Thats the problem I have with a lot of the people SCREAMING about not being happy with the ruleset evo had. I wasnt happy with it either, it was a shitty compromise attempt between two working rulesets (which ended up working just fine, btw). Thats why I made a separate thread for people who were there and people who were not. Its hard to value someone’s input on the same level when they probably are not going to show up even if you 100% do what they ask.
Bringing it up as an idea? Not bad. Putting the rules out and saying “FINAL EVO RULES LIST WE HAVE A CUSTOM STAGE” isn’t “bringing it up as an idea”.
And I’ve wanted to go to Evo every year since 2004. I only got to go once (in 2005). Usually money gets in the way. This year was no different (it was either this or girlfriend going to Ireland, and that was way more important to me).
accually I think having the food recovery items aka not heart/tomato, is competely fair and sometimes wonder why you outright ban them. We are using all items off right now except weak food (ppl still whine about it O_o), so we can get all the CD’s cause we are on a new wii now, and its accually really fun, and I enjoy it alot, unfortunatly it makes matches a little longer :(, but I agree curry NEEDS to go(most annoying item in the game damn good too).
and screw MLG they tried to make halo 3 like halo 2 when it was a different game, kinda simlar to some ppl with melee and brawl if you liked melee or H2 better go back and play that one instead of trying to conform the new one too play like the old one. The only MLG H3 rule I like is BR start(but I would still prefer pistol start), and accually having more than maybe 3 weapons on the map.

I personally still dislike many items in brawl, but I far prefer items in brawl to what happened when you had items in melee, mainly cause it so much easier to grab items out of the air and what not. I don’t think I will ever like smash ball, and Im always preplexed on why smashballs=legal, phoenix = banned, in many tournies phoenix is at most 1 death and can be dodged and guess what everyone uses it the same way, and its tricky to collect, I think its one of the fairer items in the damn game but most ppl say blah blah blah its unfair.
call me a scrub, whatever, but items in brawl at a competitive level is just annoying and should be banned.
imo items should be removed to next years evo. the items rule goes against the agreement that the competitive circle has, and it’s just stupid that evo went against them. i think it was highly unprofessional and a lot of european players who wanted to enter evo, just didn’t go because getting to america is fucking expensive (shit, i even pay three times more for gas per gallon in norway than anyone in america does even with the, relatively, small increase in price you’re having. i even pay 100$ per game for my wii or xbox because shit is fucking expensive here) and the ruleset just basically sucked. i and two friends from france had plans to travel up to Las Vegas, but paying a ridiculous price just to play in tournaments we don’t like isn’t really an option at all. and for the record, before anyone comes and just tries to call me a non-fun-smash-*** or something, i’ve been in tournies with items on and out of 30 participants, these tournies actually had problems with people ditching them because of items, maybe two or three might thought that items was a good idea.
the smashboards’ recommendations for tourneyrules should be the ones in use, because they are the closest to any competitive circle around the world for smash.
keits rules should therefore not be used in serious competitive play. item’s in general, not counting individual characters’ projectiles and such, adds an uneeded luck variable to the gameplay.
and for the record again, my opinions are not related to ken losing to cpu at evo2k8. cpu seemed like a great player and i bet he could’ve beaten ken without items aswell. so don’t get me wrong, people.
just my two cents.
oh, and one more thing…
they had cvs2… and not guilty gears at evo2k8? they went with a game that has a mediocre following at the time and is boring to watch aswell instead of guilty gears? just thinking about it makes me chuckle.

CvS2 isn’t that boring to watch, and I believe the year before there were some issues with the guilty gear players so they didn’t have it at this evo.

I’ve been in tournies, both items and off, and i even posted a fucking exsample of tournies where the players were left not liking the tourney because of items.
i don’t like items in competitive play, but i do use them with friends and i think it’s fun casual. but when i’m in tournies, with or without prize money, the only odds i want against or for myself is the matchup itself. i main Ness in brawl with GaW as my secondary, and ness really hasn’t got a whole lot of matchups in his favor either. but still, i’d want to have items off and rather rely on my playstyle alone than external helpmeasures. because those can be easily abused by them as they can by me.
so please avoid posting crap like that which doesn’t present any arguments other than that you’d like to present yourself as a douche.
/facepalm at the last like 10 posts, jeez guys, I mean I agree with pinkhat in a way despite my hatred of smashboards,(cause 95+% of them are scrubs), they DO have the biggest community of tourny fags, but I personally did mess around with keits rules(removing like the heart/max tomato) and it is fun and pretty fair, and better than the evo rules :D, but I still prefer no items, but both are valid ways to play, but the fact of the matter is MORE ppl who would go to tourneys prefer no items, so it is in a big tourneys interest to run it without items if they want to make more money.

I am not trying to make anybody laugh. =/ It irks me that people have the mindset of people being complete idiots if they prefer items off. I actually agree with this. Any mention of Evo should be closed (I suggest that to item thread too but people want to learn that stuff here) since both sides can’t stop from being stupid (including me unfortuantely :shake:).
Umm, a lot of us here have said that both items on and items off are viable ways to play. We talk shit about SWF (not literally all of them, but the vocal anti-item people) because they don’t accept items play at all. That’s why the arguements pop up all the time.
It’s not that the arguments exist (After all, working out and understanding differences is the core of discussion), it’s really more that these arguments get heated, then taken personally and all you have is yelling back and forth O_o;.

often times they will refuse to accept any other play style other than the one they use, like top tiers only kinda crap, or BR(halo) only, or only 1 rule type.
