Tbh I thought the bobble head one was probably the most annoying/time consuming achievement in the game but maybe its just me. I got lost for a really long time looking for the luck one.
Melee build? Haha my friend’s character was Kenshiro.

Oblivion would be a fucking awesome game if they made it after Fallout 3, the capabilities… I do agree though, I like ES4 more than FO3
I was seriously thinking about 10 hours maybe less…
Maybe it just really comes down to if you like the Sci Fi theme or Fantasy theme. I for sure like Oblivion much more.
Re: melee builds
Get the Pyromaniac perk as soon as you can and find the schematic for the Shishkebab(Lucky sells it). Build this weapon and make sweet love to it. According to the Fallout wiki, it is the best melee weapon in the game, so much so that nothing opposes it.
Oblivion is just deeper. The world is more flushed out and living. FO3 seems flat and without depth. Every character in Oblivion feels more unique different. I don’t have any numbers on me, but it seems like oblivion has like 5 times the quests also.
Well, if I’m at 980 of 1000, that extra achievement will just piss me off. And I do want to play a completely different type of character, so it’ll be easy to get into it.
And I do have a shishkabab already. I got two. Doesn’t work well on some characters compared to the fisto! and the super sledge.
Only a few more weeks before we get Broken Steel, or at least until we know when we’re going to get it.
It’s only effective if you keep it in good condition and have the Pyromaniac perk. I intend to do that with my new character. I just wish those Fuckin’ Ants didn’t give me so much trouble at level three.
Skipping the news about Obsidian developing Fallout: New Vegas, there’s an interview about Broken Steel. No release date, but i love how the new flamethrower looks. Also, more Liberty Prime, hell yes.
Anyone still play this? I just found out once you do the Replicant quest or whatever its called you can’t get the special Plasma Rifle if you didn’t pick that option because the guy who carries it is unkillable even after finishing the quest. Which fucking sucks. Also, why is sniping manually (no VATS) so damn inaccurate, even when sneaking with a 100% CND Reservist Rifle and 100 in Small Guns?
Still, I love this game. The Terrible Shotgun is just too damn good, even if its essentially a melee weapon because of the ridiculous spread. The mesmerizer is just hilarious. This game blows the GTA series out of the water when it comes to satisfying, pointless destruction. Slaughtering those inbred idiots in the Republic of Dave just might be my new favorite pastime.
most guns have a spread so where you aim it, your shot might go somewhere else. i know there’s 2 guns with 0 spread so they go where you aim them and it’s Ol Painless which is found in a safe in the Republic of Dave. the other is Lincoln’s Repeater located in the Museum of American History. i believe there are a couple more guns with 0 spread when aimming, also the only problem with the 2 guns i just mentioned is that they have no scope.
another gun you might want to try out for non-VATS sniping is Blackhawk which can be retrieve after completing Agatha’s quest by bringing her a music sheet book AND YOU MUST REQUEST for a reward otherwise she ain’t giving you jack.
Yeah, Ol Painless and Lincoln are pretty much the only ones guaranteed to hit whatever you aim it at.
The Gauss Rifle is the only good sniper rifle too. lol The new auto one from The Pitt jumps too damn much.
The Pitt on Very Hard is pretty crucial in the Arena.
Find those rad-aways and frag grenades, the competition gets blown up before they realize I crept through the gate.
Speaking of non-VATS combat it is completely retarded how when you go from 1st person to 3rd person the crosshair moves but the bullets actually go where the 1st person aim is.
Thinking about holding out Broken Steel until I figure out what the perks are. Might just make a new character and start from the beginning… maybe
What?
Are you playing this on the xbox version then? Cause I’m playing it on the PC, and what I notice on the PC is that you can set it to thirdpersonshoulder view(RE4/5 style) as close as you want the view to the screen. Whereas the console versions just have it zoomed all the way out. I actually play using the shoulder view(it widens the view from the sides a lil bit so it’s like having a better peripheral, so it’s good for stealth).
But basically I haven’t noticed the crosshair moving like that.
yeah if you finish the quest like the game wants you to, then you only get one or the other…
but if you tell security dude hes a bot with the pass phrase and then ask him if you can kill the old dude, then he’ll hand over that bitchin rifle and send you on your merry way. AND when you get to the old dude, you can rat out the security dude and get your wired reflexes perk and then backstab the dude with a plasma shot right to the back of the head.
fallout is the shit.
played it for too many hours and im on my nth play through. decided to go balls to the wall for this one and got 3 ranks of swift learner asap. also playing on very hard but been doing that since day 1. swift learner + well rested + dead deathclaw = 120+ XP!! its pretty sweet and satisfying. im also trying to avoid using stimpaks since they make the game so easy (mash hotkey for god mode). eating shitty food and drinking pissy water is dope. maining explosives in this one with demo expert perks. killing groups of talon mercs, super brutes and whatever else with a well placed salvo of 1-2 grenades is too sweet; bodies and limbs flying everywhere, its like my birthday!
and about oblivion, my friend bought me oblivion for my birthday since i never played it and hella loved f3. i have to say that oblivion is quite an excellent game too. logged in 100 hours before there was a day i didnt play it. dope game, but the grind becomes a bit too evident and the rewards dont get any better. im also one of those people who just has to grind out the +5 or at least i did for the first 10 levels.
also, i did some ridiculous stuff while escaping the sewer in the beginning. once i reached the gate and saw that you could change your major skills and keep the skill ups you received in the sewer, i went back and made sure that all the magic skills were at least 25 before i left so i would have a spell to spam while roaming from each magic school. took HOURS and this was before i discovered holding your shield out while casting makes it 2x FASTER. my magic skills were all minors so i could spam without worry of leveling up too.
closing down oblivion gates in like 2 minutes is dope as hell. naming items is fucking great too, “bitchtanian blade,” “the king taco touch,” and “areyouken!” were some favorite heavy hitters.
Are companions worth it? I was thinking of recruiting Star Paladin Cross since I hear she’s a great battle partner on top of being so fucking sexy.
Its the same for 360 but when you go from 1st to 3rd view the crosshair moves slightly. Its inaccurate because the bullets are still going to where the 1st person crosshair was.
I’d say all of them are worth it except dog meat. His hp sucks and he always needs stim packs. You can combo him with someone else though.
when Broken Steel hits, there’s going to be a perk called “Puppies!” where when Dogmeat dies there will be another to take his/her place.
I think I’m going to start my game over again and make my character a CQC specialist with beastly-ass Endurance, Strength, and Charisma and bottom-of-the-barrel Agility and Perception. Intelligence…I guess I need Intelligence more than Charisma, granted, but I really like to role-play in these sorts of games, and my character is always the same. Out of battle she’s a diplomat and really sweet and shit, and in battle she rushes right the fuck in and fucks up everyone’s world, usually with either a melee weapon or a shotgun.
Honestly, I’m not the biggest fan of VATS in the world. I like my close-up guns, yeah, but I much prefer melee weapons, especially the Shishkebab.
For those complaining about the third person in the 360, dunno if you know but you can change the zoom by holding down the third person button and using the right stick.
