Does Tekken Tag Tournament still pass the test of time?

Yes i know about TZ.com but i was wondering how the traditional 2d crowd thinks of TTT as a both a competitive fighter and a fun one. I know T5 DR is the current thing(havent been keeping up on games myself in a year forgive me), but I remember in my loca area at least it stayed strong for a while, even when T4 came out peeps still played TTT.
also, i have a soft spot as it was the only 3d fighter i ever played competitively from its inception.
So, after 7 yrs, is it still good?

“ocassionally, but T5 has kinda replaced it for the most part”

True

the best team in the game in jack2/law, since you can give them both wife beater outfits :encore:

I used to really like Tekken Tag, but I tried playing it last night and it was awful, just awful. It plays so slowly. It’s actually like being punched in the face.

Its still a cool game…just Tekken 5 does everything tag does…without the tag of course

It’s a very different game from 5, and I love them both, although my preference goes to DR over Tag.

Still, I had to vote option 4. Too fuckin’ classy.

tag isnt really that slow. you just suck at it

Only because its the newest game out. TTT is superior to every game after it. DR may have more playable characters and better “balance”, its easy mode compared to the stuff you had to learn for Tag.

Oh well, long live Tag…the game that practically failed me out of college

the game that caused me to get a C in Organic Chemistry… Ah, one of the few times that my university had new arc cabinets wi/lots of comp… Those were the days lol

It’s got a lot of longevity with me. Tekken Bowl is fun to play, too. I do play Tekken 5 more often and I would play DR if I was lucky enough for my local arcade to get the upgrade.

game was way WAY better than any tk5. there were tiers but people made way too big of a deal out of it, especially in the USA. theyd say shit like mishimas were too good, which is true but no american mishimas ever got to the level were the characters were gods. its not like steve/nina/bryan in tk5 were you could pick up their shit in a matter of weeks. it took an insane amount of time/effort to be god like with mishimas. you could play almost anyone you felt like if you had enough skill.

I think comparing TTT should be compared to T5:DR, not the original T5 or 5.1 since DR is the latest and the best IMO. You can’t pick up DJ or Hei, who are on top of the tier list in DR, in a matter of weeks, so the point you bring up is moot.

TTT is a fun game but the graphics are obviously outdated, turtling ogres are bitches, and EWGF is too strong. ANd you don’t need to be that good to EWGF.

To TTT’s credit, it still has overall solid gameplay which matters the most out of anything. So the game is still fun to play and I pick it up every now and then, especially since DR isn’t on ps2.

Bowling is fun, but I don’t count that as the game.

Actually TTT on ps2 still looks pretty decent, I can’t wait to play it again once I get a copy of that Xploder HDTV loader so I can play without lag

I liked it a lot, but I think it’s because I had a lot of comp for TTT at the time among my friends, was really the first tekken I played more than passingly as well. I’ll say it doesn’t pass the test, only because for me, I don’t notice anyone playing anymore. (Not that I was ever too good at TTT, heh.)

TTT’s alright - much prefer DR over it though.

what other game can i do the Legion Of Doom’s Devastation Device? of course i still play

TTT is the last Tekken game I spend a lot time one since T2, mostly cos Jun was back in it. I’ve been looking for a ps2 copy but haven’t had any luck. what’s this stuff about lag though?

Basically.

TTT is better then T5 period, it still isnt better then T3 though.
