Electric Wind God Fist _ Updt: 03.08.12

Thanks for the help, guys. I’ve always been a scrub at FGs, just playing for the excuse to buy sticks, but I’m really taking to Kaz and want to level up my game. Dude is a BLAST to play. I appreciate your patience! :stuck_out_tongue:

Apologies to D3MON for second guessing. I shoulda known better. I’m looking forward to more tips and vids from you guys–you’ve already boosted my base bnb to a meter-less 418 (with jump in, 340-ish w/out jump in).

Wow, I’m so bad at mist step on p1 side. Anyway, why am I getting two df inputs? Does anyone else get two df inputs (both p1 and p2).

You’ll get 2 DF inputs if you’re doing a WGF, if you manage to land a mp/hp at the same frame as the DF then you’ll get the EWGF described in this thread ._.

i mine as well spill the beans on how easy this actually is with the double tap.

double tap the punch when u hit down. - i use the shortcut to do the uppercut (cuz i’m a scrub SF player). basically, i do d, df, d, df to do a mist dash.

so to do the EWGF, i do d, df, d+double tap punches, df. same theory as plinking. i hit the button too early i get the second punch at the df frame. i hit it late, i get the first punch at the df frame.

enjoy.

btw. if you are very slow at double tapping…this doesn’t work for u. i basically double tap using my index finger and middle finger on the same button.

working on a new mid screen meterless 4x ewgf so far im not getting the last one and when i did get the 4 i got a ex once and that did 488 so im guess its going to be 490 after i compelete the combo but its j. hk, st.hp, Ewgf, st.hp, Ewgf, st.hp, Ewgf, Ewgf

Thanks. I’m not sure there’s a whole lot else to discover for EWGF but I’ll keep looking as long as people keep raising questions.

How inconvenient is must be to have someone come along and validate your theoretical rhetoric.

Each input has its’ own frame. If you’re mistiming the input for a EWGF, during the shortcut input you’ll see something like

D/F P
D/F
F

in your input log since you’re hitting D/F on a different frame than P, but still holding D/F when you hit P (resulting in WGF). You want to work on getting rid of that solo D/F input and then is when you’ll see EWGF. In Tekken it had a 3 frame leniency :\

Thank you Haunted an Deejay for the tips. I’ll get back on that grind tonight.

I’m still not consistent with EWGF (I envy your consistency VERY much so), so I can’t test this out myself but is it possible to do c.mk into EWGF EWGF c.mk EWGF? (or your newer midscreen ewgf s.hp ewgf s.hp etc etc) Or is it stricly from a closer s.hp?

honestly, I think that you’d have to wave dash into EWGF… or just start with ex-wgf then do the combo from there.

As far as I recall, Tekken EWGF has 2 frames of leniency. I remember specifically watching The Main Man’s tutorial over and over again long ago and it stating that you have two frames. But memories can fail… and even so, nothing’s really set in stone for this game until someone with a programmable controller comes around and lays the hard facts. I do agree that there probably isn’t much more to be found about EWGF. Someone contact Maj

Devil Jin and Heihachi have a 2 frame leniency, Kazuya has 3. I would say the testing I did with plinking would prove that it’s a 1 frame window but I’d love to be wrong on this.

2 frame leniency actually!

Huh. Mr. NAPS told me it was 3 for Kaz.

Oh well, doesn’t make much of a difference for this game.

edit: twitter won’t link to the actual tweet for some reason, but there’s the quote.

Oh Kaz is 3? I’m more of a Hei player myself in Tekken (or used to be, since I’m leaning more towards Kazuya atm.) so I didn’t know haha, thought all Mishimas got 2.

Kaz always had special treatment when it came to Mist Step and EWGF. He has the shortcut input for Mist Stepping and a slightly bigger frame on EWGF since they were his niche I guess.

I don’t know what to believe anymore but I totally agree that the timing feels very much the same so it doesn’t really matter for someone who just wants to perform it. It’s good enough that they nailed it this close/perfect so I won’t have to do any re-learning as I don’t plan to ever drop Kazuya ever.

My problem is that mist step feels kind of stricter in this game than in Tekken. I love that EWGF is the same but god why is mist step…different?

The only reason that I assert that it’s 1 frame in this game is because in the hours I spent over the last few days experimenting with EWGF, I’ve never seen one come out on an input where Down/Forward and Punch weren’t synced on the first displayed input. The only evidence that I could find that there’s anything close to a 2 frame window was http://i.imgur.com/YBeNT.jpg and even then the first input of Down/Forward is synced in the same frame as a button input.

I could shoot an email/tweet to ComboVid and see if he could give some specialized insight.

Because of Dragon Punch motions being prevalent in the Street Fighter engine/franchise (even if Kaz doesn’t have a DP motion)

Yeah, I shouldn’t dispute your testings especially when I haven’t been able to do any extensive ones of my own. It’s good that so much about this has been figured already. Any additional info will probably just solidify what you have found out.

It’s a pity Mist Step doesn’t work 100% the same, but a small loss compared to how wrong it would’ve been if EWGF wasn’t done right. IMO.

I’m sorry if this has been answered before but does anyone know if the frame data on ewgf is different? If you do a reversal one, up to how much - frames can you punish with it?
