This totally works, I have no idea how it could be useful though. Making it even less useful is the fact that if you cross over them with the Thunderbolt it will actually super away from them. Impressive.
Or better yet you could not use that useless move lol.I wonder if like in the next months we’ll find a way to use it and look back and say: “Remember guys when we said Thunder bolt was useless?” Probably the answer is gonna be “But it’s still useless even now” , though.
IIRC it IS the slowest starting move in the game, right?Framedata says it’s about around 40, right?
Everyone needs to try option-selecting c. MP into light machine gun blow. Throw it out and if it whiffs, nothing happens…but if it connects, free light MCB that’s safe on block! It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite tools with Dudley.
Does j.lk crossup work on anybody else? @SandKing Yeah I’d imagine it’s pretty good because i use cr.mk xx shouoken with sakura a lot, and that’s unsafe on block, so having a safe on block OS is pretty good.
J.lk cross up confirmed. Seems like you might have to set it up with a block string because the spacing is so tight. So far i’ve come up with Kidney blow, cr.jab, cr.jab forward jump and Kidney blow, cr.jab, st.short. Will update which character specifics as i get more familiar with them.
Edit: the more i test it the more i think its use is very small. Mainly because a setup requires the opponent to work with it in order for it to work. Some characters you can’t combo after the cross-up. May come in handy against characters it’s easy to hit with to open up their defense every once in a while as a cheese tactic. But it just seems there are much more reliable tools that do the same job and do it better.
Edit 2: if anybody is still interested. First setup works on ryu, ken, dhalsim and im assuming other like builds. Second is on balrog. Didn’t test all characters because of above edit.
maybe you could use J.lk cross up during their wake up on corner sorta like a 50-50? but other than that i dont really see much use of it…plus you gotta jump pretty deep to link say st.hk after it
I would like to know more about Dudley’s potential cross-up so please keep reporting whatever you can. I will experiment a little with it myself when I get home. Apparently it works best on grapplers so I’ll try it on Hakan, gief, T. hawk.
Yeah, timing is real character specific and grapplers are pretty easy to land it on.
Some characters you have to hit them really high with it to cross up and it doesn’t combo.
Works on the top row of characters so far. will keep updating. just popping in.
Edit 1: i find that it works better when you cancel the first jab into the second instead of linking.
Edit 2: Tested and confirmed on the whole cast. f.mk cr.jab xx cr.jab and f.mk s.jab xx s.jab works on most of the “normal-sized” characters
Blanka, Balrog, Grapplers, Seth, Abel, Sagat, El Fuerte, and Ibuki, Adon all gave me trouble crossing-up, but they are all doable.
You can do a mixups with thunderbolt with cr.lk cr.lp cr.mp xx lk/mk Thunderbolt. lk doesn’t cross up but mk does. Kinda similar to Honda’s body splash, it can be hard to block correctly.
I’m not saying you should do it, just saying it’s there.
From some testing I did last night f+mp, cr.mk, and cr.hk are all okay at counterpoking Ryu’s cr.mk. If you hit/trade with cr.hk you can juggle with hp MGB. Cr.mp is actually pretty garbage against cr.mk - it will only ever win if Ryu isn’t at max range for cr.mk. Otherwise it will whiff or lose. So I would not suggest cr.mp OS mp MGB vs shoto low forward. I didn’t test cr.lk, but it would probably do okay because it has 4 active frames.
yeah i like cr.lk for shoto cr.mk. i think you mistyped in the bold underline above.
and yeah, cr.mp is pretty garbage vs cr.mk from shotos.
Also, i really should’ve saved the replay to remember what happened, but i was able to land a cr.hk into m.mgb. was 7 hits total. don’t know if it’ll ever be useful, but there might that might mean that EX MGB or fierce mgb also can juggle. hopefully it wasn’t a counter hit.
So, if someone wanted to test out the jugglability of mp and fp mgb, that would be cool.
put it in the suggestion box and i’ll get back to you in 4-6 weeks.
EDIT 1: So, i was just messing around in training mode and J.HK Crosses up on Hakan "the elbow"
lawdy lawdy. will test more and figure out an actual setup, but i wanted to let everyone know. I’m gonna try it on some more people, but this could be potentially big.
EDIT 2:
Alright, another update.
Setups for j.lk cross up for Hakan:
f.mp
f.hk >> s.mk Target combo
Crossing up j.hk in corner on hakan is EZPZ.
f.mk >> s.mk Target combo setup to j.lk crossup also works on most of the big characters too.
Confirmed on Zangief, T. Hawk, Sagat.
im kinda tired so, if anyone would like to hit the lab with more info PLEASE post updates you find!
