East Coast Might Get Rom'd by Sandy (post match up strats here)

SRK is not a sensitive and considerate environment at all. It’s hilarious people are jumping on you for an insensitive yet true statement. I think general population just hates you.

real jobs sucks ass. the money is ass but it motivates me to find newer/better ways to make REAL money online…not some fixed paycheck.

totally pretending to be working right now

I don’t make bad money at a real job, but freelance is ideal because my days start at noon instead of 6 a.m.

I don’t know about that. I’ve seen some pretty surprising displays of kindness and compassion on these forums. It’s rare, but it happens.
Anyway, I for one don’t hate matriarch, I was actually just trying to give her advice in choosing her words more wisely in particular situations, but I guess I’ve been lumped into the matriarch hate club. shrugs

Hating someone over the internet makes zero sense to me when there are so many options to simply ignore their existence.

Lmao. Sure.

Day 3 and I’m still without power. A lot of the cell towers are screwed up so I can’t make calls. Gotta rely on my 4G hot spot to make texts to people with iPhones (first world problems, f’sure). And the gas shortage is a huge problem for this area. Most gas stations are shut down… And the ones that are open have ridiculously long lines. So, I gotta hope that A: I can get a spot in line to get gas and not run out before then or B: Kooper brings some to my job so I can get home. Most grocery stores are closed or not selling anything from their fridges, cause they’ll either go bad or try to conserve the air before they thaw or spoil… Most schools up here will be closed for a week or longer… But, with no power or anything at home, it’s not even a good vacation. There’s only so much sleep.

While I love a good storm… I don’t like storms fuckin’ up my daily life. When I have to hope that the street I take is open or there’s gas for me? Then we have a problem.

Btw, I’m not asking you to commit suicide, I’m asking you to martyr yourself for the good of the species. It benefits you as well, as it’ll save you the time you’d be spending digging beaches of sand out of that gaping maw you call a snusnu.

I was just joking.

Sounds rough. Maybe it’s time to go Southward?

I would, but, I work and go to college Northbound. Funny, the storm went through my parents in the South without a problem. But, driving almost 2hrs to come back here and waste gas isn’t worth it.

Something about pics of crying babies always puts a smile on my face.

stupid question but shouldn’t you conserve power or how are you powering your phone?

also I heard its getting crazy in NY…like people are breaking into homes and stores stealing supplies

I hope niggas dont start eating each other…

Ah, you still have to work and go to school. Then I presume you did a good job at stocking cans and bottled water. I think FEMA used to pass out MREs during Hurricane Ike. Those are great for a little while then it starts to feel like your digestive system trying to digest a brick and it starts to feel like a brick when it comes out. Pooing starts to sound like a woman’s labor, AHUUH AHUUUH AHHHUUUH AHHHUUUUH

I’m fortunate enough to work somewhere that has power. I work at a gas utility plant and they’re running on generators. So, I charge my phone and whatever while I’m here. I turn my phone on airplane mode when I head to sleep to conserve power while I’m home. So, I can at least be with electricity while I’m at work. And since the workers here pretty much have to be here 24hrs now, I just relax and use my laptop while I’m here.

Saw people looting and getting shot over gas.

How are you getting through this?

Hope everyone is alright.

Lower Manhattan here. Came back from a week without power but BK still getting pushblocked by Con Ed. 35 degrees tonight…

Hey guys, Staten Island resident checking in. I want to ask everyone on SRK in the tri state area, are you guys all okay? Are your families safe?

Sandy was a fraud

My area of Jersey City finally got power less than an hour ago! 5 days of no power was the realist reality check I’ve ever been through. No lights, hot water. People were already looting stores are mugging (more than usual) on night 1.

So…do preppers still seem like people to be ridiculed?

so Preppy Prepster.

& they’re all green. :wtf:

Home (backup) generators are probably still out of reach for most, not being on a list of necessities or affordable and in the small amount of time before a storm surge like this with major demand on all goods, so you have to do whatever else you can. Maybe some hotplates can run on batteries or propane, for heating water. Or small camping stoves.
