nagata, its a pain in the ass to get the boards needed for cvs2. last year we were supposed to have a couple boards and it fell through last minute at tourney time. then we were stuck with 1 cabinet, luckily, there wasnt much cvs2 action last year, cuz that woulda sucked playing on 1 cab
I say we bring back CVS1 on the scene. That game was so friggin beast. 10 minute matches, endurance, no air blocking, roll rising tackle…instant classic.

Yaris will not be there, CVS2 has to be console as much as I hate it, but we don’t exactly have $500 boards and time and switcheroo games for the thing.
People are going to complain if it’s console, arcade, sticks, playing buddies; etc. Just get used to the sticks beforehand and practice is all I can say!
I take it as a “no.”
Kobayashi: Should be in 2 weeks or so, I sent them off, but I don’t think they will have anything in until the week of the tournament.
As long as i can get some practice in with them.
Also, the timeing from arcade to ps2 is nowhere near as bad as not being able to super effectively because of a stick. Ive lost matchs on arcade because i thought i was blocking low when i really wasnt (on 360s respectively).
I just hope the ultimates are not as bad as ive heard although ill take a switch stick over a shitsixty anyday.
Humbag: it’s all relative from person to person. I think trying to switch to console after playing arcade exclusively for years IS a bigger issue that you think.
You will be able to block fine on Ultimates. There is a huge area for the corner for blocking. I’m one of the biggest 360 naysayers you will find because of the inability to find corners consistently for many players. You will not have this problem with Ultimates.
As stated before, it’s an issue with preference. The sticks will work, some players will not like them, some will complain. If we had 360s, you would complain. If we had Comp Sticks with Medium Springs, most likely those would break, and I and some others I know would complain, with Ultimates, you might complain, others might complain. No console or Japanese, more will complain. It’s going to happen at every tournament no matter what. Everyone has preferences now, but since the Ultimates were basically THE stick used in Street Fighter cabinets for years and years, it only seems fair to go back to them for once.
As you can see, DSP likes them

if its going to be on arcade, we gotta go with switches. 360s are complete ass - look what happens when I can actually block - night and day between final round and evo east. 360s are so imprecise and shitty, and if you don’t install them perfectly straight you’re doubly fucked. I prefer jap sticks but ultimates will be fine - you don’t want competition, those break like crazy.
by the way jason, I already talked to sabre and ill be there thursday. if you need any help with stuff let me know. I get the feeling mwc is going to have a huge boost in attendance this year since its an evo qual now.

Good news for people worried about passport issues (coming from Canada):
In my post, i was just giving my opinion. I got more negative feed back then I thought, but at least people where reading it. I wasn’t trying to paint the picture as everyone and their mothers where using pads, and I’ll admit, that many, many players prefer sticks (but their own sticks). My personal grips wont change a thing. But, when i get to evo north, I’m going to bring my ps2 and tv and do some casuals with anyone that brought their own controller. They wont count for anything, but at least i can have fun in the games that i like. I’m Grateful that cvs2 is console and ill take what i can get, but i was just giving my observations and opinion. Some newbs and pad guys might agree with me, and many more will disagree, but that is what i was thinking. And their is nothing wrong with that.
And for those Arcade junkies who complain about having to play their console sticks between there legs; I have a solution. Its called a table. You can use the table to put your stick on it, and play as you would like your at the arcade. You might want to even pull up a chair and sit down! (something that you can’t do at an arcade) It might help Arcade junkies, but adding a table wont solve my problem :P.
(Note: this is a sarcastic joke done light-heartedly with the best of intentions. I have already pissed off enough arcade guys, and this is just a joke. You got your problems too, and I sympathize with you)
