I’m quite digging it, but I’m not sure I can recommend it yet.
I’ve got downtime that pops up often at work so I get to play fairly often, and its nice to have pretty games like umvc3 and uncharted to fart around on. I didn’t get the 3G version as I think that’s a total waste of cash (you are bound to AT&T only, need a data plan just for vita) so I took the regular wifi version. Other than that, the main issue is the cost of hard drive space, there is none. So its just mem cards, and that can be kinda expensive. I bought a 16 gig one for I think about 50 bucks or something, it’ll do me for a bit. However, when a game comes out you can either buy digital and its all good, or you can buy the game at a brick and mortar store which has a data card you can use. For the overall price, its not worth it yet, but if you like to play games on the go that are higher end and not crap shovelware, this might be the way to go. Oh, and Netflix on a big screen (handheld standards) that kicks the 3DS in the ass in comparison.
My caveat to recommending it is of course, what the game library will turn into in the future. Right now, its the best handheld by far for potential alone, and its fun to use (the touchscreen on the back I first thought was stupid, its actually pretty slick). Being able to pick up umvc3 and put it down casually is pretty cool I got to say.

In any case, looks like I can’t tether right now. Maybe when I upgrade the phone I can, as I’ve heard some people have or definitely can if you have a droid. No big deal for now though.
Also, i gotta admit, if you can just use an iPhone 4/4S to make a wifi hotspot and play off that, why pay for 2 data plans?
I have a 3DS (Was itching for SSF4 on the go, as I have about an hour to burn at the end of my shifts before my relief takes over) and a PSP that I play some Street Fighter Alpha 3 on, but I HATE the Analog stick on that thing. How are the Analog sticks on a Vita?
Yeah, you can definitely get the 3G version because when I got mine the guy at the counter asked which I wanted, then clarified he was sold out of 3Gs. But yeah if you can just tether, why bother? Make the internet ignorant pay more I guess.
The sticks are better, because the top nub is way smaller and the gate size is smaller too. Oh, and its actually a stick and not a weird slider nubby thing. You can spasm your thumb and do easy 360 grabs or simple srks no problem, but because its such a shorter travel distance its easy to throw some up directions even doing a dp until you get the hang of it, then your good. Love the sticks over the psp +10, and its really natural going to things like Uncharted with it. Speaking of controls I wanna bring up the back touchscreen again, Uncharted uses it for example as a sniper zoom toggle, just glide up or down to increase or decrease zoom. Seems weird at first, then its so natural and it makes you wonder why there haven’t been uses for fingers behind controllers before. I will say I like the dpad better on the psp, as Vita’s is smaller, but that may change over time. Buttons are smaller too which took some getting used to, but its gravy now (except for some supers in umvc3 are definitely a problem. Like when you do task’s arrow supers with L and H its hard to do unless you play with the configs). And some psp games are compatible with vita right now, but most simply are not yet. But any digital purchases that you made that are compatible are redownloadable to it free, so I just downloaded alpha 3 max with no troubles fyi.
As the vid I posted showed though, have to stress screen quality on the OLED is awesomesauce.

In other news, the SoulCalibur community is starting to come out to OK every so often - last Saturday was the first official meet and we had 6-8 people and 3 stations. Not bad.
