As far as this Spike Lee stuff goes, my opinion on people that are very outspoken about something (be it a movie or video games or whatever) while simultaneously refusing to see it/play it/generally research it are massive fucking idiots.
The movie was fucking incredible. Tarantino admitted there were things he found in his research that he COULD HAVE shown, but were even too gruesome for him to portray, so it’s not like he’s not conscientious of a proverbial “line” that “should not” be crossed. Yeah, there were some terrible things depicted, but do you think slavery was just the mundane 9-to-5 of the time… some routine “desk job” with an outdoor cubicle? The only reason the violence is in question is because of the media and NRA reaching for arguments in the shadow of the recent tragedy. However, people who think the use of nigga/nigger is “too much” want some sugarcoated portrayal of a despicable era because that’s what is politically correct. You actually want slave traders and owners to parade around with the facade that they’re respectable people in a movie entrenched in the horror that was slavery? Or do you want to see what they were really like and actually FEEL some contempt towards them? If you’re disgusted by the word nigga (or nigger, though it’s the south so most accents lead to it sounding like the former) then you should be disgusted with the characters putting Uncle “Stephen” Ruckus to shame by using it like the word “the.” That is the point. It’s not only authentic, it’s a tool. You want to feel detached from the people killed… you don’t want to empathize with bad guys, especially when you’re killing them off by the dozens.
Anyway… as I said, amazing movie that will probably compete with my all-time favorite movies and Pulp Fiction as my favorite QT movie once it’s released on Blu-ray/DVD.
I bet most people who are up in arms over Django probably find Boondocks and Madea hilarious. I love double standards!
Imagine the backlash if that speech from the MLK episode was written by a white guy lol.

Can’t catch a break…
I don’t think it’s possible to like both Boondocks and Tyler Perry. Kinda makes me wonder what kind of person YOU are to even think something like that is even humanly possible unless it was some person that just laughs at ANYTHING.
Fair enough. Just add a “/or” before “Madea”.
^Anyone who doubts that man likes watching vile and wicked things should remember that Jersy Shore and Here comes honey boo boo are top rated shows. :wasted:
On topic, I’m still torn about the movie. I don’t even care about watching movies anymore since A) There is always one or two assholes in a movie theater and B) My home system is as good if not better in terms of audio and video and C) All the snacks I want as well as complete controll of the movie. Also, D) for Dollars. They ain’t cheap to go watch. I’ll probably end up waiting unless I get enough IRL hype saying otherwise.

For me the best part of the movie was when Django pretty much set the tone for how his character would be for the rest of the movie when he shot down the first brother. I’ll never forget that line either:
“I like the way you die boy…”
I don’t know what’s worse, the movies length, or how it’s going to make white people get all defensive/say stupid things and black people act like they were there to make white people feel bad AKA both races being stupid about it.
It’s about slavery, they are going to threat the black people like animals. Duh. QT isn’t trying to shock you like that retarded Rule 48 movie, that’s just how it was.
It was a good movie, but too long and too Tarantino’d up. Lose some of those speeches man.
not a fan of quintin and know alot of black people who aren’t including myself.
i personally don’t mind anyone using that word in a movie, tv show, whatever as long as they aren’t ham fisting in there where it comes off ingenuous and kinda racist.
to respond to another comment of yours
you live in a society, whether you think the n-word is offensive or not really doesn’t matter, its majority rule. deal with it.
some people like it, some people don’t
respect each persons wishes, hows hard is that
no no no, you should do that
you have no empathy
or as the kenshin the battosai put it
" when you don’t value others lives , you devalue your own"
so by you even suggesting that
your life is worthless , especially over something as trivial as people having a different opinion from you
you get a clap
i agree
everything on bet that didn’t come from another channel is FAR more ignorant that this movie.
to play devils advocate
i can honestly say the boondocks is a generally more educational and enlightening experience than this movie or anything tyler perry has ever done.
i can also say that about the proud family
black people are really good at making cartoons for some reason
chapelle show season 2 all over again
I also find it hilarious that a nigga (I use that word intentionally) who says the word “nigga” more times in one sentence than any caricature in history (Katt Williams) had a problem with the use of the word “nigga/nigger” in this movie.
Holy shit page 2 and not locked yet. What is this, I don’t even…
Wait, an 1800’s Southern themed movie dealing with slavery used the word nigger? Outrageous!
Anyway, awesome movie, going back again after work tomorrow morning, easily my favorite movie this year. Christoph Waltz was great, I loved him in this even more than I did in Basterds.
Christoph Waltz is a very charismatic actor and quickly becoming a favorite. His timing, both comedic and serious are absolutely perfect. He did a superb job in this film.

This thread, ironically enough, reminds me of white people and/or conservatives refusing to acknowledge Spike Lee as a good filmmaker, because they were offended by something he said or did. It’s like that game Ikaruga.
Tarantino needs to quit remixing dormant or obscure genre movies, like he’s been doing for 2 decades now. It’s a gimmick at this point. But this thread isn’t about movies so whatev.
