Everyone, please help build the SNK (KOF) scene in the U.S. START NOW!

I have a couple of SNK contacts, and know several people who are in deep with SNK, but SNK doesn’t listen to too many outside sources and only two of the people I know can actually suggest something to SNK and SNK will do it.

SNK used to do a lot of stuff with snk-capcom.com, but once the US arcade office closed, things changed. They moved to Jersey and didn’t seem to care much. Japan still cares but they tend to only listen to Japanese. Their venture with Ignition could have been something great here in the US, but there’s no need to go into what happened there.

Also, SNK knows of some people in the US SNK scene, and most of it is negative. And for those of you who asked for a site/forum dedicated to SNK, there have been several, and all of them died. The most successful was FierceSlash.com, but once Mummy-B died, that place slowly went down hill.

To be honest with you guys, this thread should just be closed/never been made. This won’t really do much.

Edit - SNK had their own forum in the states when they moved their offices to NJ. The forum was ass compared to Capcom-Unity.

Maybe some of the mods/administration at Ignition Entertainment forums might have someone that talks directly to SNKP America?

I don’t know how much we can do…I believe we need another SNK vs. Capcom game

Honestly, contacting SNK directly isn’t gonna solve shit for a lot of the aforementioned reasons above, but there was a small measure of success with ignition. From what i read tho, they’re only gonna focus on digital distribution now. Anyway the point is maybe not contact the developer but the publisher? Probably have more luck with that.

Question: If a new SNK fan community popped up, would you prefer that it specialize in King of Fighters? Or would it be better if it covered all SNK fighters, NeoGeo to present? What would you want to see from it?

It’s pretty obvious that SNKP’s main interest is the japanese market for now, so I don’t think we’ll see anything like capcom unity anytime soon. Seriously, we should just focus on people actually playing the game first, and then the competitive play. It’ll come naturally.

Ill read this whole thread when i get back to the store. But i just wanted to let yall know that I would really like to support the SNK scene at Monsters. KOF XIII machine is in the works but what we need is yalls support. Tonight we will be streaming SNK games on our justinTV Monsters Arcade on Justin.tv

And If any of you Houston guys want to come by tonight and play its free! Our Free SSF4 casuals are going really well so im considering putting Monday or Thursday as an SNK meetup night. If we can get some people to attend it will go a long way toward us getting the KOF XIII machine.

We really like SNK and we think the scene the way it is is just a travesty. Hit us up on our Facebook if you guys would like to see this change as much as i do!

Welcome to Facebook

You know what guys? We should try to do what the Arcana Heart fans are doing. Using their avatars and have the words “VOTE for AH in EVO”. I think that seen that many people with those avatars really works IMO, at least it shows the message.

Dunno if we should also try it for KOFXIII or not.

That would be nice. I heard that it’s a possibility in the future. It seems like they’re currently busy getting out MvC3, then I just heard that they will be making CvN and NvC games. I remember when those SNK/Capcom games came out, I went crazy. When CvS1 came out, I spent almost $400 just so I can play it. Meaning buying the DC with the game, etc. Then I heard SvC chaos was out at a bowling alley many towns away from where I lived. I didn’t have a car at the time, so I caught 4 buses out there just so I could play it and it was worth every minute. Then finally, I spent another $400 just so I could play SvC again when it came out for Xbox, buying the system, game, etc. Yeah, I was nutty over SNK stuff. Still am.

its called shin nihon kikaku for a reason

YO WEBS u know im down for the kof bring it through i already play cross handed style…wich goes great
w kof mexico…but if u really wan to get down ill introduce to some homies dat spent their lives in mexico kof scene…

Marvel’s got pringles, KOF’s got…pudding?

I’m not entirely sure, but there’s some kind of benefit to be had here…give me some time!

As I said earlier, seen all the AH fans showing up with their AH3 at EVO avatars and seen this thread, made me think that if we do the same we might see some more movement in SRK at least.

This is an example of the “KOF13 at EVO” avatar I wanted to spread around, unfortunately SRK isn’t letting me upload it as my avatar even if the dimensions don’t exceed 160x100 and 19.5 kbs. lol

I’m also trying to help little by little, not in the scale as other people in this thread, but I think any kind of help counts, right? :bgrin:

I know you’re trying to help, but that thing looks like garbage. :stuck_out_tongue:

I look through these 5 pages and feel sad. Instead of discussing how to build and strengthen our community, all I see is personality clashes and complaining. This is the biggest problem this community faces. Everyone needs to get over themselves and learn to work together. Look at what the Melty Blood community did. They went from meeting wherever they could to play the game onto having as an EVO event. That game is much more niche than the KoF series. Most players know the majority of these characters thanks to the CvS series.

We also have to face facts. SNK promoted their games pretty hard here back in the day. How were they repaid? Most of their games were emulated and played that way rather than buying the game. Garou sold poorly on both the NeoGeo and the Dreamcast as most players went the free route. That sort of behavior killed SNK. SNKP has not had much success after they came back from the dead. The U.S. is a tough market for them and they probably sell more games in Asia and other countries. SNKP is a business and they go where the money is. They are invested in the community in a different way. They have constantly provided games for us when Capcom no longer cared. The only responsibility SNKP has is to make games that make money. That said, they have tailored XIII to their fans in a live-or-die move.

Building our community falls on us. There are many approaches from the small to the epic and every little bit helps. Everything from DarKaoZ’s avatar idea to DG’s involvement in the international scene. We all have to work together to get this thing going; no attitude, just cooperation.

I’ve put a lot of thought into this and have an offer. I am a busy person. I work a full-time job, am married, produce a weekly web comic and play fighters whenever I can. I’m an enthusiast and an average player. That’s all that you need to know about me. Here’s my offer: If enough people are interested and willing to invest a bit of time, I will set up a site for us - a Wordpress homepage which I can update a couple of times a day; a forum; and a Wiki. I would need help getting the Wiki pages filled in. I think we need to provide as much information as possible about as many games as possible. I think we’d need to cover KoK 98, 2k2UM and XI, Garou and the Real Bout games to start. If enough people can offer some time and knowledge we can do this. I think we can create a great hub for the SNKP scene in the U.S. Any takers?

SNK Live Stream is up! Monsters Arcade on Justin.tv

Blue background makes it hard to read. Also the KOF symbol is so small. Should be in a format so that people who don’t have premium accounts can have it easily readable.

Oh come on Giby, no need to make is sound that bad. Besides I did this in 15 minutes, give me some credit here. =P

But if you can come up with something better to use and that we can use, go for it, you are welcome to do so, we will just wait for it.

Well it was just an experiment, I tried to stay loyal to the KOF13 in game bars design, that is where i got the blue out off (look at the time counter). But like I said, it’s just a test, just to know if you guys will like the idea and go for it. Also if someone can come up with a better design I have no problem with that, I just placed the idea on the table.

Awesome stream dude! I’m watching it right now, didn’t expect to see SS gameplay.

Sounds like a great idea!

Will there be anyway to do a event calender on the front page to announce offline and link to live streams?

Def appreciate the effor nilcam. Personally though, our first priorities would be XIII and 2K2UM as far as info/movelists/forums are concerned as those are the most played ones (at least abroad) The newer players would only really flock for XIII info as SF players mainly come for the Super 4 knowledge
