Idiots: People who think tournament-goers have less fun than themselves, despite spending more time and money on the game than said casual would ever.
Also, I’m sorely disappointed to see how this is now 100% SRK vs SWF. People are actually calling items-off Brawl SWF-style Brawl. This is just getting silly.
It’s getting silly to you because you find it shocking that anyone could ever disagree with you and the other demi-gods in the Smash Back Room. That’s what this is, it’s SRK vs. SWF. You wanna know what I think? I think that that representatives of SWF need to go back to SWF where they belong, and let us do our own thing rather than attempt to monopolize SRK.
Wow. That is quite scathing for what was a rather neutral post. And way to put words in my mouth. Is there a reason you’re acting like a complete ass and overacting to this, or is that just what you’re like normally?
Way to dodge my statement. Sorry that you don’t have a response to it.
What statement? You just said a bunch of shit that wasn’t true. Here, I’ll break it down for you:
You know what this is? Its a blatant lie. Why are you assuming you know how I think? Here is the funny part: You don’t.
Because people, like yourself, are making it to be like that when it doesn’t have to be at all.
After that? Not really, no.
Ohh, so wherever I go I’m a representative of SWF? Thanks for letting me know that. Too bad it isn’t true.
Who the fuck is trying to monopolize SRK? Is that how you see this?
And there you go. Everything you said can basically be boiled down to “I have a huge fucking stick up my ass, and I refuse to think calmly or logically because that is beyond me at this point, which is obviously other people’s fault rather than my own.”
Next time try discussing things like a rational human being. Who knows, maybe it’ll come in handy.
All I know is that this retarded debate, which was instigated by you and your kind, has led to Smash going from one of my favorite games to a game I’d rather slit my wrists than look at twice. You can stay on your pedestal and play your stupid little passive-aggressive game, and I’ll move on to bigger and better things. Your closed-minded ways have lost you a supporter. Congratulations, little boy. I hope you’re proud of yourself.
…Okay. So now I’m closed-minded. And a little boy. And I apparently instigated the items debate.
Thanks for reassuring me that your opinion doesn’t matter in the least. You’re my favorite kind of forum user: The kind that nobody cares about.
Also, I’d love to point out the hypocrisy of you calling me close-minded, but I feel that derailing this thread further into personal attacks isn’t a good direction for it. So I’ma head off to bed now.
You can do what you want. In a rare twist of fate, I owe you an apology. I shouldn’t have went off on you. You and I are in the same boat in a way. You seem almost as annoyed by this items vs. no items debate as I am. To be honest, I’m like this…can’t we, you know, do both and stuff?
Yeah no offense Panda but the SWF community (not every single person, but the overall mentality I’ve come across) has turned me off to the game for now. I was set on playing both styles and becoming really good in both but the whole debate wore me out. I’ll just stick with SC4 for now since the community has been way more solid out here. I will start playing brawl again at some point when I feel I’ve taken a long enough break from the BS.
I feel kind of bad since I was doing really well in norcal tournaments too.
Items make the game more interesting. They don’t reduce skill just because they’re random or powerful.
Some of the biggest competitive games in the world are random, like poker and Magic, which are both based off the random drawing of cards, yet the same individuals still win consistently. Hell, even ST is full of random factors (damage, dizzy, input windows).
As far as the power level of some items and final smashes go, they’re still pretty weak compared to other fighters. A round in smash has several stocks, so even at a mere 3 stocks, one stock is a third of your life. Compared to 80% damage from Balrog/Chun-Li supers in ST, 70%+ SA3 Yun combos in 3S, and pretty much most of GG and MvC2, 30% is pretty poor. Basically, Smash has a cap to the amount of damage is possible in one go.
Also, when you remove all the powerful stuff to try to keep the field level, it exagerates each character’s BS, like DDD/Falco chain grabs, MK’s d-smash, etc. Since you can’t remove the powerful stuff from the characters themselves, all you’re doing is making everyone else weaker. I’m sure MK would still be ludicrous with items, but everyone else sure stands a better chance if they can use items against him. Not to mention his FS is one of the worst in the game.
Yes, items can kill really, really quickly. Why is that a bad thing? ST matches are pretty damn quick, too, and Brawl can always increase the stock.
In one post you’ve basically covered every pro-item argument that has been recited dozens of times before and disregarded. Sorry, but other than the people who already fully agree with you, this is mere noise.:shake:
Your thread necromancy is superb. Care to teach me how you do it?
should probably start with a chant…something along the lines of ‘Naaaake snaaaake codooobra coooobraaaaa’ should work.
Hey, if it’s on the first page, it’s fair game. It’s not my fault this board moves slowly.
