EL Fuerte's Revenge! ala improvement thread

His normals in general need to be more reliable. Maybe it’s because he’s one of the shorter, if not the shortest, characters on the roster, but his normals are all so close ranged outside out his s.HK that I don’t even bother with them.

damn if this stuff actually happens I might just faint from delight loool just a buff to damage for SOME moves and RSF same against all is enough to do that to me!!!

Yea most of his normals are among the worst in the game, they are slow, short AND weak. He has a disadvantage against a lot of characters just due to this alone. I think they at least should speed them up to make them a bit more than useless. s.hk and c.mk are decent though to be fair.

I would say those two are his best outside of cl.HP for RSF. At the very least, make his moves faster. Oh, and change Quesadilla Bomb to QCF+K. They really dropped the ball on that one. Ah damn it, he just needs an overhaul.

He really doesn’t require many major changes, changing the input for Qbomb is a very minor and an easy to make change, yet it will significantly improve him as it will give him a lot more freedom. I agree that he needs many of those minor tweaks, but they should all be easy to do, so no need for a complete reinvention since the basis of a very solid character is already there imo. I really hope Capcom pays attention this time, the important changes he needs are very obvious and it should require minimum effort from them to make…

I think the only thing they really need to do to make him a mid tier or much more solid character is :

  1. change q-bomb to a command move (most important since this opens up quite a number of options for Fuerte since the current incarnation is pretty much one of the most useless moves in the game)
  2. give him a 3 frame jab (very simple change but gives him something else other than just spamming throws)
  3. improve target combo by making it an actual 2 hit combo instead of the abberation it is now, and making the 2nd hit cancellable into either a run or super combo
  4. change the property of far st.HP either by:
  • greatly reducing the start up time making it a good normal, or
  • keep the start-up time but make it cancellable into a super or RSF so that on the rare occassion it hits, it actually leads to massive combo damage

Call me crazy but I like the Q bomb input. It’s a unique input that other characters don’t have. I don’t want everything to be QCB/QCF/HCF/DPM. I like to see a few unique commands like this one. However, I’d prefer if the Q-bomb could be done by holding any button, not just the kicks. That way players can have that option simultaneously with Ultra.

the input isn’t primary reason why Q-bomb sucks. the slow start up is the real reason why it sucks.

Anyway, sorry, but I don’t understand liking the input. Why? Because I like grabbing, focusing, and sliding/taunting more. And that’s not even considering that when running I might need the juke, the slide or the wall jump.

I will use this random double post as a chance to say that I love Fuerte having a sliding grab Ultra. If it goes through fireballs, I’ll have a hard time picking El Teabag Sunrise over Ultra Spark.

Though it’s a tough call. It’s rewarding to land the Sunrise in a good match.

would not recommend Q-bomb to be used in tournament matches…it messes up timing because your to busy trying to look for an opening and most likely if the player can sense it they will rush you down.

change the input for q-bomb…make it a charge back foward move

I think each character will have two rivals, so Fuerte should have gief and hawk as his. I hope this is a chance to expand a bit on his storyline and get to know the roots of this awesome cookador!!! Here is hoping for an R.Mika cameo appearance.

qbomb as it is right now is not completely useless, but is really limited because of its input (slow start up is also an issue as mentioned). I can see that if the input is changed, there is a lot more potential for more mixups. Fuerte in particular needs every single button, so sacrificing any to charge a move is not a good idea. Right now the only time I use qbomb is for a finisher chip damage or against people who overuse FA (LOVE it when I run, stop, and CRUSH that FA with a qbomb). very rarely its useful to link with a super, but we all know how hard it is to actually have a full super meter against good players.

Edit: Giga Buster is still very useful against characters who can’t change jump trajectory, and deals very good damage. The Spark is what he needs against those who can easily escape the Giga Buster, and also those who are very good at rushdowns.

Exactly. They can keep the button charge, just fix the friggin startup. and while we’re at it lets lower the EX Charge please, go ahead and reduce stun damage, I don’t care, but damn, we shouldnt have to charge for 8 seconds…

Pretty much Echoing Akashwan. Giga Buster should be used against non Mid-Air tracjectory changers, with Ultra spark being the better choice for everyone else.

With all due respect. You are doing it wrong.

You are complaining about holding a button down and timing being messed up and limiting you, having it as a button charge is less limiting then having it as a back charge. You can Negative edge a Guac off of the held button. You can store a charge while you continue to run, jump, and do whatever. While you are doing said whatevers, you can release the charge and not use it, where as with back charge, it’s totally obvious you’re charging it and ASKING to get rushed in on.

Q-bomb beats lots of horizontal moving attacks (Hurricane Kick, Lariat, Balrog Rush Punches for example) The REAL problem with Q-Bomb, is as follows:

  1. Start up time, it should be faster.
  2. Recovery Time, It gets blocked you better FADC or you’re gonna die.
  3. Defensive Inferiority: Yeah. It beats Hurricane Kicks, but I have better/easier options: Air Throw, Ultra, Tortilla Propeller, LK Guac, EX Guac, c.FP, Tostada Press
  4. Offensive Inferiority: Only time You’ll get time to bust out EX Q-bomb is during Ultra Animation or when both parties are Turtling LOTS, even then you might just give it up for whatever reason. Same with combos, Why do FP xx Q-Bomb (xx Super) when you can RSF, FP xx Run xx Slide (which is better and easier) or FP xx Run xx Gordita Sobat xx Super.

This move suffers as bad if not worse then Fajita Buster (Which is too weak, and beaten by crouching)

I do hope to see Mika appear in a SSF4 at least in a cameo

If they fix q-bomb’s startup as well as its charging time so it charges as fast as Boxer’s TAP, I can see it becoming much more useful.

If Q-bomb is completely fixed it will be one of the best moves fuerte has, it deals good damage and stun, breaks armor, and can be linked to super and canceled into more mind games.

A minor health boost, while not a major issue, is going to help a bit, 950 hp is ideal for him. He needs that along with increase in damage output, especially against tanks like hawk and gief.

regarding to the usefull normals i would consider also cr.short, cr.fp, cr.forward and of course far or close st.strong.

sure, they arent the best normals in the game but no that bad either. some minor tweakings here and there and i see our luchador much better at some matchups :slight_smile:

If I could get one change for Fuerte, it would DEFINITELY be to change the input for his Q-bomb. It’s ridiculous that the input for his armor breaking move differs so fundamentally from the rest of his moves. The slow start up, I can deal with.

And you have to charge that thing 8 seconds for the EX version? Eff that.

yea 8 seconds for EX qbomb is just too much, I don’t think I ever bothered doing it even once, even though it deals great damage and stun.

Speaking of armor breaking moves, should Gordita Sorbat have that property? I have always thought that this move is completely useless, and mentioned before that I want it to be replaced all together with something more effective. Is giving it armor breaking capability enough to make it useful?

It doesn’t seem like it has enough range for that kind of thing. And besides, I usually just use Fajita Buster if I ever see it coming on reaction.

Off topic, but should I feel sorry for myself that I can only do two RSF and the cl.HPxxRunxxSlide? Should we give some name to Fuerte’s cl.Hp?
