Does What a Spider Can! UMvC3 Spidey Combo Thread

Well, I’mma work with him for a while over the next couple weeks and see what I can do with him in the little time I get. :@ I’m getting so pissed off because I can’t find a middle person for my team that plays like I need them to. Dormammu doesn’t feel right, Frank’s assist can’t extend combos worth sh*t, Firebrand doesn’t bring along ANY space controlling assists, Sentinel can’t extend combos well outside of the double web throw crap, I DON’T want to bother with Doctor Strange, Taskmaster doesn’t feel right and the DHC after Crawler Assault isn’t worth it, and I don’t really have much time to work with Magneto, Dante, or Iron Man until winter break starts. I could learn Hawkeye I guess, but he didn’t feel right when I played with him for a little while.

I want my G.D. training mode time. T_____T

Im loving iron mans repulsor blast but I hate his overall playstyle. I don’t mind zoning and keep away but I need him to get up in there. His speed is killing me. I am trying to stray from doom because I want something new but the damage I could get off missiles after crawler assault may change my mind

Hmm, the guide says he works best at mid range, due to the fact that the range of his air normals rival those of Sentinel’s. His air dash also plays just like Nova, and I’ve felt that Nova is pretty damn strong at that range as well (although Nova is scary as hell when he has you in the corner, but he gets raped by some zoning characters).

My issue is that I can’t figure out what his hit confirms are in that range. Every time I landed a j.:m: today, I couldn’t land any follow-ups when I landed.

Repulsor blast has easily become one of my top 3 favorite assists though. It’s SOOOO underrated in this game!

Use j:h: to hit confirm into a dash or fly combo

Oh duh lol. I wonder if you could get a nice air string on someone grounded and dash cancel one hit for a cross-up reset… I’m hoping that Iron Man still has crazy mix-ups and resets like he did in Vanilla despite the drastic changes on his air dash.

He has some but he’s so damn strong now he doesn’t really need to now

if you’re playing spider/nova try spencer somewhere. he’s similar to spiderman in terms of matchups but he has good chemistry w/ nova, he is a viable anchor, has a passable assist in the neutral game in slant grapple, and a decent combo assist in armor piercer.

Personally in this game I think grapple assist is stronger for Spidey than armor piercer

xero, in that Quick Spidey Combos video you posted, how do you time the H S after L Web Swing so that you have enough time to follow up with a j. L M M H S? That really gave me some ideas of how to extend Spider-Man’s combos, but I’m really having a hard time getting it down. Right now, I’ve found that you can pretty much do the same thing with M and H, and follow up with L M M H S. What I want to do after L M M H S is when I land, I most likely just follow up with standing H, or even do L M H all over again, then Web Swing, M M H, land, H into H Spider-Sting to Spider Bite, then cr. H, then go from there.

BTW, Sorry I’m not using the smiley’s for the attack buttons and directions. Can somebody show me the list for the commands for that?

It’s cool. First take out some of those :l:, you’re prorating your combo thus dealing less damage. As for the combo itself you can do jumping :h: slightly later then do :s: at the last possible moment then go into your next string. The combos I posted in that video scale hit stun hard so towards the end of the combo you have to input stuff with precision. Most combos I put up are to show some possibilities, I’m not one to say one combo is better than another combo unless it does ridiculous amounts of more damage.

As for the inputs, I’ve been here a while so I remember a good part of them but if you hit the more options tab it should show you a smiley face button. Click that and it’ll show all the different inputs just highlight one and a little pop up will show with the code to put them in. For this game put any of these in a set of colon and it’ll change into that symbol

l - light attack
m - medium attack
h - heavy attack
s - special attack
atk - attack
d - down
df - down forward
db - down back
u - up
uf - up forward
ub - up back
b - back
f - forward

I plan to eventually learn him, but I need a strong space controlling assist for my team, so I don’t think I’d make a Spidey/Spencer/Nova team anytime soon lol.

Agreed. Grapple allows you to convert an OTG into a midscreen Crawler Assault, which is much better use for your wall bounce. ;O

Well he can, just barely from what I’ve tried. I was messing around with web throw and your jump loop a bit, and put out a couple of combos both hit for over 700k just barely.

The second combo is a bit finicky when it comes to the web swing :h: after the s.:m:, s.:h: after otg, it seems that if your too far away you won’t get the hit, but the same thing applies for when you’re too close as well. It is a corner to corner carry though.

But by God I love web throw in this game, I mean I liked before but you can don anything off of a web throw, it’s amazing.

Oh I found ways to do it but like you said it’s all barely unless starting with uwt

Imagine :lol: but yeah you can sub the s:m: for c:m:. You can do a web swing rep before you decide to web throw then otg and do a jump rep but it’s a lot harder due to the last bit of scaling finishing the decay
