Just to put a close on this, we will continue to seed by region. End of story. I will do my best to ensure that it is done by region, and we’ll leave it at that.

I was looking up info on some ranbats and I know that AI charges $5.00 entry fee, where $4 go es to the pot, and $1 goes to the “big pot”, which is rewarded at the end of the season to whoever has the most points. Maybe I’m getting a little ambitious/overzealous with all these fancy new tournament gimmicks, but what do you guys think? It’d be pretty cool to have a huge pot at the end of a ranbat season. We could just take it out of the current fee ($4 to pot, $2 to venue, $1 to big pot), or add it on (increase price to $10 - 5 to pot, 2 to venue, 3 to big pot). This makes it more competitive - you have to be a lot more consistent across multiple tourneys to get that big pot. I’d certainly be excited to play in a tourney with ranbats like that! Please post feedback, guys.

I say no to bumping up the price to ten. IMO it’s a little high for a weekly, especially with another weekly coming up on sundays.

how on earth to say. i don’t have anything against wanting to not play people you play everyday I GET IT. But considering the turnout for the last tournament sometimes that is going to happen. How many times has Daigo had to play Mago/Shiro/Random top player #4 in the beginning/middle of a bracket?I mean, that sucks for either player… but at the same time…without things like that , there wouldn’t be people like Iyo in finals(I don’t mean in the Dhalsim /skill sense, I mean diff. players). Things happen, to make other things happen.If we afford players a better opportunity based on potential…it will stifle a lot of the energy that goes into playing at a higher level.Fight for your right, These are weekly ranking battles, not Evo. I don’t really think about it in the same regard. It’s double elimination!I want to see what happens to diff. players under diff circumstances every week.Everyone is so close in skill these days that an advantage like seeding just doesn’t really make sense at the local level. It would be redundant to have a pre ranked ranking battle in my mind.

i have an idea of having seperate ranbats for sacto and davis so we can be like the AFC and NFC, but i dont want to split our scene apart.

well like in all sports there is 2 divisions: NFL has AFC and NFC, MBL has NL and AL just to name a few. each division always play eachother as well as other divisions teams. maybe each scene (sac and davis) should find a way to rank each divisions players. if we can find a way to make this work… maybe we set up more exciting tourneys in the future.

If we started and ended ranbat season at the same time and standardized point awards for each place, I think we could have an end of season Davis top 3 vs Sac top 3 :D. Sounds exciting… what do you think? It’s a little late to start ranbats now if we want to do it this way, but I can talk to Davis and find out when the next season starts. For now, we can just do the points anyway and do the Sac vs Davis next season.

Yes, Jack and the Davis crew were talking about championship belts and stuff. But what if points overlap and top 3 at Droms are the top 3 at The City o_o? We gotta make sure that doesn’t happen!

the name of the game is competition. if you’re afraid your friend from your region knows your play style too well, then chances are, you weren’t going to get far anyways. moreover, if you and your friends get far, you’ll have to face eachother eventually. finally - if a terrible player gets 2nd, what does that say about the scene in general?

grind people. if you wanna get good at something, work for it. it really doesnt matter who you face. you should be less concerned about getting points in a tiny ranbat scene, and more concerned about faring well in a large norcal/national tourney.

the difference between whining over ranbat points/seeds and being one of those “shameful” and “scrubby” ragequitters online is very slim. the effect is the same: you want something for nothing. its like being older than your mother. it doesnt compute. fight for it guys, come on. i expect more out of tournament players.
