Pay a bunch of monkeys and midgets to do all the trials. Anyone can press 3p repeatedly.
Just to clarify on SC4…Vader not banned? And will Yoda be on the console?
I un ignore you for 5 seconds and I’m already reminded why I’m just going to re ignore you. Final Round got canceled when my accociates husband died. Some of us have big boy jobs and responsibilities. Ticket to EVo and Hotel room are already booked. If only I could get my leggings.
You did it with Zangief too, huh?
Yeah lobelia, I’ve been to a number of events you were ‘definitely’ showing up at and I’ve never once seen you. No room to talk on this subject.
correct
“2. The same reason why EX characters are banned; they haven’t been beta tested at all, and they’re not selectable in arcades. And yes, I know Evo is a console tourney, but precedence has already been set in some games that have been out for a while already (i.e. obviously no Gill in 3S, etc.), so it doesn’t make sense to allow those two characters in a game that has been played competitively since late 2006…”
I was under the impression that a ban of a character would only be made if the character was proven ‘too good’, like akuma in SF2HD. Seth is Okay in SF4, and Vader / Yoda are okay for SC4, but Kliff / Justice aren’t okay for GGAC+? I don’t understand.
Considering the US version of AC is bug free (to my knowledge), what is the point of using AC+ if no kliff or justice?
Sorry if I sound ignorant, but I really am curious about this.
Because they’re not regularly selectable characters. Just because it’s a console tournament doesn’t mean that every character in the game is playable in tournament. Justice and Kliff have NEVER been legal, ever since GGXX. Does that mean they won’t EVER be tourney legal? No, it just means that there are enough people out there that don’t want them to be playable, so them’s the breaks.
There’s no single rule or any specific precedence that dictates the rules for every game. We’re a community and make decisions as a community and just like every other community, majority rules (in most cases). You’re more than welcome to run your own fighting game tournaments but you’re going to see a lot of frowns and a lower turn out when you’re not catering to the majority or at least what’s easier. You don’t see any reason why those characters should be banned when most people don’t see any reason for them to even exist, much less be playable.
We all understand your argument if not agree with you. Why are Kliff and Justice banned? I woud say “because they’re not even in the game”. Your argument would be “neither are Yoda and Vader” and I would then reply (and this is important) “because most of the people who have ever played that game have ONLY played it on a console, which is why they’re now available on both systems via DLC”.
Anyone want to add anything else?
It’s lately been something of a debated subject for the GG community. Personally I feel that without testing them in a competitive setting, we can’t say that their broken. It’s very likely that they are not nearly as strong as the current S tiers for GGAC, Testament and Eddie, seeing as how they actually DID get some balance changes (for instance, Kliff’s 6P is no longer fully invulnerable and is now throwable). Regardless of this, many people don’t feel their balanced enough, and that suddenly including them will throw off the general balance of the game too much. I suppose their worried about something like Akuma in ST happening, where he was just too strong and was not designed to really fit in with the rest of the games gameplay.
I’ve heard of some people suggesting holding small tournaments including those two to see the outcome and seeing their strength in a competitive setting. While this is a good idea in my opinion, perhaps Evo isn’t the place to test this, or perhaps it is. They were the first people to try Brawl with items on, so it’s not beyond the grasp of the tournament at all. Ultimately, it’s up to them, and how the community feels about it. People want to win, and if they haven’t gotten enough experience fighting those characters, they might feel like they’ll be shortchanged if their included. So while it’s unlikely EVO will include them, they may appear at some point in tournaments…
Ok since I already have a 360 stick… would it be against the rules to use a X360 to PS3 adapter for my controller, instead of having to buy a PS3 stick. If anyone knows the answer to this, thanks a lot. Also, if I can use an adapter, I’m planning on using this one: http://www.consoleshop.com/product.php?productid=21051
Anyone heard anything negative about it, or have a better one I could use?
Adapters aren’t illegal. However, finding a trustworthy 360->PS3 adapter is, right now, impossible. That adapter you linked apparently has problems with joysticks, and has noticeable lag. It supposedly works decently for the 360 pad, but I’ve heard from people who own that product that it drops inputs frequently as well. So buy at your own risk.
Thanks bro good looking out. Looks like Im going to have to buy a ps3 stick, and put my Sanwa and octo-gate from my 360 stick in it.
Your best bet is to do what most of us are doing, and dual pcb mod your stick with 360 and a cthulhu (ps3) board
It’s a crying shame that Microsoft hates the people who use their hardware.
Name one where I haven’t given reasons for my absence. I was at Final Round and I was at Impact Clash II. Those were the only tournaments I said I was “definitely” attending. Shit comes up in my life, largely because I lead a particularly tumultuous one. I’m sorry that I’m not willing to put my financial and/or emotional well-being at stake just so you can be satisfied with my credentials.
PS3 is a real problem, guys. I played in a somewhat large SF4 tourney (40ish people) on PS3 yesterday, and seriously, it was a real problem. Wireless controllers occasionally took control of some of the consoles and stick switching was a major ordeal. Sometimes you’d have to go into home and reset your controller number, and sometimes the act of putting in a new stick reset the already plugged stick’s controller number so you’d have to fix that. Some converters seemingly randomly didn’t work with some PS2 sticks, so players would have to go searching around for other controllers until they found one that worked, and sometimes that took a while.
In a tournament that expects many hundreds and even 1000 people for a single game, I really don’t think PS3 is viable. I understand that it’s easier to work with the console that works with PS2 sticks since everyone used to play on PS2, but I think PS3 might to lead to some pretty significant delays over the course of such a huge tournament.
Lobelia - you cant attack someone because they had a real life excuse for not showing up to an event, and then defend your position for the same reason. Doesn’t work. :looney:
I thought wireless controllers weren’t allowed?
And you can reset your controller by hitting the home button, no need to get out of the game, it takes a second.
How was it at Final Round?
eh people will figure it out, like tekken has been run on ps3 for over 2 years and soul calibur for over 6 months. So a lot of 2d people are still trying to figure out a system to keep things moving. The main things are, turn your controller off if you play on ps3 pad (which most people don’t use anyway) and make sure you have a stick and converter that work.
PS3 was fine last year and the year that before.
It’ll be fine this year.
