Their motives for intentionally under-performing may have been different, but the motive is the same, and they’re both damaging to the scene.

Trust me, Chris G is tired. He plays in EVERY GAME. He won Marvel, got to GF in KOF, got to GF in MK, got 3rd or 4th in SFxT, played in AE. I am sure he was burned out by then. He went to GF by himself with nobody’s help. He already played against Bala and got bodied earlier in the tourney. I don’t understand why you can’t get this through your thick head that HE DIDNT CARE ANYMORE in KOF GF. He had other games to play.
He’s been doing this for like 8 years, he honed the art at CF ages ago.

I don’t really think that’s what’s being debated at the moment. I think it’s more about weather or not Chris G threw grand finals or something along those lines, and what Evo should do about it if anything at all.
Bala already beat the crap out of Chris G before grand finals, Chris G knew he didn’t really stand a chance considering he only picked the game up recently while Bala has been playing since the arcade version
Unlike in JWong’s case, the heavy favorite was Bala. Bala is to KoF as justin is to the Marvel series. Seriously, yes chris didn’t put in effort at the end but he knew he didn’t stand a chance having just played him earlier in tournament. Due to Chris playing him earlier and losing pretty badly him putting minimal effort in GF is not enough for a yellow card.
But I do wish Chris G would have tried harder, he could have learned from Bala, but I’m sure they played casuals after the event
JWong fought Noel on previous occasions and I believe they both knew who was the better Marvel player at the time, Wong obviously… but Wong played a janky team w/ phoenix point, he deserved the yellow card IMO
I bet Jwong wished everyone in the marvel 2 days was like Chris G. He probably could have won every EVO Mvc2 title if that happened.
