Dudley: A Distinguished Thread for Gentlemen Pugilists

Yea then whats the point of comboing into it? Why not just uppercut? Its just a better choice IMO.

Vega will go GAR for Dudley. Mark my words.

Yeah, comboing into the uppercut will be more effective dmg and stunwise.

Thunderbolt should be rdp + k

Untechable knockdown for wakeup shenanigans.

thunderBolt has crazy cross up potential , it sucked in 2i coz it was Unsafe on HIT , in ssf4 though it knocks down so it’ll have its uses

Like I said, It’ll all depend on if it is like Air Stampede.

I don’t see why people are still complaining about his thunderbolt. I mean, if you don’t want to use it, then don’t use it. Not that hard to think about. And if it’s actually an integral part of his strategy, all ya do is hold the certain direction down for 2 seconds. Doesn’t take that much brain power.

Duds resembles SSB64 and Melee Falcon.

I forgot Brawl even existed.

It’s 2010 and people are up in arms about a non charge character getting ONE charge move. Q had one real charge move in 3S and nobody complained about that.

Either way Capcom more than likely just threw in Thunderbolt punch for variety’s sake. It will just be one more option he has to catch people throwing bad fireballs. Though I think by design it was never meant to be a move that should be abused or used regularly like Claw wall dive or Rufus dive. It’s just one of those things that you just have to have an opportunity for and use it. Now that it finally knockdown on hit the move will have a use. Dudley’s game will obviously not really implement Thunderbolt Punch that often and I think it’s almost unnecessary for him to have the move. In 3rd Strike Thunder Bolt punch would be of zero use to him cuz he already had enough things to go through fireballs including ducking and a low arcing jump with a super long ranged j.HK that gave him the perfect hit box for flying over projectiles. If he keeps that same low jump arc and his fireball beating j.HK he’ll be good. Especially if his ducking goes past all fireballs like it did in 3S.

Hey, maybe it’ll teach me how to play charge characters if I have to think about holding a charge sometimes.

By the way I don’t know if it’s covered but I have been thinking Jet Uppercut FADC > Corkscrew… Could work O_O

I think it’s greatest use will be when you are doing a lot of jumping to avoid a string of fireballs. This will mask the charge beautifully, and against opponents with lesser reaction time will likely only see yet another jumped over fireball till it’s too late.

let’s see if the startup on the EX version has some invincibility.

I was thinking that too. Dudley’s generally offensive gameplan could basically work into the charging of the Thunderbolt. If you’re any SF player (like myself) that uses charge and non charge SF characters between different games it shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out.

Only if you never want to be able to do a Short Swing Blow within a second or so of holding back on the controller, which is to say…ever.

That same motion overlap and the conflict with block is one of the (numerous) reasons that Gouken’s Tatsu sucks so bad.

Ibuki has 8 special moves so just like 3S she’s going to have her share of move overlap too.

dudley just isn’t dudley if his voice isn’t like it was in 3s.

ultra’s look good… except for the spinning >.>
lol thunderbolt was always useless. that’s why they gave him back swing blow instead. wasn’t it a charge move too?

Well, let’s see here: Have very little moves, but no move overlap(Guile for example)…or have a shit load of moves, and deal with move overlaps(Ibuki)…which one is more important, or, which one is more of a problem?

that’s just guile sucking
