Dudley: A Distinguished Thread for Gentlemen Pugilists

Wow, really? I mean, Sagat I get, what with Seth saying he’s ST good and Keno saying he’s very clearly gonna be tops again. But Ryu? I didn’t think they’d really ‘buffed’ Ryu, so I’m surprised hear that so late on they might make drastic changes.

Based on everything Keno said, it sounded like he was playing the Vegas build except with the new characters.

I just remembered, one of the rumors said that Dudley was looking for a special rose in his story, right?

Obviously that special rose is the one he has in SFIII, and in SSFIV he has a “garden variety” (Ba-dum-tish) rose.

Thus explaining why it does no damage, but does in SFIII.

It’s good to see Capcom respecting the established canon like this.

I have a feeling capcom is rushing this game so they can have a mid march release.

Yesterday in this very thread.

You do know that the SET RELEASE DATE IN AMERICA IS APRIL 27th, 2010.

There is no mid march release.

It’s twice. The way the game works, it’s juggle system, is very specific. Dudley’s first sweep puts them in a float state, you’ll be able to hit them with normals at this point. Dudley’s second sweep will put them in a standard knockdown state, only certain moves with juggle potential will be able to work–many specials, ultra’s, and very few normals have juggle potential. Since Dudley’s sweep will almost undoubtedly -not- have juggle potential, it’s safe to assume that after 2, since it has no juggle potential and at this point it would require something that did, it won’t go on.

Third Strike’s juggle system was much more different, that was basically just a “This move hits, you can continue juggling, if THIS move hits, you can’t keep it going.” I’m sure it was deeper than that, but in that game characters like Akuma could do some seriously nasty corner combo juggling for -insane- damage.

j.fp > s.fp xx lk.tatsu > lp.srk xx super hadouken > lp.srk xx super hadouken > lp.srk, for instance. Even Ryu could do things like s.fp xx hadouken xx super hado > super hado > fp.srk or s.fp xx fp.srk xx shin shoryu > Hadouken / Mule Kick.

4’s Juggle system is significantly more limited and way more strict. I actually have the stickied thread in the SF4 general forums going into detail about it–it’s not 100% accurate, but for all intents and purposes it’s a “just about perfect” explanation of how it all works.

People hating on Dudley and wanting him nerfed, are people who just want the top tiers to stay the same so they don’t get raped by someone who might happen to have been dexterity and knowledge of good close range games. I can’t wait for people to hate on me raping them with Dudley–and lurking to see whenever I lose just to say " All that work…" lol

Even as time passes, as much as things changes some things stay the same.

I wonder if his punch and cross move has become less useless, possible bait for shoryuken mashers?

The new characters were not in the USC (Keno) build. It was the same exact build from vegas.

Real Talk

People just want Dudley nerfed to High Tier just so they could play an “okay” character but have an excuse when they lose. “Oh, I fought against Sagat. The reason why I lost was because he’s top tier. Oh well.”

That’s lame. In 3S people prided themselves mostly for being Yun players since people knew it wasn’t a walk in the park to pick him up and spam lariat or bum rush with FADC Ultra and get wins. Plus he had shit health to boot. A bad Yun was a free win in tournaments. More top tiers should be like that. I think that’s why they’re toning down Sagat a bit too so that when he does win his matches it was more about controlling a character who outside shoryu FADC Ultra and trade f+HK has pretty technical stuff that needs solid timing and ingenuity to win with.

I’m ok with top tiers as long as they make the game interesting and don’t strip you of everything you can do.

I Hope Dudley is Top Tier , not #1 though . Personally I’m not a fan of getting auto-hate coz I use the #1 character , Ive experienced that shit when i mained Nu in BB and Eddie in GG . It sucked

Well, you kind of deserve it for those two xDD I mean, they are pretty ridiculous characters.

You shouldn’t worry about that. I chose to not pick a top tier in 3S though not because I was worried about the hate. People can hate all they want. It’s a freaking video game. Who cares if they hate. They’re hating on a video game not you. I mained a half assed mid tier in 3S because I knew she would bring something different to the table and fit my style of play. Though if I switch to Chun I wasn’t going to be worried about what people were calling me cuz in the end you’re still winning and still outplaying the player. Sometimes it is true and some top tiers just get away with dumb shit that isn’t really indicative of your skill level but especially in a tournament unless the character is shit broken they just have to be better than you in the end. If they can’t prove themselves to be better than you with the character they use then they need to pick a better one for the matchup or go back to Halo.

SFIV isn’t that bad as far as tiers go because the characters that I think are the dumbest and annoy me the most aren’t even really characters number 1 and 2. If it wasn’t for shoryu FADC Ultra I wouldn’t complain about Ryu or Sagat and if Gief’s lariat wasn’t so retarted I wouldn’t complain about that either. Though when someone wins no matter how much I bitch or complain in the end I should have just had the better game because I know other players can beat those characters with my character. Viper’s worst matches aren’t even against the best characters of the game. At most just very solid ones between Gief and Honda.

Then you’re overly sensitive. Play who you like, fuck the rest. If Dudley is Top tier, I’m not playing him because he’s top tier, I’m playing him because he, as a character, as a playstyle, suits me best.

Even for those that do whore top-tier characters for wins, who cares? Don’t concern yourself with what they’re doing. I forgot who said it best but, “Low-tier hero pride is asinine.” It’s like these people that want Guile to get better, but not good enough so people flock to him, because they want to feel like they’re unique or something for playing a low tier unpopular character. I played Sean pretty heavily (as well as Oro) in 3rd Strike, sure as hell wasn’t because he was good.

I pick the character based on how cool I think they are. Before SF4 dropped I said “Sakura is going to be my main” She turned out low tier but I sticked with her (added Seth because he’s fucking badass).

SSFIV I have already decided on juri, Mak and Ibuki, plus the old ones. It’ll be beautiful.

…For as long as i played 3rd strike, Dudley was always the character that worked best with me, which is strange because as i said, i’m usually all about the charge characters. He has this flow that i was just always comfortable with and at the same time was a technical character. At this point, his tier status or whatever doesn’t bother me as much as it used to. We’re about to have Dudley playable again, and i’m ecstatic. All i have to do at this point is translate what i already know into IV with only a few minor adjustments. Those who might be whoring him out and shit come release can do what they want, i already know that I, and a food portion of people on this thread, will be at an advantage.

I was the same way. I loved sakura back in Alpha 3. She was my original main in IV along with Akuma. Then i discovered Chun, and i fell in love suprisingly. =)

lol a turd huh. You should try looking in a mirror to really see some young piece of shit.
And i will assume you are a sf4 scrub, who started out in sf4, unless you want to try to prove that over psn.
Good luck haha.

likewize i knewi was gunna main abel because i liked his style and his super was gangster.so dudley and cody are my new projects when super comes out
