Thanks, I get it now.
sorry for the confusion on the OH properties, was being dumb 0_o~
40% success rate on the EWGF so far, lol.
i’ve only gotten ewgf twice… once on block… and the second time i didn’t have my speakers on… I wanna hear the clap! I heard it sounds just like EX…
Is the timing the exact same as it is in Tekken? Just curious.
Yeah, pretty much.
OK, that’s perfect.
We aren’t even supposed to have coloured text. This must be another glitch. Time to talk to Wiz…
Tested a while. This is a bitch, but reward is pretty good if you get consistent with it.
Random stuff:
df,N,d,df+MP/HP also works, I find this alternate input to be more handy if I need to cancel an EWGF from a low normal
With plinking I have a lot more success, but it’s a double-edged sword:
- can’t plink with a weaker punch, you get the ex version
- i plink with kick (I use MP to EWGF so I plink it with LK), success rate is WAY higher for me with that, problem is if I miss the input instead of the normal WGF I get the mist step kick follow-up wich is le big fail)
btw I’m colorblind so I can’t judge by the sparks color if I got an EWGF or not, had always to check the damage data -___-
Played around today some more with combos and what I noticed:
EWGF, EWGF, 2hp seems to be character specific mid-screen. I was able to hit it on Ogre but, unable to hit it on Hei after multiple tries. 2mk does work consistently on everyone I trained on though.
Anyways some meterless combos:
lk ~ lp ~ mk x ewgf, ewgf, 2mk x TGF
Good hit confirmation or block string, good for you either way.
2mk x ewgf, ewgf, 2mk x 623hk ~ hp (good midscreen corner push and if they tech forward, they come right back to you)
Decent damage, low starter, good for a frame trap after 2mp that was blocked first.
2mp, 2hp x ewgf, ewgf, 2mk x TGF (from what I noticed I don’t think you can get a follow up here, at least I couldn’t in my tries)
Good damage because of the 2mp to 2hp link and the TGF ending. Not many hits to bog down the combo with scaling.
I was also tacking on 2hk after some ewgf strings just for the knockdown. I think it was like ewgf, ewgf, 2mk x ewgf, 2rh. I’ll test this combo again tonight for definitive answer and I’ll put some damage values up tonight as well.
Double tapping seems like it might be a better idea. Its been doing wonders for me.
5x EWGF Combo

Corner combo
jHP, s/cHPxx EWGF, s/cHPxxEWGF, s/cHPxx qcb+HP
A sexy 505 damage
didn’t test midscreen but this could work against some at least I think
The move is called Electric wind god fist, this isn’t up for debate. EWGF isn’t listed in tekken move’s lists either at all, only the normal Rising uppercut. The difference is that in tekken the normal is not safe and has no electricity. So capcom fucked up a little here, but at least the true EWGF exists.
Timing appear’s to be the same as Tekken. (which is awesome.) it is a pity the abolishing fist is the start of his cross art though because some really juicy stuff could have been included if they implemented the gut punch crumble/stun into perfect EWGF launch that’s in tekken (one of the hardest things to do.)
Kazuya is probably going to be the hardest character in any SF game to date, and I’m really enjoying it so far.
Personally, I think there’s 1 tactic that’s going to propel him to being the best character he can be.
wavedashing into EWGF.
For those who aren’t tekken players, EWGF in this game feels much different than it does in tekken. Doing it from a wavedash in tekken is exactly the same motion as doing it raw, which is different in this game.
From a wavedash, the key to EWGF is not about hitting d/f + punch at the same time. It’s actually about pressing punch at the EXACT MOMENT the mist step begins. So in order to do, say, 10 mist steps in a row into EWGF, you have to do it as mist step, mist step + punch at the exact same time. I’m having a huge problem doing this, but I’m going to work on it until it’s consistent.
Has anyone else been able to do multiple wavedash to EWGF? If so, do you have any tricks to doing it consistently?
I’m not sure what you’re getting at. The Mist Step begins when you hit the d/f. If you don’t hit the d/f, there’s no Mist Step; and if you press punch any later, you’d almost certainly get WGF.
Kazuya is a lot more user friendly in this game compared to how he is in Tekken.
You’re kinda sorta right. The difference is that mist step is bufferable in this game.
So to do a cr. fierce > ewgf, you are not hitting d/f+punch at the same time. You’re hitting the punch as soon as mist step starts.
Makes it much different in application during block strings / combos / wavedashing.
yesterday in training room with input visualization activated, the only time I could get cr.fierce > ewgf was when the input showed that I hit d/f+punch at the exact same time. 1 frame off was enough to obtain either a standard WGF or nothing at all
Oh gosh, I’m in the training room right now.
Mist step is bufferable, but you’re right that even the d/f+punch must be buffered with proper timing.
I sincerely apologize for making assumptions / spreading those assumptions without proper research.
