Does Tekken Tag Tournament still pass the test of time?

you all are tekken scrubs.

Tekken 3 has it share or broken characters, however most everyone in the game is balanced and has a chance at victory. Broken characters in Tekken 3 are only broken in the hand of an expert who would have owned you anyways. The damage in Tekken 3 is so ridiculous that doing stupid shit will get you killed. That right there eliminated 90% of all the scrubs.

Tekken Tag is a lot like Alpha 3 in that it is a loose version of an older game. Broken characters in this game are broken from the start. If you learn the right things with the right characters. Game over. But still a very fun game to play.

Tekken 5… sigh*

It’s shit. I didn’t play the revised version but the very broken characters are stupid. I haven’t played anything else. It’s just another case of new characters introduced being broken beyong belief because they are new. My two cents.

Didn’t someone say Dark Resurection is balanced? I’ll wait till it hits the consoles and playing a fighter on a handheld is scrubtastic.

Balance is what some/most people don’t like about the game, though they won’t directly say so. There’s finally a Tekken where you can see a constant variation of characters as opposed to a 1,000,001 Mishimas and opinions are yet still divided.

?(°_o)/?

We all lose!

An’ yeah, Pair Play TTT can be quite stellar.

You just don’t like Tag cause Nina sucks in it >_<

Sure the percentage of usable chars is lower in Tag, but there are still a good number.

Mishimas (4)
Ogres (2)
Kickboxers (2)
Changs (2)
Lei
Yoshi
Armor King

I’ll put my Ling and Panda up against any chang,Ogre or mishima player in TTT. I’ve played Koreans in TTT. I’ve played JOP in TTT. I’ve played Kane in TTT. If you put the time and effort in any char in TTT. They can compete.

That is true with any fighter. Law of averages + Dumb luck = win eventually. I’ve also played Koreans and Japanese. Is not like they have super powers or anything. I didn’t do it in a tourney and that’s why it doesn’t matter.

I’d never thought that I would have seen this sentence ever. EVER!!1

memories

I think the PS2 TTT fuckin’ sucks.

Arcade TTT is where it’s at. I wish Namco would do a classics collection and INCLUDE THAT SHIT.

But I still think TTT is a great game, and still play it to this day… (arcade one)…

I think Nina sucks in T4 as well. She’s just TTT Nina with 1+4, easier Hayashida and a worse throw game.

TTT’s problem was that, while you had a lot of skillfil Mishima players making the rounds…that’s most of what people were used to seeing. It was all about who had the best Mishima’s and then the best Ogres/Changs. No-one really gives a shit about the kickboxers (:)). Not discounting the ‘fun factor’, but when skill gets a bring in in TTT I’m always told about a Mishima and how skillful they are using SS EWGF or 112 and not much else.

TTT is definetly the game of choice by most Mishima Tekken players for obvious reasons, or for people who just get disgusted when they get out ‘hopkick’ed’ or crushed too much.

For me, playing T5 gives me headaches because of the countless situations that can occur. But in the end, it boils down to personal preference.

If DR had more life, I would love it as much as TTT, because it’s better balanced. And would keep up rounds as long as TTT does.

Ninja Edit: Didn’t see MarkMan’s post, but I definetly agree that Arcade TTT > PS2 TTT for the mere fact that combos and everything feels more smooth. Hitboxes were changed for PS2 TTT and alot of the combos because unuseable.

This post was fucking needed in this thread.

Any of you ever tried to have a ttt session on ps2, sure it’s fun as first, but then it becomes dumb.

Arcade tag with good sticks would be like super turbo to sf.

Arcade tag>>>>ps2

If they had ttt arcade cabinets with ports, I think there would mishima players that could step up.

match vid for memories. Watching the ttt finals at evo 2k5 put me to sleep, whereas watching a match like this is fun to me. I think 60 is the time limit, but US tournaments always put it as 80 :zzzzzzzz

Not for me, from what I can see, they balanced the game. Apparetly among the tekken fans, I’m a minority. They just need to make a game with just one broken ass character and everyone else be crap to make you guys happy.

Does anyone have a link to a page listing all the arcade to console changes.

I’m pretty sure Arcade has 30 dmg EWGF (like T3) compared to 25 dmg EWGF like on console, but I’m not certain

TTT’s still fun for me. This is the way I see it:

TTT = "classic tekken"
T5 = modern, slightly different

T5 > TTT, but both are fun

T3 Paul owns you all, 2/3 damage for counter phoenix smasher.

The first hit of falling leaf (d+4,2) always knocked down regardless of spacing too.

In DR it does too but you have to do d+4~2… you won’t get the 1+2 followup to come out ever though.

I don’t think you understand what I was saying.

Basically I was disagreeing with the fact that you think DR is easy to learn.

I hate PS2 T5.

whats so hard about playing DR? the mids in the game are overall weak and or risky that it actually pays off for scrubs to just randomly defend themselves whats the risk in ducking? you avoid highs, throws, block lows, and if you guess wrong youre hit with a weak mid. almost every serious mid is punishable or easily walked. it pays to play in a scrubby style of defense. to me its actually more difficult to play 5.0 because it does not pay off to duck a lot , but the cheese is so retarded that it doesnt matter anyway. i hate the whole tekken 5 series, i dont understand whats so difficult about fixing the game. i could tell them easily , just take out fucking infinites, retarded wall combos and the ability to step around everything. they went way to the extreme and never found a good middle ground. high level dr is basically turtling and dumb simple pokes because no one wants to risk losing to random ducks, sidewalks. from what i ve been told its become even more stupid since i stopped playing with techniques to walk circles around characters.

and what is wrong with psx2 ttt? seems fine to me unless youre a law player because his hit box for dragon tail sucks. from what mishima players tell me theyre not as good on psx2, thats a bad thing?

:wasted:
