Man I read both of your posts in a hyped up product pitchman voice and both were probably the most confusingly hilarious, things I have read all day. Kinda like what I picture for Johnston Checks In posts on something awful. God I needed that. The avatar helped as well. I also read it as a run on. Thankyou for making my hour sir.
Probably because he’s new to murder(he really didn’t even know how to shoot until the winter montage) in the film and he isn’t concerned about killing as much as he is about saving his wife, unlike Schultz who knows who to kill at all times(due to having the bounty papers), the sheriff scene for example.
Also, SPOILERS, people don’t want to know who dies before they see the movie.
I’m not sure what’s going on in this thread so I will say two things.
1 - This movie was really good, much better than Inglorious Basterds.
2 - This movie is set two years before the civil war. It is about white slavers and black slaves, so it’s a pretty good bet that the word nigger will be used quite often if for the simple goal of being as accurate to the period as possible. I neither found it offensive or funny. It is what it is.
The KKK scene was easily one of the funniest scenes I seen all year. Unnecessary? Sure. Still hella fucking entertaining which is the reason why we actually go to watch movies
THEY SAID “NIGGER” IN A QUENTIN TARANTINO MOVIE?!
I’m fucking yawns shocked or something.
Jimmie: I don’t need you to tell me how fucking good my coffee is, okay? I’m the one who buys it. I know how good it is. When Bonnie goes shopping she buys SHIT. I buy the gourmet expensive stuff because when I drink it I want to taste it. But you know what’s on my mind right now? It AIN’T the coffee in my kitchen, it’s the dead nigger in my garage.
Jules: Oh, Jimmie, don’t even worry about that…
Jimmie: No, No, No, No, let me ask you a question. When you came pulling in here, did you notice a sign out in front of my house that said “Dead Nigger Storage”?
Jules: Jimmie, you know I ain’t seen no…
Jimmie: Did you notice a sign out in front of my house that said “Dead Nigger Storage”?
Jules: No. I didn’t.
Jimmie: You know WHY you didn’t see that sign?
Jules: Why?
Jimmie: 'Cause it ain’t there, 'cause storing dead niggers ain’t my fucking business, that’s why!
I would have preferred it not being there, and thus it making it a more cohesive experience (I feel like this is always an issue with QT’s films), and then I would have been more entertained.
Well excuse me princess. What else would you like removed from the movie to fit your own little personal preferences on what makes a cohesive experience?
well since you asked, the other scenes that felt unnecessary and self indulgent, and all of the music that wasn’t specifically composed for the movie.
do you always get your panties in a bunch when someone has a differing opinion from you? because thats how forums kind of work.
Given that it was a period piece I imagine there was no tarantino geek out dialouge moments like deathproof which comes to mind where you just sit there and know there is no way in hell that character would ever say/do/or know that information. He’s gotten on such a kick where in old movies it was subtle but in the newer movies it’s such a distraction that you can’t stay in your suspension of disbelief and you catch yourself saying no fucking way. So in that regards is the music not western feel or is there a scene where they’re riding and it plays aerosmith back in the saddle, or a part where Django is feeling down and they are playing crawling in my skin something of that effect?
Actually the music was pretty damn good. One of the best aspects of the movie.
Which scene in Death Proof? That movie was fairly retarded in all areas imo.
Every one in the theatre was dying when that scene happened, at first every one was like “Oh shit” then:
Spoiler
Jonah Hill happend and it got even funnier from there
At the bar before shit hit the fan, there was a sequence of banter back and fourth and I think it came out of the hot black chicks mouth she was the radio dj if I remember she made a comment before they got back into the car about something and it took me completely out of the movie it was just such a nerdy unbelievable thing and it wouldn’t have come out of her**. **It had to do with anime or an old kurosawa film or an old kung fu film like come drink with me or swallow tail inn, something like that. It was just ridiculous.
I didn’t expect to hear “I got a name” in this movie, it fit but it didn’t fit at the same time.

So I thought the film was pretty good. I think it was a nod in the exploitation genre as well as a good revenge flick. The usage of nigga didn’t bother me, especially since they were saying and doing worse things than that during that time. The acting was great and I really enjoyed the concept.
Also Spike Lee can eat a dick because he refuses to see the movie and hates it and he is also remaking one of my favorite movies “Oldboy”.
But the movie was one of my favorites this year.
I saw the movie Christmas Day with my friends’ family so I saw it for free having my ticket paid for. My take on Tarantino using the N word at this point is whatever. He’s like Scorsese in a way, people will go see their movies regardless until they stop making them. Tarantino seems to be much different than Scorsese with his usage. Scorsese seems to use it with contempt while killing black people and not giving them any significance in his films. Tarantino on the other hand uses the word like it’s comical with black people have leading roles in whatever films they’re in. Racism isn’t comical, I see Tarantino as a bit naive about his usage while Scorsese seems to find ways to be a snarky little four eyed bastard about it, ie. Taxi Driver, iirc Casino, The Departed (in the opening scene) when there’s no black people in sight.
In the past Tarantino has used the word contemptuously like in True Romance but he’s not as bad as Scorsese. He also has black people punking, beating the shit out of and killing white people, ie. Jules, Django. You would never see a black person touch the hair on an Italian’s head in any of Scorsese’s movies, that’d be an “impossibility” for him. When was the last time Scorsese allowed a black person to not be a bitch or get killed? From my recollection, never. He always has to blow a black mans’ head off, seems like always between the eyes or just fucking them up like they’re nothing. Tarantino at least let’s them retaliate and live until the end of the movie and be the hero, again ie. Jules, Django. I do agree with Spike Lee about slavery not being a spaghetti western. Although Kill Bill was far fetched too, a white woman learning her skills from an Asian martial arts master and then massacring a bunch of highly skilled Asians.
Even though Ordell got killed at the end of Jackie Brown, Pam Grier survived from start to finish. Samuel L Jackson is pretty much like his role in this movie, a Hollywood Uncle Tom/house negro. His staunch support for Tarantino’s usage is a bit unnerving. I understand all about films being period pieces and Django wouldn’t have worked without a bunch of white people using the word. I know there’s people who say that stance is too passive aggressive but Hollywood is going to do what they do until enough people stop supporting certain things they do. Even if you don’t see movies like this in the theater supporting them, it’ll be on TV at some point. They’ll still be getting paid from advertisers as long as you leave the channel on. Even if you’re not in the room when it’s on, fall asleep with the channel on, advertising (commercials) are still lining these filmmakers and studios pockets.
One of the underlining problems is the people who say “it’s only a movie.” I work in the film industry. Saying it’s only a movie is a cop out, same with comedy. There’s some true feelings hidden within the “comedy” and they get passes because it’s comedy. Giving excuses for controversial behavior just shouldn’t be and should be addressed. If people want change for things they find unacceptable they shouldn’t trivialize everything and people should be called out. It just comes with the territory.
I still don’t get how he made slavery into a spaghetti western?
There weren’t a bunch of black slave cowboys riding horses into the sunset and sticking up saloons.
There was no sugar coating on the slavery or horribleness of the whites of that time whatsoever, a man was literally sentenced to death by dogs and there was a whole thing about slaves beating other slaves to death for the sake of entertainment.
Anything taking you out of that movie was a good thing imo, because it was terrible for the most part. But I feel where you are coming from with that. But the fact is people in real life do get carried away like that during conversations about things they are passionate about, which is what I liked with some of his films, but like you said, sometimes that shit is out of place and just that dude projecting.
Whateva nigga.
The truth is if a white man didn’t make this movie the only thing that people would be arguing about is the portrayal of the white folks in this movie. Period. Spike lee and Tyler Perry are kicking themselves because they didn’t make it first.
They mean absolutely the same thing. Black people just trick themselves into believing they don’t. All of it comes from a place of inferiority.
No spike lee black ass wouldn’t even be allowed to get funding .Fucking Danny glover can’t get funding for a Toussaint Louverture because their wont be a white character in it to be the guide or white savior.Spike Lee couldn’t get enough funding or distribution for Miracle at St Anne because they deemed it unmarketable to white audience same way with red tails .Let a black director attempt this shit he will get fucked by the execs and shelved permanently if not dropped.
Lets get shit clear QT likes saying nigger cuz he thinks he is down to some hipster ass white folks being down and keeping their whiteness is like plus five hipster points. This cornball been walking around rocking kangols and wu wear this whole release to look down .Je has even said this shit that he bases it off of how he thinks cool black people talk.
