Django Unchained : How many times can we use the word "nigga" thread

Clearly you didn’t watch it. CLEARLY

I don’t have anything more to say if that video doesn’t make sense too you and everyone else.

Welp, you didn’t, so let it begin.

First off, he starts off saying he’s not going to have a conversation about this word because it doesn’t involve him, BUT THEN HE STARTS TO RANT ABOUT IT.

Second off, no, he’s wrong, EVERYONE IS A PART OF THIS DISCUSSION, it’s word, this is a free country, you don’t go restricting access to something because some find it offensive, that’s not how this fucking country works, that’s not how this fucking world works, that’s not how fucking life works.

Whether he likes it or not, it is a discussion he needs to have, and have seriously, because this word, just like every other word on the face of the earth, inhabits all facets of everyone’s life.

YES, the Indian kid walking down the street does not have to deal with the word Nigger as a historically damning thing, fucking of course, but if you think that puts him out of the discussion, your understanding of racism and discrimination in general is elementary at best.

How long until Nigger comes back as a hateful word for white people, or Indians, alot of people already use it as a synonym for just ignorance.

His attempts to be culturally sensitive only do more harm, he is effectively giving more power to the word by treating it as a land mine, and not a fucking word.

It’s a fucking word. A fucking word. A fucking word.

Yes, a word used to hurt (presumably, I think you’re black) our people for a long time, but the longer you hang on to the bitterness of such a thing, the longer the ghosts of antebellum and before hold onto your psyche.

Humanizing the word, weakening the word, is a much better solution then treating it as something to be locked up or only taken out in serious discussion.

Because all filmakers, even the shitty ones, are artists, and as soon as we condeem and/or damn artists for doing something to convey an image because it hurts you is the same time we head down a dark road of ignorance, creative depression, and censorship.

This wouldn’t be a problem if QT was black.

The problem is that people agree with that line of thinking.

Also, lol@ that dude thinking that writing it is somehow better than saying it out loud.

That is a height of ignorance I cannot even comprehend.

Is this the elusive black version of “I’m not racist, ask my black friend?”

Im not gonna argue with you or anyone. But discussion of the word always leads to “get over it” and “its a word” with some white person coming through and spamming it to “prove” that its just a word. I could say Just get over it about alot of things that we as american’s “respect” words doctrines and holiday’s and pay respect’s to annually.

this is 100% true 30 and under crowd loves his movies. I haven’t meet any older black people especially down here in the south that Co sign him though.

All this a side discuss the movie, since that’s what the thread is about

How willing you are to mention something previously taboo is usually a sign of healing.

I’m not talking about “nigga nigger nigga nuchavnanvoanvkavanvavk”, I’m talking about just using something.

When you’re hurt, it’s either something you don’t want to act like exists, keeping it safe in it’ own little memorial, or disrespecting it.

Examples: Every bad thing that has happened more than 50 years ago.

I know when my father passed, I would casually joke about his death, I wasn’t over it, I attempted to get over it, my mother did the opposite, treating his name or anything relating to him as cancerous, but the two of us are now healing, we can talk about him and not make callous jokes or go all mousy, we can put a Santa Claus hat on his urn.

How the FUCK is it not advocating use of racial slurs, when you see white people who fucking exist TODAY using that classless word on screen? You know for a FACT it had nothing to do with historical accuracy. The whole movie could have been the same, if not better without some shithead, classless, ignorant white boy yelling that word every three screens.

You’re so desensitized and just plain brainwashed, that you accept anything negative, as long as it is entertaining, heck, you even admitted that you enjoy watching vile and wicked things. You’ve done nothing but prove my point about the majority of you fucktard a having no more than 98IQ.

Enjoy your shit thread, you logic-less, emotional, pleasure driven bitches.

No one take the troll bait, everyone run.

Nigglet is my favorite form of nigga.

Nigg is a close second.

Also if the word nigga/nigger still offends you in the 21st century then you should kill yourself. Do this planet a favor please.

LMFAO @ This Thread in the words of The Miz really? really? no wait really?

I came in here to discuss this Amazing movie, which is prolly one of the best movies this year and I see that our dialogue is not about the movie but about its use of the word nigger?

Lemme see now unless somebody can do a movie about U.S. Black slaves w/o using nigger which was used back then prolly more than all movies combined then well kanye shrug to that.

The same people that walked out are the same people that can tolerate senseless violence in other movies but when it comes to something we know is real they bounce? Its sad but slavery was a part of our history. We have no idea just how bad the shit was. We have records to go by etc Im not gonna break all that shit down now cause this isnt the forum for it.

I saw the trailer, said ok A free slave killing slave owners sounds like something I wanna see. Its during slavery times, Tarantino directing Im sure Im going to hear nigger mad times but thats what was going on back then.

The movie is for entertainment now did they just say nigger a bunch of times and it wasnt entertaining fuck no!!! Movie was dope as hell.

Sam L character gave a whole new meaning to uncle Tom almost everything he said had me laughing out loud. Everybody did a great job, from Jamie to Leo etc.

I enjoyed the movie from start to finish action was A+ cause well we all know Qt does graphic violence and this shit was graphic. Dialogue was very well done. Chirstoph Waltz was so funny and I dont think he was even trying to be funny.

Dr Shultz: Where is he?
DJango: He the one booking it in the field!
Dr Schultz: You positive?
DJango: What that is?
Dr Schultz: It means are you sure
DJango: Yes
Dr Schultz: Fires his rifle so you were positive that was him?
Django: Im positive he dead

Rodimus reaction dies laughing in the theater which causes the rest of my quiet theater to start dying laughing with me.

I mean I was entertained,

when I was a kid i wrote a action story involving harriet tubman being a badass assassin and murking slave owners in they sleep while freeing slaves. My creative writing teacher told me that would prolly be a good movie so Django Unchained is the closest thing imma get to a freed slave doing anything badass.

The movie is great, its fiction obviously with some truthful things that were going on then. Slave owners whipped blacks, tortured blacks, castrated blacks, raped black slave women etc.

Its prolly one of QT best movies.

8.9/10

My only gripe with the movie was you can sorta feel the length towards the end, not to spoil it but it should have ended with a “handshake” but the 20mins after it is just the craziest of crazy action.

Awesome movie.

^First off, are you Black yourself?

And to the other poster, I know plenty of Black ppl who don’t care for QT. Me myself, I think he’s an ok filmmaker, but not the God-tier one most fanboys make him out to be. And not only Spike have a problem with him, Denzel does as well (b/c of some racial dialouge from ‘Crimson Tide’ years ago).

Plus, considering the fact the US have never officially apologized for Slavery (one of the few free industrailized countries that haven’t) then you can probably see why many would have a problem with the only movies about slavery that has been made so far was by White/Jewish guys.

I haven’t seen it yet (trying to get a free pass…damn sure aint paying to see it), so I have to reserve my judgement for it until then.

But yea, just like the other poster says, I think films like this (and some rap music and reality TV shows) gives some whites a excuse to use or say the ‘N’ word w/o any guilt.

I would be kind of disappointed if the word “nigger” wasn’t used in a movie set in the deep south during the 1800s.

I love how some people choose this movie to get upset about the use of racial slurs.

Do any of you go into the rap thread and derail it with this shit? Because if there was an unnecessary “nigga” monopoly, it would be there.

Did any of you complain to your principals in 7th grade when Mark Twain used it in Huck Finn? Anyone?

oh boy, you need to check out twitter. I literally got called an uncle tom for liking django. Trust me, you got militant black people that REALLY didn’t like this movie like that because of the N word.

Lol people up in arms about a film based in Slavery Era USA using the word “nigga” and ignore when movies/shows based on books represent black characters with white actors if the role is significant (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Hunger Games off the top of my head).

You have no idea what was required of me not to take the bait, especially when i saw the historical accuracy thing. My fuckin head hurts right now.
Also from the moment i saw the commercials for this movie I knew it would make a lot of people butt hurt over the time period it was set in.

This. Tyler Perry’s bullshit is vastly more ignorant and racist than anything I’ve seen in Django, and because he’s a black writer/ director who masquerades as a “strong uppity black woman” he gets away with this shit all the time.

The only issues that made me feel uncomfortable about the movie was knowing the fact that this shit actually happened, and also that people (white people specifically) might not realize that everything from those disturbing Inquisition-styled slave masks, Mandingo fighting, castrations and black whorehouses were actually refreshingly historically accurate.

Like there are so many anonymous testimonials (the stuff you’d never learn in grade school) from freed slaves that had slavemasters raping slave women in front of their families in broad daylight just for laughs, slaveowners taking sniper shots at random slaves in the field for no malfeasance, deformed black babies being taken from the arms of their mothers who just gave birth and thrown to dogs because they had no economic value.

THIS WAS REAL.

We’ve been brought up on the idea that slavery was just black people picking cotton in the fields for 16 hours a day then singing negro spirituals over a pot of chitlins and collard greens in undisturbed solace. Sure this perception still sounds bad, but it’s an almost romanticized idea that modern people can live with so they can sleep at night- overlooking the depraved horrors that happened on a daily basis.

This was a systematic and sociopathic dehumanization of an entire group of people.

Quintin Tarintino uses a lot of profanity and racial shit in his movies, not so much to be shocking, but to ground them in the reality of our fucked up culture. That is/was the way people speak, so that is how he portrays it. It would in fact be racist to not have it be that way. In fact if it was truly racist it wouldn’t even have black ppl in it. They would have a bunch of white’s in blackface acting as crude caricatures of what they believed a negro is.

That being said sometimes it is hit or miss with the conversations he puts in his flicks but for the most part you could actually believe that people in his movies are having normal everyday conversations about shit even when in extraordinary settings. Unlike a lot of dumb ass movies, like fucking stupid fucking TWISTER I WISH THAT MOVIE WAS NEVER FUCKING MADE FUCK YOU HELEN HUNT WHO THE FUCK ACTS LIKE THAT IN REAL LIFE?

Are white people allowed to be mad about there only being ONE even decent white person in this film? I mean wtf is that bullshit. If Dr. Schultz wasn’t in this movie it would have been all slave owners, overseers, incest practicing, racist slur slinging, backwood fucks. Why do we need to be the fucking badguys*

Saw the movie yesterday, with my dad and little brother. It was really good imo. The cuts and quick zooms and the fonts used really set the tone as a Western. QT wanted to make a Western so he sets it in the South and uses slavery to tell a really well done story, in his style: violent (this is by far is most bloody movie that I can remember), amazing dialogue is the strongest part about it like all of his movies the Django and Dr. Schultz’s conversations were great, Candie’s character was really well done (the dinner table scene bravo), Sam Jackson was hysterical. There was a lot of physical humor
Catchall to talk about spoilers. SERIOUSLY DON’T READ

[details=Spoiler]Funny: The dude at the shootout getting shot while he was on the ground 4-5 times after he lost his gun and was writhing in pain. The Klansman leaving because his wife’s bags were getting shit on by everybody. The girl that led Django around was like “You chose to dress like that?”

Serious stuff: I like when movies kinda lay a plot out like the Brumhilda/Sigfried///Hilde/Django parallel spending the winter on a mountatin, facing a dragon (as the form of the shootout or Candie breathing smoke all the time take your pick) and then finally walking through the smoke at the end. There was some really graphic violent scenes with the big nigga fight being by far the worse. All in all I loved the movie[/details]

Fuck, man. Just go see it, unless you’re the type of person that only likes romantic comedies because…fuck you.

*I really hope you guys understand that whole thing was a joke.
