DOA5 Ultimate/Last Round Thread

Had our first 4plyr session tonight. We always thought adding DOA to our game nights would be cool but MAN was the tag action super fun, more so than our Tekken Tag 2 4plyr nights. All I need to do now is get a decent playlist made to jam this game to.

#couchplaystillrules

Wow, so you are telling me that if someone desconnects the player that was winning gets the match on ranked?
I was fighting this dude that keep lagging when i was doing something or when i was on wakeup and once he won the 1st round he disconnected and got the match

Couch is the best place to play fighting games next to the arcade.

Edit: For anyone interested, here’s a thread from FSD discussing all the new mechanics ported from VF5FS.

The best is the arcades that offer a couch in front of the arcade machine.

So it’s a seperate stun type altogether? What about when they get put in a full critical state (critical burst?)?

Full critical state is needed for power blows and power launchers. Some moves that don’t normally will launch (and I think bound as well) in full critical state.

I think it’s whoever actually disconnects from the match, loses. Something similar happened to me when I was about to start fighting some guy. Both of our healthbars were full, and no rounds had been won, and it said he disconnected and gave me the win. This was in Ranked.

But i didn’t disconnect, in fact the message was that he disconnected 1st yet he got the win anyway.

Is there a quick way to look up the properties of the moves, what type of stun they give on hit, counterhit and if the move is a guardbreak move. I’m guessing it has to be done the old fashioned way or someone has made a list.

There’s a move detail viewer you can turn on, but you can’t turn on counterhit settings like Tekken or SoulCalibur from what I noticed.

Managed to get a fight uploaded to Facebook. Much, much rather have it go to my YouTube account - not easy to share Facebook vids online. Can’t just tell everybody to go to my Wall or anything.

Me and the guys are starting to get the hang of things and matches are looking better. Mila is my main for now, but only until I get confident with her. Then I bring Ayane back to her DOA2 glory, she’ll always be the one for me.

Still can’t get a good feel for the game yet. Also, am I alone in having a hard time finding a rank match? I’ve found a grand total of one ranked match, no one ever joins my lobbies, and the only ones usually open are either tag lobbies are ones with 6-7 people in it. Rather not have to wait 15+ minutes to get bodied.

I’m not familiar with Tekken/SC training mode too much, what do you mean by you can’t turn on counterhit settings?

There’s an option in the Training Settings to set whether hit will be Always Normal Hit, Always Counter Hit, or Always Hi-counter hit. It should be noted that it will even give this setting in areas where an attack is guaranteed from a guard break or frame advantage throw, which would always be normal hit.

Yeah, I can wait for 30 minutes sometimes and still not get one Ranked match. Don’t know what’s up with that.

I feel your pain. I tend to just search for lobbies with 3 people or less and just wait till I can play. It’s annoying because unless you have a friend or something it seems like you can’t just play with 1 person over and over again through some sort of “player quick match” function like most other fighters have.

For those interested, the swimsuits from the Jpn CE are now available on XBL.

Does Jackie have some kind of weird auto hold?

That’s his neutral counter to High Punches. Meaning don’t press anything on the stick or buttons. The almighty Pak Sao. The animation for it is better in VF5:FS, but it’s still in, and it’s Pak Sao, which means you can’t go wrong. On another note, they brought back his neutral throw from the VF4 series. It’s his High Hold. When I saw it a tear came out.

So I can hold high punches without input? That’s amazing. Now I have to try him out more.

I can’t imagine the level of satisfaction going straight from neutral stance and all of a sudden they’re in a hold. Probably feels pretty surprising to them every time lol.

Well the risk you are taking is that, aren’t doing anything so anything not a High Attack with fist is going to hit. It’s good for predictable opponents, but unless you gotta beat on your opponents habits, it’s still better to keep moving with BDC and Wave Dash.

Yeah, it really seems like more of a “show off” tactic.
