Evo North: The Midwest Championships THREAD

This is true. Gas is gonna be shitty taking the trip to and from everyday (and the tolls). If anyone’s looking to room with a 3S player, let me know. I’ll throw some bucks on the Room, Pizza and Beer. Maybe I’ll get lucky and just have someone house me.

So people can still play the others games when tournaments are going on? Like the machines that aren’t being used.

also…who needs a room buddie???I’m up to share a room with anyone, just don’t be a psycho.

We might have some extra room in our hotel room. (Also all 3s players :stuck_out_tongue: ) We won’t know until Friday, so if you talk to me then, I can let you know.

oh noes, another grid player!!!??!?

some people at dennis’ swear by that game…ugh!

Ha, I own those guys, even after not playing for months, and not remembering my usual codes.

I’d love to see that ownage.

ugh…codes.

I’m going to need a room as well. I play all games at least a a decent level (3s is my

main).

P.S. Jeron when is the Vampire Savior tourney going to be held. If you need a copy I

got them. Hit me up.

Ooh Vampire Savior tourney?

ahh memories…I wish I played that game seriously, but with who? hmm I might want to play in that tourney…

I thought the $70 deal lasted only until a few weeks ago?

Yeah, the $70 deal is done, but it’s not THAT much more.

I am bringing a limited number of PS2/3 Converters for $12 and some Street Fighter PS2 pads by NubyTech sealed in box for $10 each, as well as a couple of Smart Joy Frags for SNES, PS2, and XBOX for $10 each. Get em before they go at EVO North!

lol u selling these or u forcing people to buy ps2/3 converters in order to compete? I would hope u have a few extra for people to use. If not, can i get on the list for the ps2/3 converter lol

j-cole

ps- so, due to unforseen circumstances, im out of a room for evo north. Is anyone out there down to split a cost? Perferably a room that doesnt already have 20 dudes up in it =P hehe

yo cole. i’ll crash with you. You can teach me ST.

Derek you know I kid…but FT was still mid tier at best arcade wise

Top tier overall:

Diversions(best comp in every game until management thought they was bigger than the ppl who came from everywhere)
Nickels
FC
FT(good back in the day for mk comp not much for everything else)
Dennis place(good for late night gaming…not good for avoiding “special” people
HIP(sadly an arcade that was cut down just when things was looking up =/ RIP)

Yea but at FT you could go pig out a McDonalds Burger King or Popeyes Chicken if you wanted. Nickels you gotta walk almost a mile just for subway.

Not to mention Nickels is a 2.5 hour Metra ride from the southside.

wth? there’s fast food all around nickels.

I know what’s ‘around’ Nickels. I just mentioned those food places near FT because they were just baby steps away.

Cole: Those are for anyone that just wants to get one. There may or may not be converters available, I have no idea, anyone know if they were at EVO East?

Juicy G: what’s FC and HIP?

When I was living in Chicago, the best places for comp were Diversions (always was), Super Just Games, and Gala North in Carol Stream. The Gala West was not too bad, and Friar Tuck’s was just that, good for MK comp only. Times Square and Dennis Place were not bad for everything else, though. I miss those days when there were 4-5 arcade (actual arcades) in the city. You don’t see that anywhere. Dennis Place had three locations, and the one on Clark and one on Belmont, along with Times Square really gave Chicago that “edge” when it came to places to play.

:…(

makes me sad about the death of arcades

i used to have one really nice tilt and a decent namco arcade here but both are gone.

even the one in champaign is gone too

Pretty much…

btw FC and HIP = Ford City and Harlem and Irving Plaza.

Oh, I remember Ford City from Wavenet, but never went…

what about Namco CyberStation in Golf Mill, that still around?
