Isn’t the reason the healthy stuff more expensive simply because people don’t buy it as much? So if everyone kept buying healthy foods, the price will go down right?
Did you see the girls in that video? None of them were fat.
There isn’t a problem with consuming, the problem lies in manufacturing and processing. Simply put, it takes much more time and energy to make “healthy foods” than junk, and as a consequence the cost goes up.
Go to Whole Food to spend 32 bucks on loaf of bread and 87 bucks on freshly caught Alaskan salmon that died 5 minutes ago of natural causes or go to Roscoe’s Chili and Donuts for 3 fitty.
er…not quite. historically, while the price of meat, grains and dairy products has dropped. the price of fruits and veggies has gone up. the us government subsidizes farmers (most of which belongs to Big Ag) and meat and dairy producers (ideally, 1/4 of our diet) gets the biggest slice. fruits and veggies (ideally, 1/3 of our diet) get none or only a tiny fraction of what’s left over. which is why a salad costs more to produce than a big mac.
I don’t know about this. I’d think that chicken is a pretty popular meat (hence people buy it constantly), but I’ve never seen the price go down. Also, the general economic rule is that if demand is too high, then price goes up.
But if you go to different countries you can buy really good meals for really cheap. Like a soup, noodles+beef and veggies for like 2bucks.
I think the high cost of rent, wages and production offsets the price of goods in most western countries.
If you buy smart you save way more money buying healthy things than cheap things. Buy oatmeal in bulk, not in separate packs. Buy eggs in bulk. Buy veggies during their season. People are too lazy to cook so they just buy shitty cereal and burritos instead of spending some time learning how to make things tasty without adding crap to their food.
for me, it takes a conscious effort to stay in shape - eating right, exercising, etc.
once you get really fat, it takes a lot of time and effort to get back into shape.
i think people just don’t have the discipline or don’t care to put in the work, so they just get fatter.
what do you think someone spends a week (break it down to a per day figure) on breakfast if they eat fast food. 3$ a day, 2$ a day? (it doesnt matter cause ill work with both) and im talking about someone whos fat/obese and needs shit to fill their stomach. even though i personally think its at least 3 ill let you pick day figure just to prove a point.
That shit’s expensive (and worse for you than you think) cuz you’re playing yourself: you buy the regular oatmeal (in a big-ass canister, not individual packs), not that flavored shit for little kids. The regular shit you can eat out of a family sized canister for a month, while that kiddie shit costs 2 times as much, and only feeds you for a few days. And it’s full of crap besides the actual healthy ingredients: oats.
That said, the causes behind obesity are nutritional ignorance, and lazyness/lack of discipline. Since I started bodybuilding, I’ve learned many things about nutrition, and serving sizes. Eat food that people did the least to. If the ingredient list is more than 2-4 items long, that shit’s probably not too nutritious. Get some exercise. All that cash you blow buying the same damn stick you already own 3 of (each with different art based on the game it was released for) can go to some 150 lbs of 10-25lb weights, a couple $10 dumbbell bars, and a $20 barbell bar (standard or EZ Curl) from Wal-Mart.
I think you’re misinterpreting people who say eating fast food is cheaper than healthy food. Obviously, if you eat fast food every meal, you can eat healthier for cheaper.
What I meant was compared to other options to eat out. You either have to commit to the time it takes to prepare the healthier food at home, or pay a higher price at a restaurant.
And who the fuck eats fast food breakfast everyday? Gross.
I know! That’s what makes it so baffling to me. Fat ass women automatically adopted this song as their anthem and used it as an excuse to not lose weight and go out and buy clothes they have no business buying. The thin line between “thick” and just “horribly fat” was effectively blurred forever.
Also, American media disgusts me with their constant bombardment of what “real men” should eat which is just plain fast food garbage (Hardee’s and Burger King come to mind.) Really?? I’m somehow less of a man if I don’t scarf down a half pound burger and fries everyday? No wonder a lot of today’s kids are a bunch of wheezing diabetic porkers.
problem is most healthy food is not healthy at all. grains? bread? oatmeal? fruit? rice?! stop looking at the dumb stickers and green circles on the box and look at the nutrition labels. actual healthy food comes at a big premium.
