I’d recommend you check out the Dubstep Allstars series. Listen to the album and notice which artist/style/songs catch your ear. Then go from there.
Dubstep all stars are old but have some good shit,
Go cop Bengas essential mix and join the dubstep forums. some of my favorite artists are right here from america!
claw
but like seriously if you want some good stuff hit me up.
This tune is pure CRACK. Heard it at my first dubstep party the other night. I’ll never forget it.

XI’s and Matt Carls radio show on streamism is one of my favorite radio shows.
A friend of a friend of mines made this mix and I just thought I would bump and share…
Thanks for this gem of a link!
I find dubstep interesting but I’d rather listen to straight dub still. There is a sense that there isn’t building to anything super sweet in this dubstep whozidoesit. I’m hearing the original songs for a second and just want the original. I rarely hear the guitar in this dubstep. The guitar chops are essential man! It helped give dub the rock.
I like bass and ‘out there’ sounds panning around and so I like dubstep?
Man I swear electronic music has more subgenres than anything. I need to be schooled so badly. All I know is that I <3 house. So thanks for the link.
“Down Satan Down” by Alec Empire
Anything called “Dubstep” I would assume has some origins from “Dubplate” which has roots from Jamaica… Just my two cents…
I am not feeling it yet. Sounds like slow version of hardstyle. I can’t explain it but I think it could be a better genre. Awe, its too slow for me.
Hell yea a Dubstep thread. I too just got into it and one of my favorite artists is Burial.
He uses the sounds from MGS3 to actually make the beats, for example using the gun pick up noise etc. But after you listen to it you will be amazed at what he does.

Rusko is also incredibly good.
Bionic Commando remix is all kinds of awesome.
Oh by the way, remember this horrible song?

These is the people that made the actual song.

My god, dubstep is probably bigger now than Drum n bass used to be. I’m hearing it everywhere.
Been listening to alot of Ramadanman lately. Great shit.
So glad someone made a thread for this.
I personally am into darker drum n bass along with heavier dubstep, although ambient stuff can be nice too. Here’s some great mixes that feature a ton of different artists and songs:
[studio] EXCISION - SHAMBHALA 2008 MIX : Mixes
Excision - Shambhala 2009 Dubstep Mix : Mixes
Big Basha - Summer Dubstep Promo 2010 : Mixes
InspectorDubplate - Inspector Dubplate - The Moustache Mixtape - SoundCloud
Also I highly recommend you go out and see a live show, they are tons of fun.

Not true at all, dub, which is lyricless or limited lyric usage reggae often using bizzare sound effects and such, artists like prince jammy, scientist, and so on, has nothing to do with dubplates.
Also has no origins from Jamaica, another uk thing, which i’m not proud of this time haha
Possibly the worst genre to come out of the uk since grime or happy hardcore
Where? the usa?
definently not in the uk, not by a long shot, when dubstep gets into the charts is used on adverts played on commercial radio stations, and so on then maybe just maybe you can say dubstep is as big as jungle / dnb, but as it is now, it’s not even close, not by a country mile.
is it bigger than dnb now? maybe even probably, which aint really saying much seeing as dnb/jungle has been dead for years and years now.
You have had to been in the uk from 91 to 96 to appreciate how massive the jungle scene was, well 10 thousand people at a rave EVERY weekend god knows how many raves a week each and everyone ram packed, people raving in the streets music being played on stations that usually played teeny bopper shit it really was everywhere!
Dubstep yeah you got a few raves a station like kiss might play it but kiss play every sort of dance music, i dont hear dubstep out side of a dubstep rave, i dont even hear people talking about dubstep unless it’s at OR talking about a rave.
It’s got a long way to go, will it last? probably not you only have to look at jungle grime hardcore garage, dubstep is no different
i meant the US, I live in the UK, and I clearly remember jungle from 91-96. To get off topic for a sec, UK garage/funky house was bigger than Jungle ever was from 2000 - 04 when that fizzled out dubstep emerged.
