Hmmm Iād rather not have to rely on landing Ultra.
But weāll see what happens.
Thanks for the information Buktooth, Iām particularly glad to hear that the 3F start up was confirmed. The fact that the vast majority of the cast wonāt be able to risk sweeps outside of combos is huge. Ultra II will be a serious tool, I canāt wait to test the shit out of it. Ultra I will still be really good against Sagat and Chun and other characters with slow jumps who arenāt able to change their trajectory in mid-air, but Ultra II will be what makes Fuerte a contender.
All the current top tiers do. You wonāt have to rely on it to win, because we donāt really rely on Ultra to win now, but itāll be good to have if you block any low roundhouse. Free damage.
Yep. Like I said. Ultra I on characters with no Mid Air changing moves, Ultra II for everyone else. Rufus looks like he will still be kinda annoying to Ultra though.
If youāll permit me to play some Theory Fighter, Fuerteās Ultra 2 will be able to punish the following moves on block; cr. fierce, cr. roundhouse, target combo, his overhead, Messiah Kick no follow up and Messiah Kick LK follow up. Thatās all off the top of my head, without consulting frame data. Iām sure youāll also be able to snipe Galactic Tornadoes on reaction, and Iām hoping U2 stays active long enough to stuff dive kicks too. Iād say the match up will be easier, especially considering the EX Snake Strike damage nerf.
That alone will make a huge difference if true. I think it depends on ultra 2ās invincibility frames as well, which we donāt know much about at this point
Yeah. Tofu pretty much tortillaād my ass.
I was lucky enough to get the chance to give El Fuerte a test drive in the latest build of SSFIV, El Fuerte being my obvious main character, I was able to put him to the test and get to the bottom of his new Ultra.
Firstly, as I know everyone will ask this, El Fuerte seems unchanged aside from his new ultra. No new moves, or combos. His normals all seem the same, but without access to the frame data there is still a chance that some moves gained or lost a frame or two.
His life bar seems to be 950 (an increase of 50hp) but this was a slightly rushed test so donāt hold me to that.
His new Ultra is very very good. Its main purpose is to punish blocked moves but can also be used as an anti air.
It doesnāt cover much distance, but enough to catch up with someone from a sweeps distance (think c.HK). Itās very fast too, forcing the opponent to jump if they havenāt already hit buttons.
I tested it again Ryu and was able to punish a c.mk! Even if Ryu went for c.mk > hadouken, the ultra goes clean under it.
I canāt give specific moves, but it beat almost everything I tried it against. When Fuerte has this new ultra in stock, you pretty much take a risk each time you attempt to attack him unless its a jab.
The beauty of his new ultra is the fact it is two quarter motions BACKWARDS! This means that buffering the move leaves you in a blocking stance so you can even do it at very close range and not worry about eating any random moves.
Main examples are against Rufus / Cammy dive kicks, Sagatās tiger knee, Dictators scissor kicks etc. Simply buffer the motion and ready the 3 kicks⦠as soon as you see the move, press the buttons and if you are not quick enough you will simply block the move.
This means that you can confirm this ultra against many fast attacks without fear of taking big damage of not reacting fast enough.
Now on to the really interesting stuffā¦
Those who know me well, know by now that I like to kara the EX Habanero dash into Ultra/Super. Thanks to the backwards Habanero dash, the same can be applied to his new ultra with devastating affect!
This is an awesome option select that I managed to find and test and it works like a charm.
You simply buffer the two backwards quarter circle motions, and hit two punches followed very quickly by all 3 kicks. (Kara motion). If your opponent hits you (whether it be a jump in or on the floor), you will absorb the hit (as long as its not armour breaking) and instantly punish with the Ultra Spark. If the opponent doesnāt hit you, you will flash yellow and Piccadilllo jump to safety!
The last beauty of this ultra is being able to spam it during block strings, meaning if your opponent messes up, you will get your revenge on all those random ultras you took in the previous installment.
If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask and Iāll do my best to answer.
okay, thatās two knowledgeable Fuerte players who confirm that, outside of the new ultra, Fuerte is still Fuerte. oh well, i should be grateful that Capcom didnāt give us a sombrero buff.
So slight health.
Ridiculous ultra that can punish like nobodies business.
Sounds like easy turtling wins.
Iām happy with that.

Lolād heartily like a wine addled mountain king.
@Dawgtanian: Thanks a bunch man, ultra 2 sounds really ecouraging!
Just a few questions if you donāt mind:
Thanks again
I lolād HARD
People were speculating before that Fuerteās damage output was buffed, did you notice any differences?
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL, greatest thing Iāve read on this website.
I tested by hitting him with Sagats standing hard punch over and over until his life had fully depleted. Obviously there is damage scaling as your life decreases and so took this into consideration. As I said, it was rushed so he might have the same health as before if I miscalculated.
I canāt comment on invincibility frames, best thing to do is get someone to mash srk after the animation. The hit box seems quite large as characters that jump in are hit straight away before they seem to hit the ground.
I think it will scare rufus big time. Like I said, buffer those quarter circle motions and hover over all 3 kicks⦠as soon as you see the fat guy dive kick press them and it should punish. Its not going to be a walk in the park, but should definitely mess things up for Rufus.
@Tofu Warrior
I might be wrong, but the RSF seems to scale earlier than before. I didnāt play enough matches to know if any of the moves had been buffed damage wise, time will tell with that one.
Thanks agains Dawgtanian
Regarding the health, is it possible that Sagat got a damage nerf that made it look like Fuerte got more health? I recall MrWizard mentioned something about Sagat getting a marginal damage decrease on his moves, but nothing for sure I guess. We have to wait and see.
I was thinking of making a list of all the characters with all the moves that can be ultraāed on block and/or hit, based on the 3 frame startup for ultra 2. Would anyone be interested in such a list? I will refer to eventhubs for the frame data and just post all the relevant ones.
While a good idea, it may be a waste of time seeing as how some things will change in frame recovery come super.
I went into training mode so I could see the amount of damage each hit was taking, so its not down to a Sagat nerf. I guess we need to wait and see if Fuerte got more health.
Iād be interested in the list, but a lot of moves frame data is likely to have changed so we may as well wait for now. Just know A LOT can be punished with his new ultra!
