I don’t think you’re losing a lot by banning a god tier character. There are some ridiculous aspects to Akuma that people have pointed out/demonstrated.
Any ruling on taunts? Some, like Fei’s, go under fireballs and such, others go over lows. Allow them? Ban them? Whatever them?
I guess I should clarify. I was talking about the unlockable taunts, not the defaultly available taunts. If the console characters are allowed, then are the console taunts going to be allowed?
Maybe the taunts are so insignificant that it they don’t matter one way or the other. I didn’t pose this question necessarily for SF4’s sake, but for the sake of future games. Now that Evo is moving away from arcade-purest rules, questions like these should be asked early so that they can be dealt with early, or at least thought about. What if Tekken 6 has console-only Move-Items? If we ban them there, are we going to come back to SF4 and ban the console-only taunts? We are allowing the console exclusive characters, but what about other console exclusive content? What if Soul Calibur 5 has console-only stages? What if a character has a sick combo on these console-only stages? Console-only glitches?

^^^ Yes. To date we haven’t seen anyone using busted personal actions to win any tournaments. When that starts to happen you might see something. Personal actions in SF4 make it a bit easier to get into your opponents’ heads, them being cancelable and all, but I doubt any random invunerabilities are going to make a huge difference. It’s not roll canceling.
To be honest, I dont think ANY of the personal actions will be unlocked at Evo.
Out of curiousity, does the Uber-Save-File-of-Doom have all colors unlocked?

Just to point it out… the extra taunts aren’t “console only”.
You can purchase them in the arcade via the same system that you can purchase the alternate colors. Obviously this option doesn’t exist for American arcades, but it’s that its a disability but more of an inability.
Personally, I just don’t think the extra PA’s warrant the extra time it’d take to unlock them. I’m aware of their hitbox altering properties, but still, it’s just not that big deal unless someone makes it one imo.
So the reason they probably won’t be there is just because they won’t, not because they can’t. If you could bring a memory card and load them, it’d be no issue.
Oh well Capcom at least you were close on this one… and for goodness sake can I get a goddamned palette swap option already damn its 2009.

Stick Rules
What exactly are the rules for sticks and controls at EVO? I know that programmable sticks and pads are banned. Are shortcut buttons (eg 3P, 3K) allowed? Are custom sticks allowed? What if one was to make a custom stick with an unorthodox button layout?
Shortcut buttons are allowed and have been for years. Those parts of the rules aren’t up yet(?).
Custom sticks are fine. Most people use relatively custom sticks anyways.
Ugly sticks (random layouts) are fine.
If all I have to do is top 8 to have leggings and Safari Blanka, no problem.
im actually still looking for an answer to get all those to all consoles, so i might have the problem fixed before evo, so keep your hopes up.

Alternate costumes would be pretty hype, but what about those of us who want to use different colors for the original costumes, such as my ever-faithful green qipao for Chun-Li?
yeah im looking into a workaorund to get all colors, taunts, and alt costumes on all machines, but sony isnt making it easy.
