Edmonton Thread - 2012

Sorta yeah. Look up stuff to improve? Sure. Scouring everything to take as super serious business, I dunno. I mean if your goal is to win SBO go for it but I’ll just play to have fun and see where I can go. Does that make sense? I feel like I’m talking in circles.

makes no sense man, ur not allowed to have fun ever

if people like losing & holding dat L in their chest… that’s fine… but i don’t

lol I guess the problem I don’t have is taking a loss to heart, is that a good thing or bad thing? I’m actually serious

You know what my favorite cereal is?

Spoiler

Lightning Loops.

Clearly you have no passion.

that’s the diff between u & i… i want to improve which motivates me to learn. cammy & makoto were characters that i was interested in learning. but my time is limited, lucky for me alioune & v-ryu did most of the homework for me so i just read their posts & checked out their youtube channel. i’d like to learn seth but i’m not going to spend my time reading the seth forum cuz i don’t know if the info is reliable.

For me its a hobby, not a goal to achieve in life. Personally, that is.

We had a really good Seth that comes out on rare occasion. If you meet him, he’ll school you in more ways than one heh.

This post sucks infinite dicks

Agree w/ Faltron

Nothing wrong with being passionate and dedicated to your hobbies. It’s fine that you and many others (myself included) don’t want to put in that much effort, but to shit on people for doing so is kinda wonky.

Would you go up to a musician after a show and then belittle them for spending so much time learning and practicing?

There is something very rewarding in the whole process of research, test, train, apply. Not everyone has the desire to put in the effort but it is very rewarding when your hard work pays off.

I get just as much skill from playing you as you do me. I think I just play more. You took 2 months off not that long ago. I haven’t completely stopped playing sf for 2 months since I played persona 4 back in 2010. Also I got a lot of beat downs from really good players in the scene but since All our good players stopped playing except for Bee who focused on marvel I’ve been relying on training people to beat me so I can’t get away with dumb shit. You do the same thing when I play you.

I hate losing. When I lose I go into a deep dark “high on bath salts” kinda place. In all seriousness tho it depends on if you are a highly competitive person or not. Can’t knock people who are and want to talk shop.

Been in training mode with Oni fior an hour . Fun times.

Against him or using him?

using him. :wink:

All right I get it, wrong forum for me. Won’t happen again

O______________O

I hereby cancel our money match out of concern for my fac - i mean personal safety.

I cant believe that stuff made it to edmontonn already… nonsence.

psh. your vega… hes gotta chew through dumb mask first pretty boi  i joke of course.

Ok here’s some basic stuff you may or may want to learn about Oni that will come in handy

Spoiler

Oni is a fun character to use and does a boat load of damage when punishing mistakes but has glaring weaknesses. He does good damage as punishes that are relatively easy to do considering the damage but when it’s a little harder to open your opponents up without being unsafe.

His best pokes are f+mk, f+fp, st.lk depending on the matchup. No one should ever be able to jump in on you in the mid range. His AA options are st.fp, cr.fp, f.dp, jab.dp no one should ever jump in on you in the mid range game because you only throw pokes and fireballs when you know they can’t jump them. The key to doing well with Oni is learning the ranges on his normals and what they are good for and maximizing damage in punish situations.

His best punish combo depends on the range that they are when they are vulnerable. Cammy’s dp for example moves her a little too far away at times to get a full combo so you have to sometimes settle for a f+fp. Up close and when the opponent is standing Oni’s best punish combo without the use of meter is cr.mp>tc2 xx hk tatsu. If they are too far away for the cr.mp to link properly into b+mp then st.fp xx hk.tatsu is his next best option. With 2 meter his best punish combo on standing opponents is st.fp xx lk.slash fadc cr.mp>tc2 xx hk.tatsu or demon smash. Demon smash gives you an untechable knockdown which setups easy safejumps. If the opponent is not standing then tc2 will whiff so substitute cr.fp.

Omfg just had the most epic night in Vegas last night… And today is day 2 + edc is today. If I die tonight make sure they send my body to be cremated @ over klocked
