There’s nothing wrong with saying you love storms, but when you say it while talking about an actual storm that is currently ruining thousands of lives, it’s pretty tactless.
It’s the same as saying “I love guns” while discussing the Colorado massacre; it’s all about context as well as common sense.
I hope you use better judgement when you are actually out in the field or the people you want to help might react unfavorably.
I dunno, if someone told me they “love” guns I’d be a little sketched out too.
It’s actually millions and not thousands.

If you were in one of the places where the entire basement was filled with water and first floor flooded and dumb enough to not have evacuated, you would have wished to be Aquaman.
The real question is, how are the millions of people without power going to get by. To be more clear, I’m referring to the elderly and people whose health is not that great. Also, after a week, people who did not prepare and are without power will see food in their fridge go bad. Those people may resort to crime as witnessed from Katrina experience.
What are you a sissy?? As a firearms enthusiast myself, I can tell you that most gun “lovers” are not imminent threats to society like some people want you to believe.
Some people like to collect firearms the same way other people collect comics, video games, dumb shit, etc.

I don’t have a problem with guns or interest in guns, but its just one of those things where hyper-enthusiasm can be very unsettling. I’m not sketched out by someone who has a shotgun in their closet, but someone who has a Sarah Connor shed I’m gonna stay away from. Hard to generalize though cause theres also historical value to many weapons.
Well I won’t lie, if I saw someone with a Sarah Connor shack complete with mini-guns and rocket launchers, I would be a little freaked myself.
Guns also hold their value extremely well so they can make a pretty solid investment, depending on what kinds you get of course.
I don’t know if this is a bit late or not, but canned tuna and sauerkraut and bread if you can have it, are an excellent combination in these situation.
Also, if you don’t have running water, please pee and poo in a hole in your backyard and plug/cover the hole with the excavated dirt. Don’t let that stuff marinade in your toilet and/or do not waste clean and potable water just to flush your toilet.
O and by the way, what the heck would you do with a gun? Nigga you need a good axe, a chainsaw, shovels (wide and narrow), aaaaannnnd lots of candles.

Thanks for the pro tip, but I was talking about gun collecting in a general sense, not post-Sandy survival. You can see the origin of that mini-tangent if you read the past few posts.
Sandy is now costing me money. I lost a freelance contract because I didn’t act fast enough. Yeah, I’m sorry my train in NJ is flooded with no start date in sight and my power is gone. I will miss that check, though. Fuck, man. That would have made sure I didn’t have to work a full-time job in a while. Now I gotta go find a real job. =/

I find it ironic that I get called out for saying “I like storms” when someone is telling me to commit suicide by shooting myself in the mouth.

PS: I also love fire. It cooks my food and keeps me warm. This of course means I am responsible for all the fires that have broken out because of this storm, and pretty much in the history of ever. I deserve to be burned at the stake. How dare I.
