Hope everyone had a cool Halloween. I know I did! (I vomited in the morning, I think of my best 3s strats while staring into a toilet) Fun times at the party although I didn’t go by Siren to play in costumes… maybe next year when I dress as ALEX! Tournament is this month guyz, (NEXT WEAK-END!) hope you’re practicing. I’ll probably be playing this Friday and Saturday if anyones interested. Hope you guys got health insurance. Also probably stopping by after work next Tuesday too.
Also to people who are actively working on the cab maybe we should write down a “TO DO” list here so we know what to approach next with the cab. As for the video recording Fire Chocobo yer gonna have to give me the low down on it so we can hopefully get it up and ready to roll by Garbage Day. Just lemme know.

Sadly nothing got accomplished on Friday. If I had gotten the cabinet manual a week or two earlier, I could have come into Siren knowing what needed to be done.
Things that need to be done:
- Wire pcb to jamma extension harness (soldering required).
- Determine the device for video capture. DOES ANYONE HAVE THE CAPABILITY OF RECORDING COMPOSITE OR S-VIDEO SIGNALS?
- Perform a test run.
- Fine tune and trubleshoot.
More explicitly, we need to:

I have reservations about wiring to the cabinet. I?m willing to, but you guys should ask HahaPete first, as he is the expert. -
See if Ed (or anyone else) has the requisite video capture capabilities. The output will be in the form of composite cables or s-video. I do have a recording device but it has not been very reliable in the past, so that?s our last resort.

See how the recording goes during a casuals session spanning several hours. Examine the video for quality and any unexpected issues.

Order/buy parts, should we need them. Decide if we can or want to add crowd noise or commentary to the video. Overlaying crowd noise or commentary on top of the game sound is a simple feat. But, we?d have to record that audio somehow in order to do so.

:3 I’ll have video covered, I have to buy a new capture card (Mine is Express Card, and my new laptop doesn’t have that crap anymore lol) but that’s something I was planning on buying anyway, so it’s not a big deal. I’m just relieved that someone else got the JAMMA part covered.
My big concern is going to be video size, means I’m lugging around a 500gb hdd in my laptop. I’ve got a 500gb external too, but I’m a bit concerned with write speeds to that with capture. It’s something We’ll figure out.
As far as wiring, I can do it too (I had fun desoldering a Tekken 5 stick today lol) but I’d rather leave it to someone with more experience. It doesn’t seem hard, but it’s a bit of a pricey job lol.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go research capture cards lol (if I capture and edit the video do I have to pay for the tournament lolololololololololol)
<edit>Picked out my new capture card This should cover all of our bases, space shouldn’t be an issue with the rate it will give us. It’s still a bit pricey though.
<edit2> Crowd Audio is as simple as running a y splitter from the audio, the bigger question we have to ask ourselves is does anyone have a mic that’s high enough quality that we can use, where are we going to mount said microphone and is there really going to be enough background noise (from us) to warrant using it?

Alright, possibly bad news. :[ It seems I’ve been hit with some credit card theft, I’m gonna call my bank tonight and try and sort it out, hopefully everything is fixed and I can still get my capture card. If not, what kind of capture solution do you have fire chocobo?
<edit> Alright, it looks like it was a bunch of small transactions that caused me $105 in overdraft fees. It doesn’t look like I’ll be getting those overdrafts back either. I’m going to try and scrounge up the money to get the capture card, but I still want to know what kind of capture solution fire chocobo’s got.

I have a Pinnacle Video Transfer. It’s a device that has s-video & composite inputs and a usb 2.0 output. The capture quality is 720x480 on the “best” setting. It works great when I create combo vids and what not. The reason it’s our last resort is that it stops recording randomly during 2 player sessions. Whenever the recording stops, it’s between matches. It has never stopped in the middle of a match. Once the jamma recording pcb is installed, I wanna test how my PVT performs on the arcade cabinet.
Fuck protoss.
Okay, my brother pulled through big time for me and gave me the money he owed me early, I ordered the capture card, should be here in 3 days 
I’m still real short on funds though ;_;

Friday hopefully. Last I heard, that’s when Pete’s coming. I’ll be there too, to hand over the pcb and stand there uselessly.

I think it’s like this: You start at 1 dan, and try to work up to 10 dan. You play people within 1 dan level. You gain 1 point for winning, lose 1 for losing. Get to +3 points, you go up a dan and reset to 0. Get to -3, and you lose a dan and reset to 0.

Yea, that’s pretty much it. According to the game spot versus website, u can challenge anyone +/- 1 rank of ur own and take a +1 win or -1 loss for it. At 10th dan, you only fight other 10th dan individuals and if you get to +5, you earn a special title.
