Try one If returned in minty mint condition I’ll refund you, can’t say fairer than that.
No problem and yes, I agree the button heads are a piss poor way of attaching the plexi. Can even provide correct screws.
If you had countersunk holes you could still use the original screws as they’re quite wide, yeah? I’d like the option of trying both
Would the plexi stay on without any screws at all if you use threaded Sanwa buttons (original sized plexi with shroud etc. still attached, obviously)? A lot of sticks use this method to remove the screws from the face of the stick but the TE has a larger surface area than most.
If anything, the button heads would sit in the countersunk hole but yes they wide enough for sure. The Sanwa screw-in’s would probably hold it down enough but I dont have any to test, this is what I am trying to get around for a new stick design im gonna be showing off soon. Would need to be 3mm tho as anything thinner will certainly lift up when caught by fingers etcetc.
Bear in mind the bottom left screw-in needs modding to fit in the Vewlix layout.
I want a full plate 6 buttons, pm me your bank details again mert…
Will do, just have to get everything written down right now as I got a lot of orders on. Later tonight And thanks.
You tend to use a snap in for the left most button, as 7 screws are enough to hold the weight. You sure 2mm would flex too much to allow a screw less design?
You could test is with clip in buttons, just remove your screws and tip the stick upside down, see if the edges flex at all.
doomy, hey man im back from holiday, have you got round to etching things on the acrylic yet?
or even custom washers?
let me know bro.
much regards from central london
Unfortunately I haven’t had time to look into washers yet and etching is quite far off im afraid. It’s purely a time thing as the standard TE and full plates are keeping me pretty busy - when things calm down a bit I can look into those things… At the moment my priorities are other face plates and dont want to irritate the CNC operator anymore than I have to.
Just tested. 3mm doesnt flex, only problem is finding a way to fix the bezel. as the bolts hold that down too. I stupidly let the 2mm at work but I did hold it in my hand in the middle and that thickness does just dip quite a bit.
Ah, I didn’t know that as I don’t have a TE yet. Sounds like 2mm should be fine though.
Can the bezel not be attached via screws underneath the plexi?
Ideally I want a 2mm “clean” (no screws showing) 8 button normal (or without control panel hole) plexi if that’s possible
hey doomy, will you be doing the extended size for the faceplate? thats the size thats slightly larger than normal so it fits perfectly without the bezel, its one of the 3 sizes that Art offers on his site
Here it is, my first and very basic arcade stick mod ever! proud
Simple artwork swap with full plexi, too broke to order transparent buttons and balltop yet (plus, nobody has meshballs in Europe :().
Plexi by Doomy, of course, and artwork by, well all of SRK.
I think this one is from MIVlives, but it has been taken and modified by many users here, I know it’s been seen before many times but it is quite temporary.

EDIT: Im so newbish that I mounted the dust cover upside down -.-
Are your centre screws rusting :o
Would it be also possiible to make rounded edges?
Or ist only possible to make hard cuts?
… Yes they were the outer left screws and I have no clue why, they are rusting.
The stick has only been inside my “normally” dry living room so far.
I’m gonna change them with stainless steel screws soon.
if you can come close to Arts thickness on the plexi, you have a new customer
you print extended art aswell?
Rounded edges like this would be nice too:

Thanks aqua. Nice.
Extended standard plexi I can do, just not measured up yet. Rounded edges? I looked at pics and am confused (probaly due to skinful of ALCOHOL IN ME RIGHT NOW. Excuse caps lock. Aqua, stainless screws i can fit you up with, if you can get 4mm buttonheads im sure thats right, I’ll reply to your email at work tomorrow though.
Oh AND i missed the artwork question, at the moment i can only do standard TE plexi artwork, still saving for A3 printer. 450 at least
