Does What a Spider Can! UMvC3 Spidey Combo Thread

This thread is for combo transcripts and ideas. Though videos are nice, and easier to see put those in the Zephil’s video thread. We are trying to clean up the clutter that is the Spidey page in general, separating MvC3 and UMvC3 content by doing so. I will be updating this thread regularly and depending on how much info is presented will determine how regularly that will be. Lastly, please try to use the button emoticons ( :atk: :l: :m: :h: :s: :u: :d: :f: :b: :df: :uf: :db: :ub:) when posting combos to ease confusion between s and S or c and C. Happy Swinging!!!

Also please state the type of combo it will be before posting the transcript. For example:

One meter combo, two assist, damage, opponent it was done on, and where it can be performed.

Note: Currently editing, from memory, but I am adding mostly solo combos and basic universal assist combos into web throw/super. Updating in chunks so give me time. If there is an error in hit stun or a combo can go longer with plenty of leniency in hit stun while still allowing super, for example if I only put a s:h: xx after what I think is a long combo for hit stun but you can still get a s:m: s:h: xx let me know. A lot of these can be longer when adding air combos and what not but then Spidey can’t go into super alone because of HSD so be expecting a lot of common finishers to eliminate guess work.

One meter combo uses Doctor Doom’s Hidden Missiles 769k with DHC into Ghost Rider doing 864k(for his Hellfire Maelstrom) and 910k with Spirit of Vengeance. Can change out the CA at the end for a Web Throw>Maximum Spider for 756k with DHC into Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance for 900k

Noticed that spidey’s new ability to cancel everything into webzip has made him fast and tricky as hell, so I need a place to document his combos. Figured this would be a good a place as any.

From air throw with 1 meter, ~415k damage:

If higher than 3/4 jump height - air dash forward, immediate cancel to webzip down forward, j.:h:, land :m:, :h:, spider sting :h:, spider bite, land, :s:, jump, :h:, xx :h: web swing xx maximum spider

if lower than 3/4 jump height - skip the air dash, do above.

From any connected web throw (including combo’d into if the combo before the web throw was < 3~4 hits):
no meter, ~550k damage

With an assist like Doom beam, Virgil judgement, or anything that hits multiple times you can call the assist after you land for the final time but before you dash back and then otg with the webzip then combo into web throw and link a maximum spider.

Also, you can cut short most of the relaunch combos and do spider sting, bite, then :h: into crawler assault, then air dash and web zip otg into whatever to maximum spider for much more damage. The webzip changes seem to make spidey waaaaay more useful.

For the air throw, 1 meter combo you stated:

I used to do your version (the :m::h: after landing from the zip), but sometimes it makes the spider sting whiff (horizontally) or unable to follow up with a bite (maybe that’s my execution?) depending on where you zipped from and the character. So it’s better to do cr.:h: after landing.

From what I can tell, the bite will wiff if you throw from too high up, and don’t air dash toward them. Most of spidey’s otg setups seem to require that you dash/air dash/back dash before you do them to position the web zip correctly. Also I tried the combo you listed, much easier than the one I’m using currently.

Back dashing to get the otg is especially important in the corner, as jumping and web zipping low enough is too difficult without it.

Hey can anybody post some standard BnB’s for the most damage? I still haven’t decided on my team yet, except for spidey on point of course, but I’d like to start practicing some combos.

Well for one meter what I use midscreen with no assist is

I’m not near my console right now so I can’t post the numbers for it but depending on your assist you can just finish the air combo swing OTG web throw either to or out the corner depending on the assist and then MS if you are throwing out the corner or CA into DHC if you are just going to throw them into the corner.

Here’s my BnB that I’ve been using because I haven’t been able to hit the lab for more than like an hour total since the release of Ultimate. You can only end it with CA if you can push them to the corner, but it’s the best HAPPY BIRTHDAY combo I’ve come up with thus far and it’s hella good for it:
Does about 660~670k, and I haven’t tested how much meter it produces/loses. Uses 1 meter.

MS doesnt connect off the canceled Spider Sting?

It probably does but I guess he was referring to it as a happy birthday combo so that you get both people. I’m alot more accustomed to using MS so I hope that’s the case.

That’s really cool that you can do a MS or a CA though, considering the combo probably builds one meter and that CA and MS will cover just about anything you would need to DHC into, you can get over 800K.

i found this setup into ultimate web throw using dr strange’s eye of agamotto assist. im not sure how good this is but i was not able to tech out of it in the corner. i couldnt find a way to make it work midscreen though.

Here’s something for yall to play around with. After a corner Spider Sting/Bite Spidey can zip cancel and crossup with j:h: or j:s:. He’s still guaranteed one more action after last hit. Assuming your opponent is trying to tech out the corner forwards you could use this as a very hard to escape UWT setup. Since they are so close to Spidey they can’t back tech it and, I’ll test this in a second, if you use a move that will push them back some more before activating they may be out of range to attack up close. Again those who could escape before are still able to but it wouldn’t be so easily telegraphed this time around since you can alter timing on the zip cancel and just as easily double cross to an air throw setup if you suspect them of catching on.

Also noticed UWT’s frames stay out a lot longer now. Spidey v Spidey is what I’m testing this setup on and I’ve found a couple debunks already but when I tried to MS out of the set up Spidey one already activated UWT and webs were out. Spidey two was still going for the wall, fullscreen, then activated and propelled forward. Spidey one won.

More notes on the subject. Does not work on big/tall characters. Timing may have to be adjusted, haven’t tested that yet but my recorded dummy could not crossup on Iron Man and Sentinel (he was to be expected not to crossup anyhow). Also to debunk what I just said about Spidey v Spidey, Spidey two must hold back and flip backwards then use MS invincibility going to the wall to counter UWT.

I’m guessing web zip can’t hit two characters? Just trying to think out assist kill combo stuff at work…

Don’t use it for that. I think it still hits but there are easier combos for all that.

What are your reasons for the jump loop over a web swing H? I can think of a few but I’d like to hear your opinion on this.
