I decided to post this here as well as the dbz thread in general discussion…the roles for goku and piccolo in the movie got cast…>.>
Edit: what 4649 said reminds me…next sequal i want them to expand on tag matches a bit…have like tag-in attacks or original double supers or something…I think it’d be awesome to to see vegeta and goku perform a final flash kamehameha sandwich on someone.
i think they redubed all the music but to be honest, i haven’t watched the US series all that much, though I’ve seen all of DBZ and read all the comics, and I watched all of GT as well because they replayed the entire series before they played the final episode (in japan).
I have kind of a lame question, is there a training mode in the game and does it show what combos are possible? Or is it in the manual?
I hope red potaras arent going to be allowed in competitive play because those things are busted as fuck and they completely remove the ability to actually create your character.
Good to see people on this game. They really changed alot of the stuff from BT2
to this one. Its much like a rendition of how Tekken 5 and 5.1 are. As a matter of fact its almost the exact same concept which is cool.
Nah no item or create a character options (custom) will be allowed in cometetive play. Maybe if people like to do it for fun and create a character on both then its whatever but definetly not tournament.
Had some pretty good matches over the weekend playing different people and seeing theyre variety in characters which there are a fucking lot! lol
Im been using pretty much. Fasha (who can only turn Great Ape on Stages with Moonlight) which is a mad cool concept but King Vegeta and Turles can just Summon a Moon to Transform Great while Fasha needs to be on a level with one… Kid Trunks, Android 8, Ultimate Gohna, Nova & Syn Shenrons amongst a few. Other people are using guys like Cell, Kid Buu, Vega 2nd form and so forth. As soon as I can get ahold of a camcorder I will get to recording some matches and uploading them here
Oh btw anybody going to NEC I will have the game with me so we can set up some casuals let me know!
No customs for competitive play? That’s really stupid IMO. Removing customs makes the game more broken and kills a huge portion of the strategy. At least when I play against my friends once they pick up this game, we’ll always be using customs.
Every character becomes completely usable with potaras. Matches like LSSJ Broly vs Chiaotzu won’t be rigged. Hercule is a usable character.
I say customs should be used in competitive play because it balances the game (there are no really stupid match ups) and it adds layers of strategy to using the specific characters.
What’s the reasoning behind not using any customs in competitive play?
Edit: Red potaras shouldn’t be used because you have to access them through cheating devices…
Whats your reasoning or are you just talking randomly because it sounds good? =
If you vote for something like that, I would probably suggest you come up with a reason for it instead of just voting randomly =\
Sprawlers: Your right, Potara’s add so much depth to the game, i dont even remotely understand why you wouldnt want to have that in tournys. With out them TBH the game would be completely lopsided to characters with hyper armor/insane abilities/incredible attack power etc. I know for a fact that me and my friends will be playing with them.
Ok theres something you guys have to understand and without me having to make a long discussion on why customs SHOULDNT and wont be used for tournament I’ll make it short and simple… Custom or Edit anything in any Fighting game is looked down on. Just like how the how the CVS 2 community has never and never will use EO or EO Mode for casual play let alone tournament simply because it makes no sense. When you talk about making Low Tier guys like Master Roshi more playable because he cant really hang with the majority of the cast well thats the reason there are Tiers in the game. The character isnt meant to hang with people like Broly and so forth just because thats the character no need to change him or edit him to make him balance.
Thats like making a custom Dan in CVS 2 with chains and all other types of moves against lets say Cammy… its cool…maybe fun to some people when they use it Online but again its not accepted by the mainstream competetor that wants to play the game on a more competetive level.
People really should stop trying to change a game that doesnt need to be changed in the first place. BT3 is nothing like 2 when comparing the balance of the game.
Right now we have about 15 in NY that play the game competitively locally and noone uses customs. Unfortunatley most of those guys dont post on SRK so they wont be able to tell you theyre point of views on it but once again its generally not accepted. Online is another thing however.
Edit: Btw Im having talks with the owner of magfest and once I get official word theres going to be a cash prize sponsored Budokai Tenkaichi 3 Tournament there. Hopefully some of you dudes can make it. I’ll keep you posted
I see one flaw in your argument. I’d like to see how you address it:
The reason customization is looked down upon is because the games that offer customization usually are arcade ports. The arcade versions don’t offer customization, while the console ports do. Because the arcade versions don’t offer the customization, while the console versions do, the tournies stay without customization just to cater to the arcade only audience.
For T3, this is not the case at all. Everybody plays the same game. It’s your fault if you ignore the customization. You’re neglecting a huge part of the game. dialupsucky was addressing how the game’s top tier characters have the best stats… and when you’re talking normal characters, he’s right.
When you explore the world that Spike has tried so hard to present, that isn’t the case. They didn’t revamp the entire customization for no reason. They nerfed stat-up potaras while giving yellow potaras a huge revamp for a reason.
If you want an example of a game that uses customization in tournament level play (that isn’t looked down upon), check out Super DBZ. People could easily be playing with just normal characters. That clearly isn’t the case.
