I think the thing about Daigo that inspires most gamers out there is that he’s a working man’s fighting game player. To me Daigo looks human when he plays. I mean I’ve watched Ver and I’ve watch Koruda. Now those guys are good, but at the end of the day they just seem like they are this level above whomever they’re playing.
Daigo style is unique because it’s so improvised. Daigo doesn’t seem to really win totally on a better understand. He seems to out think his opponent, and it’s so obvious in his matches. Daigo seems like a McGuyver of sorts when it comes to SF. He invents shit on the fly. Daigo looks like he’s working in his matches, and stuggling to come out the victor.
I mean let’s be honest with ourselves, outside of ST and VS, Daigo has been nothing more than an early dominator in anything he’s touched. When GG, CVS 2, 3s started to evolve, he quit those games. Very consistent in the early lifespans on those games, but there has never been a game where he utterly dominated the game’s entire lifespan.
I think people are just in love with Daigo’s style. A guy who figures out his opponent mid match, and don’t really overwhelm people he face by just schooling them with esoteric game knowledge. He just out manauver and out strategize them. There aren’t too many players in the word that dynamic.
With that said, I believe Daigo’s comments about the USA scene suck. Very arrogant, but maybe this will motivate US players to take him down. Daigo has made a big impression on a lot of the USA top players he’s faced, but maybe he’ll motivate an entire nation to take him down for good

Daigo hasn’t been a top player in every fighting game he’s ever played. He wasn’t even close to top in Guilty Gear. I mean I understand what your trying to say just exaggerations don’t help your stance.

What is this thread about? Are we talking about Justin being on the same level as Daigo? It would be difficult to believe since with arcade characters Daigo beat him 10-2 at SB. When Daigo can literally beat pretty much everyone in the US at SF4 I think it’s confidence and not arrogance.
