Dudley’s worse Mactches are Chun, Bison, Ryu, Gief, Viper, Rose, Balrog, Fei Long, and Sim. Juri might have a slight advantage but I still think it’s 5-5. Personally, I think Chun, Rose and Viper are the hardest characters to open up, behind Guile. Fei can do whatever the hell he wants at mid range against Dudley, and Dudley still has to work to get damage after a knock down. You can’t pressure smart Bison’s for free, so it’s relatively hard to open him up as well.
Everyone else is either even against Dudley or at a disadvantage.
Have you played any good Rose’s? I’ve ran sets offline with Gootecks, and a player named S2JJ who I think is the best Rose in my state. Tecks thinks the matchup is like 7-3 because you can’t focus Rose in footsies and all of her pokes beat yours. You can’t OS her backdash either without giving up all of your pressure, and her crouching fierce beats all of Dudley’s jump ins. Exactly what do you think Dudley has going for him in this match? I’d love to hear it because this is literally the only matchup that I haven’t even come close to figuring out in this game.
Simply stating to “beat Rose with footsies” doesn’t make sense at high level play. Matchup charts are made under the assumption that both players are playing their characters to maximum potential. Rose has one of the best normal move sets in the game, and should never lose to a majority of characters on the ground, much less Dudley who is already lacking in that department. Soul Spark can be faked/FADC’d, and punishing her spiral is just a guess because they don’t always use them to finish their block strings.Smart Rose players aren’t going to rely on spiral strings all the time because they know it’s punishable just as much as you do.
Simply saying to play “better” than your opponent doesn’t mean anything when determining the difficulty of a matchup. If you inherently have to play better/out smart the opponent to win, then that shows that one person needs to be working harder than the other. If that’s the case, then you’re basically admitting the match up is in Rose’s favor because she doesn’t have to work as hard or take the amount of risks that Dudley needs to win.

What kind of Dudley has to jump
I jump when I see or anticipate my opponent to throw out a high recovery poke on screen. You can jump punish plenty of characters sweeps in this game, or at least force them to block after the animation of whatever poke their using ends. For example, you can jump over Bison’s St. RH, and force him to block your jumpin if he doesn’t want to eat a combo. Same goes for Ryu’s sweep, Vega st. HK, etc etc. Rose however can throw out whatever pokes she wants and she’ll always have time to cr. fierce your jumpin. She can literally sit there, watch you jump, slide, and then cr. HP all before you even land. She can press so many buttons in this matchup it’s absurd.
I agree though, Dudley doesn’t need to leave his feet, but it’s hard not to if you know how to jump in properly.

online experience only goes so far, once you know how to fight the matchup you probably won’t punish them online like rose slide is -3, online I can’t punish it with cr.lk or cr.lp into ex duck upper/lp.mgb but offline I can punish those pretty well.
I keep track of frame data but online will screw it over. xbox live, computers no matter online will screw up your punishes which dudley needs to do to win. I go to offline sessions to practice majority of the time anyway, practicing online then jumping into a offline tournament will throw your timing off which results in dropped combos.
Another thing about dudley is turtling online is horribad it’s crazy. I’m there turtling against a blanka and he goes for slide but since it’s online i can’t block low in time and i get smacked up.
Let’s say a move comes out on frame 5 and your there turtling to close space and you see the move you go to block but since online cuts back on your reactions by 1-3 frames you will get fucked almost everytime by doing precise blocking. Online blocking and teching is retarded and sometimes option selects doesn’t even work online.

It’s not even about them going into training mode or figuring out on their own, you make a statement, someone ask why and then you “why do i have to explain to online players” which is exactly what you are or “I played you, you can’t even xyz, not going to tell”.

Based on this character’s community, you would think he’s the worst character in the game. All this forum did at Evo was poke fun at the other Dudley’s for being bad and how can they not be bad when SRK’s Dudley board is nothing but circle jerking? The one place anywhere that should be brimming with Dudley knowledge is not even half full.
To anyone trying to play SF4 and thinking of picking Dudley, don’t. Pick a character with a better, more helpful and knowledgeable userbase. It’ll save you the headache and you might actually find some actual discussion about fighting characters vs live people.
