I installed the video converter pcb today. The arcade cabinet in running flawlessly, but my recording device is not able to capture video. I believe the pcb is installed correctly, and the issue lies with my capture device. Hopefully Ed will have better luck.
FIXED.
If only we could discover the secret of the ooze(speakers) then we’d be gravy. I feign ignorance though so I dont have to fight Frare at powerlevel %100. My tactics extend past the game!

(I’m the guy in the hat)
Alright, further update: Capture Card Left Harrisburg a few hours ago, and is still set to be delivered to me today.
I’ve got work today though, so I’ll probably capture a match or two of Melty Blood at Jordans just to give us an idea, and I’ll throw it on Youtube. I’ll probably hit up the machine on Weds or Thurs to do a test capture there, and we’ll be good to go.
A 3s guide will soon be kept on top of the cab for public use.
Alright, capture card came, took a few test captures, I’m uploading a Melty Blood match to youtube to demonstrate right now, video quality is icky because the TV’s output is pretty shitty, Audio is low because the TV’s output is pretty shitty. I could do a straight split but lol I don’t have a splitter with me. I’ll edit the post when I have the video uploaded.
youtube fucked the quality in the ass, once I actually play around with it i’m sure it’ll look nicer.
I realized tonight that there are red, green, and blue gain adjusts on the pcb. I probably couldn’t record because they were at zero. See the pic at the bottom of this page.
That’s something to play with if you have any issues capturing video, Ed.
I’ll keep that in mind, I’m probably heading up tomorrow to do some test captures.
<edit> is the capture card on the player 2 side? Also, where am I loooking for audio?
The pcb is located in the middle of the jamma harness which lies between the jamma board and the jamma extension harness. It’s easiest to access from the P2 (Orange buttons) side. One note of importance: if any of the jamma harnesses are plugged in upside down, they can fry the arcade board. I’ve labelled all the harness ends w “face up” to avoid this. I also left a composite cable attached to the pcb, in case you forget one.
Audio outputs are located in composite format on the jamma board, right next to where the jamma harness plugs into the jamma board. You’d need to feed the audio to a splitter so that it can go to both the arcade speakers and the capture device. I have a splitter but won’t be at Siren until Friday. You could try feeding one audio cable to the capture card and one to the cab, to get mono sound on both. Or just capture video alone. Good luck!
Another treat for everyone, this time we completely bypassed the TVs output and just ran the cables straight to the capture card. The video (and audio) results were much better. I just wish we weren’t looking at the capture window while playing, because it gave us the worst lag, as well as us using Controllers (I can’t play on pad anymore, suprised I got out those combos).
My favorite part of the video is when I forgot that I was playing Ryu and tried to EX hurricane (really? It just leaves you stationary in the air?).
Also, how long of AV cables do you have Danish? I’m piss broke, so if you’ve got cables and a coupler that would be fantastic.
I have one set of AV cables ~9.8ft long. I dunno what u mean by coupler, but I probably don’t have one.
edit:
Btw, I also don’t have any S-video to S-video or S-video to composite cables in case ur wondering.
question: does anyone play 3S on GGPO?
Not sure but i know fire chocobro and frare play on 2df. Think mwelsh plays on ggpo??? Otherwise I have no clue. I don’t!
I think most 3s internet pros (FC) would say that 2df is the way to go. (besides the cab!)
At this point, GGPO might have higher quality opponents. My connection’s always been better on 2df so I stick with that. I’ve heard that GGPO is better for ppl w higher end PCs.
I get on 2df once in a while, around 5-7 pm. Anyone here is welcome to challenge me if they see me online.
I play a lot on GGPO. I’m usually getting destroyed under the username Herschel. :bgrin: My buds and I play under the username Newgrounds sometimes.
The CPS3 games (3s, jojo) are a lot harder on your system than the CPS2 ones, so GGPO’s rollback stuff can choke if you’re playing on a slower PC with someone far away.
i’m playing on under the user name Oneder just trying to get execution practice right now
You’re gonna find a lot more people on GGPO, plus you don’t have to launch the client via Firefox 2 or IE (seriously, how hard is an executable). Lag is something you’re gonna probably run into either way.
Also, status update on video capture (Sorry, I’ve been busy gathering supplies and wiring up Jordan’s stick lol, I need quick disconnects ;_;). Video is go, I forgot my S-Video cable though, so I could only test through composite vid, it looks a bit washed, and blurry, which is something I hope to remedy before the tournament on Saturday. I couldn’t do anything audio related because lol I don’t know where the hell the audio cables go to or from on the cabinet.
I have one request from you guys tonight, means I won’t be there, find and split the audio connection so that I can capture it. If you guys can do that, it’ll be fantastic and I’ll be set to go on Saturday.
Also, means I’m capturing and editing and uploading the footage all on my own time, I don’t want to ask for donations, but if someone could buy me something to eat on Saturday (I’d also like some .110 quick disconnects), that’d be great. Means I’m piss poor because of that capture card now lol.

TOURNAMENTS TOMORROW GUYZ.
I’ll be by Siren later today, if anyone’s there before me just give me a ring or PM me.
Who does this remind you of?
