But any type of of combo into Ultra is 30% decrease right? Or does that apply for FADC>Ultra (for the ones who can do it in Super)? So would the scaling make a difference?
Yeah the damage decrease is on FADC. Anything after an FADC gets reduced by 30 percent.
What? No, this is flat out wrong.
Damage Scaling in SF4, per attack input:
1- 100%
2-100%
3-80%
4-70%
5-60%
6-50%
7-40%
8-30%
9-20%
10-10%
11-10%
12-10%
etcetera
Ultras scale once before they hit in addition to scaling additional hits. So on plain SRK FADC ultra the ultra does 80% of its full damage. I know focuses scale twice too but I dunno if it’s before or after they hit.
Note that I said per input so Ken’s EX Tatsu counts as one attack but Chun’s jumping target combo counts as two.
FADCs have nothing to do with scaling besides allowing additional combo hits.
So I’m assuming that building meter is gonna be a lot faster in this game.
Well as far as I know FADC supposedly adds an extra 2 “invisible hits” to whatever combo you were doing. So FADC either way DOES add damage scaling to any combo in some way. Now it probably adds an extra hit or 2 of reduction. I’ve read in multiple posts already that FADC will scale damage further. What I’ve been hearing so far is that whatever gets FADC’d in Super will be knocked down in damage by what appears to be 30 percent. I don’t know if that’s just due to how the extra “hits” added to FADC makes the damage look 30 percent weaker on everything or what. Though of course that’s just what I’ve heard multiple people say.
Basically what I’m getting at is that if you FADC anything it just won’t do the damage it used to no matter what the mechanics truly are.
looks like it kinda, the way duds and ibuki gain meter so fast. Idk about the rest of the cast though
I’m telling you, if FADCs decrease damage in combos that’s a new thing for Super that’s not in vanilla SF4. If you don’t believe me, go try doing Ryu’s SRK FADC ultra and come back.
Yeah I’m just talking about what I heard about Super really. I heard FADC decreased damage or added “hits” in Vanilla also though if you say it’s not true then I’ll agree.
Lots of characters can beat out EX SBK, to the point that characters like Abel have bad matchups against her almost just because they can’t stuff it like Gief/Akuma/Rufus/Bison/Viper can. It’s not like Chun can’t mess with Viper too. The problem with the matchup is that Chun just doesn’t have Viper’s damage output, partly because her Ultra is almost useless in the matchup. Ultra 2 fixes this issue.
More generally though, no, Chun’s not going to shoot up the tier lists. Yeah, her damage output got some help in certain matchups, and that was an issue, but so were focus fishing and anti airs, and people are saying both focuses and jumps got faster, so that’s all even. And I’m not seeing anything to help her with dive kicks, so Akuma is still going to grind her pretty little hairbuns into the dirt.
Wow- I can’t believe I didn’t think to post the link to the video I made HERE for the perusal of the most equitable gentlemen on the planet.
Thank you most kindly for checking it out- if I make more I shall surely post them here
Oh I definitely know Viper’s damage output is the number one reason that match is not in Chun’s favor. It’s just crapping on EX SBK don’t help a bit. Plus Ultra 1 doesn’t even connect in the corner fully on Viper without tricky EX SBK setups that waste meter.
…I honestly think given the situation, using the 1 EX stock is an ok sacrifice. Though a Chun with a full super is very dangerous, so is one who is utilizing what she has properly. In this situation, use the stock.
That being said, i love how this thread has turned into a Chun discussion.
Never got to play the sf3 games ( I was a young one) but I was always into sf2 and the vs series. Any way now that I can play some 3rd strike characters I cant wait. Dudley looks fun to play and he was cool in the manga so yeah I can’t wait to try him out!
It’s complete BS how Dudley can combo pretty much everything into his super/ultra and no one is complaining about this and he’s pretty much God tier at this point, but when Ryu has an advantage with his fierce shoryuken fadc ultra, people are crying foul. Thing is: Ryu’s combo links aren’t going to be anywhere near as easy to perform as Dudley’s. Also, Sagat is slow as hell. This is complete BS, imo, and I don’t even main Ryu.
Dudley’s footsie game isn’t going to be GDLK like Ryu’s or Balrog’s is so that will keep Dudley from being too stupid right there. Dudley’s uppercuts won’t be that strong outside of EX uppercut so he won’t be the shoryu throwing into ultra shit that Ryu was in the old game either. Dudley will have weaknesses and honestly…what game do the tiers ever stay the same? If your character was top tier and they’re not top tier no more…oh well. Just man it up and use the other strong tools they still have.
Unless Dudley has awesome footsies he won’t be god tier just like Sagat in Vanilla wasn’t god tier. You can bet Dudley will still have weaknesses just like Sagat did even with shoryu FADC and trade ultra.
He was a blast to play in third strike and he looks great in action in SF4 too! Which Manga are you talking about, and where can i get my hands on it? must…read…
From the podcast chat, it sounds like the LP and MP uppercuts don’t have invincibility but the HP one does. Good to know atleast.
I called that one like a month ago.
Just like 3s pretty much where his DPs were for combos only (besides EX dp).
i dunno dawg i kinda agree with the other guy he probally will have decent footsies and all the ways to combo into ultra and the only thing they gave guile is a pair of sunglasses and a pat on the ass lol id have no problem with dudleys ultra setups if i didnt feel that the rest of the cast wouldnt have half the options for ultra he has but i could be wrong.if so srry fro my ignorance lol
Meh don’t worry about that. As long as Dudley doesn’t have easy mode trade shoryu or shoryu FADC into his shit then who cares. Dudley is going to require a lot of work to make top tier and those are the fighting games I liked. The games where the top tiers could actually be pressured, had holes and required work. They didn’t have silly crutches like invincible moves that are safe on block or combos into Ultra that gave you 10 seconds to set up.
Plus Dudley should have a solid footsie game but I just don’t think it’ll end up being as strong as even Rog’s. Dudley had solid footsies in 3S but he didn’t really have the best footsie game either. He just had a good few solid normals with s.HK, s.HP, c.MP and the occasional perfectly placed c.MK and c.HK. Overall Dudley is going to be more about the close range game like he was in 3S. I have a pretty good feeling Ibuki will have the best footsies of all of the 3S characters. Just like she did in 3S.
