Dudley's Overview and Analysis of his Moveset and its Attributes

Is a MGB loop possible? For example, could I do lp MGB > lp > lp MGB > etc.?

^ No. Or atleast, it shouldn’t.

I feel like Dudley is at a disadvantage on opponent wake up right now. 50/50 doesn’t exist the same way in IV as 3s, and that was the foundation to my game. But, I’m thinking that new move he has might be his 50/50 option on opponent wakeup now. I haven’t gotten much time in with Duds but that was my main in 3s and I am not feeling him too much in IV.

I kinda feel like they made him too tall.

With my time spent I have seen a bunch of f.HKs literally just go through guys that were crouching. I’ve been thrown out of it while they were crouched also. Maybe this is just internet lag. Ducking seems like it doesn’t go far enough to me.

I already miss parrying those EX MGBs in mirror matches too :frowning:

It’s not possible, but you can at least pressure with it. Basically, what I’ve been doing is LP MGB > cr. LP > LP MGB > etc. Sometimes the opponent will try to attack and you’ll catch them with the crouch jab.

Probably known already but there’s no reason to super cancel his uppers as far as I can see. Just doing lp upper and juggling with super nets 40 more damage and is easy. Totally thinking about making Dudley my sub to Rose. He hits like a bus and Makoto is way to hard to even attempt to play online :frowning:

If you’re leaving Mak for Dud’s because she’s too hard, you might of picked the wrong character.

Funny thing I just found out about Victory Rose - it stops Seth in the middle of his wall jump arc and any follow up moves. It still doesn’t hit, it just, uh, stops him. Could be useful for altering a Seth’s planned jump trajectory… but probably not. I let you guys play around with that and go back to U1 'Buk.

i’ve used the Rose Throw so many times now to stop Giefs and T.Hawks super slow jumps. On reaction you can even stop a Blankas Rainbow Ball before he makes it halfway across the screen.

Can somebody clarify this for me, I spent about 3 hours last practicing in training and finally figured out how to land LP, MP, MK XX Duck , MGB, Super, etc.

Why does it only work when I press and hold Back then LP, MP, MK, XX whatever,this is my follow up combo to a F + HK and it works pretty well if I land the overhead

But can you actually cancel a standing MP (or B+MP )into ducking, etc? Cuz I can’t fucking do it lol,

Also what’s a good punish for blocking Juri’s flying kick out of the air?

Why the hell is so hard to combo a special move after standing HK??!I would think with a big meat uppercut like that you have a lot of time to link into something else :frowning:

i think the rose helps when you are against a rushdown character like ibuki, gouken, and akuma. it takes ibuki out of her super jump and i am sure it stops the demon flip.

I dunno, I’ve been way more sucessful with Dudlty. His combos are a lot easier to me. His general game plan is is easier to execute because of the easier combos. My Makoto execution isn’t that great, but I picked up f_hk, hk link on my 2nd try

Yes he can, but it doesn’t seem to be as useful.

those are rushdown characters? you sure about that?

Right now I’ve been using the rose to lock down opponents in the corner when I know they are going to try to jump out but I haven’t found any way to use it in blockstrings. I guess maybe after EX MGB to mix up your opponent on wake-up but I’m not sure how practical that is.

Even a mediocre Ibuki player will punish you for throwing a rose.

As for Akuma and Gouken, by the time the rose is above them, ready to hit their demon flip they’ve already landed on you. You can psychic throw it and catch I bet but why would anyone risk that?

Don’t have the game yet, but it looks like rose is meant to gain position. Has anyone tested it’s properties on wakeup reversal moves, both ex and normal? Can you throw your opponent before it makes contact? Can d+mk be used as an untechable juggle ender a la akuma sweep? I’m also assuming rose can be used as a juggle starter if your opponent gets hit by it in the air. Correct me if i’m wrong.

No, it has no juggle potential. Also, if you hit an airborn opponent with cr.mk it actually launches them like cr.hk.

Ok, so I found something pretty situational, but could bring a lot of use to Short-swing blow. It may or may not have been discussed before, but you can focus attack dash cancel into Ultra2 off it right, well there is more to ex ssb.

You can also reset with any normal and with certain ones, you can get an ambiguous cross up by ducking under them, at the last moment.

Just something, I thought I’d share.

Reminds me of all of his old resets from 3s.

ALSO, you can do the same with his focus attack.

FA2-3 wait until they are almost on the ground, cr.short or jab XX ducking for ambiguous crossup.

Victory rose is GDLK and its very useful. As mentioned above great against T.Hawk types and pissing off turtles. Make the turtles come at you with this move. Dudley wants them to get close…
