30 mins MAX of streams this past weekend, so I have no clue as to what you’re talking about.

And hasn’t anyone ever told you two wrongs don’t make a right?

"In our judgment, by not making a good-faith effort to win, Justin intentionally underperformed. As a result, he forfeits the prize associated with the EVO 2011 Tournament Series portion of this event: his placement points. In addition to this penalty, we are issuing a Yellow Card as is described in the Rule Enforcement and Disqualification section"

Chris G playing all random in KOFXIII , throwing a match because he has no chance , pretty much sounds similar to the way this statement is worded . But I bet people will still jump all over this and say they are not the same thing . Thank you Neogaf for the evidence  .

I don’t particularly agree with how Chris decided to fight Bala either, but here’s a thought: if you have such a legitimate problem with Chris’ handling of the situation he was in, why don’t you make it all the way to grand finals at a major and show him how it’s done?

THIS ASS CLOWN IS NOT MAJ :annoy:

That would be a logical argument if “picking a random team that you don’t know how to play” was the crime rather than “match fixing.”

When you’re the underdog and have no competitive motivation to try to win against insurmountable odds that’s one thing. When you’re the clear favorite, have already won or placed highly at numerous majors, and are playing against your friend and everything looks like foul play that’s another thing. It isn’t a fact that the motives are different… the scenarios themselves are completely different. It’s like if someone was thrown into a fight with Tyson in his prime and decided “well, I have no chance anyway so I’m not going to train and I’m going to show up out of shape” vs. Tyson himself tripping over his own feet at the opening bell at getting “knocked out” by the canvas. From a spectator’s point of view, they both look bad, but only one of them should actually be punished.

Yellow card Wolfkrone for whining about the crowd.

Can people stop saying this? The first people who get cheated of a good show are those who travelled miles to attend the tournament. Part of the joy of being at the tournament is the experience of being there when something extraordinary happens (insert Evo moment here).

Watching a cynically played grand finals is an insult to everybody who put money into that pot.

Not saying that this is what Chris G did (going random when you have no chance to win is a legit strat). But people need to stop using this stupid argument. Players should play to win in finals because its what all the other tournament attendees deserve. Plain and simple.

if I can play devil’s advocate, if you read a few lines above this

I don’t think these ARE the same thing, because the ruling was in reference to collusion with Noel B.

yellow card poongko for drinking redbull before the match.

WINNERS DONT USE DRUGS

Ok, that’s the second time somebody mentioned WK? What happened? All I know if that Sanford beat him twice in SSF4.

Hey now, don’t you dare refuse to pick and choose what rules/reasoning was applied to the previous situation. Everything in bold did not exist prior to your clever editing. This is ludicrous. Yellow card!
