EL Fuerte's Revenge! ala improvement thread

Don’t know which one is worse, T.Hawk or the new Gief with ultra 2 loool T.Hawk’s air dive might not be very safe though, so maybe we can punish it on block (not sure if the spark will work as a punish since Hawk gets pushed back quite a bit). I assume giga buster will be almost useless in this matchup since Hawk can easily change trajectory mid air.

@KumaOso: I am also taking a short break from SF4 now, but once Super is here I am hitting that training mode HARD.

Jag tooth looks like airgrab bait

kick gets raped by ex guac as does knee.

Personal Predictions for new guys:

Adon: moves look beatable and baitable ALL DAY, I see him as a less annoying Blanka. Easy fight. 7-3 Fuerte

Guy: Bait his wake tatsu then EX Guac, his entire run game looks beatable by run back Tortilla. Q-Bomb will be useful here. Bet me, fucking BET ME. Let him do the running, knock him down, then take him to the vortex when he’s meterless. 6-4 Fuerte

Makoto: moves look tailor made to hurt Fuerte, Dash fist stops run cold. Up fist for crossup tostada, air kick looks beefy, command grab to combos could hurt, Kill the clock or else. 6-4 Makoto

T.Hawk: No distance reset SPD, possible priority problem with his dives, Our savior here will be back dashes. 7-3 T.Hawk 8-2 if Dives can’t get Guac’d, 6-4 T.Hawk If Tostada Priority beats/trades Dives

Hakan - I’m… not sure about this one…

Deejay - 6-4 Deejay Deejay’s got tools for everything and a slide. Gonna have to turtle here.

Cody look like trouble. Rocks are a deterrent, low ruffian is a problem, as is the knife. Zonk Knuckle vs Q-Bomb… 6-4 Cody or 5-5 even

Ibuki Might boil down to who gets control and sets the tempo. I feel if you can keep her grounded she’s fucked. She gonna get baited into Q-Bombs (her quick kicks look short on range, especially if it beats her slide grab) and EX guac’d on her air kunai bullshit, penguin kick is gonna either get countered like Blanka Balls, or by RSF, her low health means we get her in a vortex she’s assed out, and tell me… WHAT are her escape options from the safe tortilla? 6-4 Fuerte, possible 7-3 Fuerte

Dudley also will boil down to who takes control of the match. I bet people will be eager for machine gun blow, ABUSING invincibility of Tostada when going up while using EX Run will be Key. Uppercut gets owned by Safe Tortilla, he crouches, with it, I see it like Ken’s, it wont be grabbable, Cross Countah means we get more chances to Q-Bomb or Fajita or ‘drop’ RSF to grab. It’s an uphill battle, but it wont be our worst match. 6-4 Dudley.

Juri: She may be a problem, pinwheel kick looks too safe, but I think Q-bomb may be the answer to it. projectile kick will be tricky. Her dive kick must be punished at every chance. Feng Shui Engine, BE THE AGGRESOR. Too early to tell to rate.

Big fan of Q-bomb, eh, Densuo?!

If you are using a character by the name of El Fuerte, you should be using Q-Bomb!

Quesadilla Bombs Away!!!

i think he’s trying to will Q-bombs into viability. I wish you luck, sir!

Hakan vortex might be pretty tough for fuerte to deal with. I’m curious if guac will grab oil dive or vice versa. I think that’s what makes the matchup right there. Keeping on the pressure so he can’t oil up is important too. his pokes look SO beefy when he’s oiled up. Also, air throw priority…

I don’t think Cody/Dudley match-up will be that bad for our beloved Fuerte.

I see it as being 5.5-4.5 and worst at 6-4 disadvantage for Fuerte.

Dudley lacks range in his footsies unlike Boxer and some of his normals/specials seem to be punishable with U2 on block. Safe tortilla vortex also seem possible with the way his uppercut works.
Fuerte will die if cornered by Dudley though so EX meter is essential.
5.5-4.5 or at worst 6-4 disadvantage for Fuerte.

Fuerte shouldn’t fear Cody’s rocks at all whatsoever - it’s a tool to increase Fuerte’s revenge meter and Fuerte has no problems bypassing the rocks with wall jump/ex run.
He also seems to have weak wake-up defense - zonk is good, but totally unsafe (more useful to defend against block strings than okizeme I think).
He has a good pressure game though so his strat will be to rush Fuerte and keep him glued to the corner.
5-5 and at worst 5.5-4.5 disadvantage for Fuerte.

T.Hawk’s the scary one though - hopefully it’s just 6-4 disadvantage for Fuerte…
The match-up depends on these factors:

 • can Fuerte punish blocked air dives
 • can Fuerte do safe tortilla on T.Hawk’s wake-up
 • can tostada splash beat regular Thawk DP
 • what is the range of T.Hawk’s 360 - can he do backdash -> 360 to punish a whiffed tortilla?

I think one thing we can try and abuse against Hawk is his large hitbox (largest in game I think). So that means we can catch him easier with tortilla even if he dashes, and also jumping cross ups being effective. Unless guac completely loses to dives, then I see it 6-4 for Hawk. A tough one for sure, but hopefully managable.

Hakan also seems like big trouble, I think the key here is to not give him a chance to oil up. I assume that Fuerte is fast enough to run and punish any attempt of oiling up, based on the videos I have seen (I could be completely wrong though). But if hakan scores a knockdown, then it seems hard to get out. So offensive play might work better here.

Ibuki and Makoto seem to me like even matchups, similar to Viper in the sense that the one who gets the first knockdown has the advantage of winning the round.

Dudely seems like 6-4 dudely just because he has a lot of tools and is great at applying pressure. But seems a bit better than the heavy 6-4s.

Juri, I have a feeling it might end up as 6-4 Juri as well, but Juri seems like a mystery to me at this point, she seems to have potential to be really tough or purely even.

As for DeeJay, Cody, Guy and Adon: They seem like even matches, with possible slight advantage to Fuerte against some (or the opposite). Adon seems the least demanding, but still might be 5-5 since Adon can have some unknown tricks.

I agree with Cody being 5-5… maybe even 6-4 Fuerte. I don’t think Zonk Knuckle will be a good enough tool to deal with Fuerte’s wake-up mix-up. I suppose it depends on its hit box… let’s say you do a calamari slide, will zonk even hit it? I’m sure tortilla will have no trouble at all with Zonk too or any of Cody’s tools really.

Juri is a bit of a wild card… I saw a video yesterday with Adon fighting Juri… he did something to get over her pinwheel kick and while the animation was still going (the legs flying circularly) he walked right through them while behind her and hit a combo. Will tostada press be unaffected by the top/back while crossing her up? This could give a nice advantage.

Edit: Here is the section of the video:

I think the scariest new-comer to Fuerte is Hakan. Moving FA? Also, it looks like run will be useless once he has Ultra Meter (except to bait…), plus, some of his ridiculous normals may be able to swat Elf out of his run… only time will tell.

PS. Did anyone watch West Coast warzone? I was watching at about midnight central time and I saw a guy named “Happy Trang” play really well with Fuerte… he OCV’d Team Norcal 2 and beat Alex Valle in one on one.

Happy Tang=Kai

Absolutely. Both in eating them and throwing one out of nowhere. Tortilla, fajita, super, both ultras are prime time to land a q-bomb. Faster FAs means more chances to armor break, as it will see more use. Armor break scares people and good to train them into not FAing. Which follows Paper’s awesome philosophy: you show them all the tools you have…so you can splash mountain that shit!

Yeahh, call me crazy. But training mode and q-bomb is the first thing I’m xx QUESUHDEEYUH!

I woke up in a really good mood today.

I saw that SSF4 will be coming to arcades and got even happier.

So many characters in arcade and El Fuerte’s new ultra, I’m psyched!

I’ll be the best wrestler in SSF4, all you honda, fuerte, 'gief, hakan, (abel?) players see me about the championship belt.

abels alternate is a wrestling singlet, so i would def consider him a wrestler

i still dont think the game or FA’s are faster Densuo :frowning:
at least you are a big fan of q-bomb!
im honestly not  only in fuerte mirrors.

Fuerte players shouldn’t worry about not being able to punish Hawk’s dive. In a vid vs Bison, it was shown Bison can just sit still and s.HK the recovery of the move. It’s very punishable.

I understand…but you have to remember. Bison’s standing HK has hella range, and good speed. Fuerte’s faster normals may not even reach…

I wonder if we’ll have time to do run slide.

Dropkick that shit, Son! Hell, you can probably guac him.

If we can guacamole a blocked air dive that will be pretty beastly especially with the buff guac is getting.

That would be sweet. how guac works in this matchup will make a huge impact on its difficulty.

Hello!

Well, yesterday I go again to that house where ssfiv is ready for playing (arcadiagamers)

Well, a little sad news, El Fuerte stamina is still 900 and not 950, this comes from an error about how damage scaling works, so if fuerte has 900 and you do 9 attacks with 100 of live each other you still alive with a very poor live (damage scaling) and this was the error where people was thinking that has 950 instead of 900, it has 900, but since lot of chars are nerfed, so looks like he has more stamina, but is not true sadly.

This damage scaling works exactly on SFIV, try it, do 9 tostada press (does 100 of damage) and you are not dead, since damage scaling.

Well, to record something in that house is very hard, all people only wants to play and I have no time to check much more in training more, I recorded a video showing that, and normals and flying giga buster, but quality is too poor! :frowning:

Video shows bison roundhouse (100 dmg x9) and the result is the same as SFIV, so El Fuerte has 900 stamina.

Flying giga buster does 470 now, instead of 518 (sfiv)

About ultra spark (500 dmg) I land it sometimes as “anti crossups” so its funny when it auto corrects and boom! (Example, Tatsu Ryu crossup)

With no official confirmation about real changes in SSFIV by capcom, there is nothing to do, but 950 looks like is definitely a precipitate error.

Nos vemos amigos!
