EVO Pools Highlights/Upsets/etc

lol “sol cal/west coast bias stream.”

Ha Ha!

Actually…I’m VERY disappointed with how the brackets are done. Look at this, all WC/WC and EC/EC matches. Hell, I don’t even care that I missed EVO that much…I might have played someone who I play against at home, judging by the way this went.

For example, they should just take something like Alex Valle vs Shizza and Henry Cen vs Rico and float their matches. LI Joe vs Ryder float to Tatsu vs Online Tony…and so on. I’ve seen a lot more of this during bracket play, as well.

Ryan Hart got eliminated by Perfect_Sin…a VA Dhalsim player.

WOWOWOWOWOWO just OWOWOWOWOWOOQW

JR RODRIGUEZ!!!

how did combofiend do?

did mago, rf and kindevu show up?

combofiend didnt go to evo
Mago is there but didnt participate, i think i saw him there sitting on the floor with tokido.
rf and kindevu didnt show up.

It’s a big world. If people are in the same zip code, I believe they avoid each other. I suspect they don’t do zip code banding though (adjacent zip codes), although that’d be an interesting/fun challenge.

How did Ryan Hart and Zak Bennett do? Any UK guys still left in the tourney?

Justin.tv
Quality sucks, but it is better than nothing. Rest of the matches are on the same channel.

This is not possiable Mago just left China today.
He was there for a tournament so it takes around like 1x hrs from China to fly to Vegas.
Mago couldn’t be there!

Oh jesus, i saw some dude next to tokido with an asian look, glases and a long face, it looked like him, my bad.

Lol why would mago go all the way to evo…to watch.

Once the lag stopped I’ve really enjoyed the stream this year. Some of my observations so far:

  • No button checks on screen is GREAT

  • Really good commentry team for the most part. S-kill is an epic commentator as always. I like the way James Chen and ski give insights into players strategies

  • Why aren’t the FULL results so far ANYWHERE online? I know this is the biggest evo yet, but this is 2010, surely these results were all being recorded somewhere anyway and someone could just upload them to the evo site?

  • eg to the above, I only caught one of Sabres matches where he was absolutely beasting on someone with his v. impressive Cody. Bit of a bummer to find out he was since knocked out, as I fancied him to cause some major upsets

  • Why no Poongko again this year? ;’( I know he’s not the best player in Korea anymore but he’s still one of my favourite players to watch for balls to the wall rushdown

Final note… there were some pretty poor players on the stage yesterday. I woulnd’t normally diss anyone who’s up there (I’m from the UK so it’s not so easy me getting there), but blankas spamming ex balls, and ryus jumping all over the place mashing lp DP and not being able to block cross ups? Jeez.

I think Poongko plays Starcraft now?

Yeh, with all the technology about, there is no reason not to have a live pools/bracketing system on the Evo website. All it takes is someone to type results into a spreadsheet program, which I assume they would have had running at the venue anyway.

Poongko plays Starcraft?! Where did you hear that? :-/

Glad to hear Gamerbee is still in it, one of the best, if not the best Adon in the world.

All Koreans play Starcraft silly.

Just for the people complaining stream is showing SoCal only: The stream people have absolutely no control on who gets to be on stream. Pool leaders decide on big name matches and those dudes just report to stream station.

Invitation + exhibition matches maybe?

Btw was fun to see Laugh jumping over and over to Sabin’s Sim, even the pro players are eager against Sim.
