Jaime a little more hood than Will.
Only other black to have a “positive” part was the dude who one the fight.

I think it would have been better with an unknown to play Django or even solids like Edris Elba,Chiwetel Ejiofor, or Derek Luke…Still Jamie did his thang but i too was distracted cuz Jamie did a Western comedy scene in the Jamie Fox show…
Sucks that you had to remember that while watching Django. Jamie was the right person for the job. Plus him being a texan it must be a big deal to play a cowboy on the silver screen.
Yep
Even though Wyatt was from Kansas, being from Arizona, I’d kill to be a Cowboy, lol.
the hollywood gunslinger, not rancher.
Is it just me, or did all the white folk in the movie never say nigga? IIRC, they all said Nigger, while all the black folk said nigga.
nah the white dude dressed in all white said nigga when he was saying, you wanna purchase wanna my nigga gals, and that was probably the largest exchange of the word nigga in the movie. leondardo kind of said nigga instead of nigger at times, but probably due to the southern accent he was doing also, but yeah it wasnt alway an agry ERRRR from the white folks, but jamie mostly said nigga as expected. i dont think he said the er version once.
edit: actually most of the time it was nigga, niggas, and usually only when it was super hick time was it like, get dem niggers out of here, over here, come here nigger.
I watched it last night. I really liked it. Very funny (unintended but still) and a strong cast (Waltz, DiCaprio and Jackson). The last 20 mins feel a little too much but even after 2 h you don’t really think you’ve been in the theater that long. I like how QT referenced himself when the white guys at Candyland came to shoot Django. Scene looked exactly as the Crazy 88’s entrance from Kill Bill Vol. 1. Very explicit violence, a few of them unnecessarily violent maybe, but I guess that is his style* (I’m talking about mainly the parts where people shoot other people. The dogs part, mandingo fight, etc I think it serves to show how brutal the slaves were treated).
I was hoping to see that his way to get back at him after the “handshake” would be to remove his fugly teeth for a 12k fee.
I also laughed at the fact that Django’s wife was named Brunhilda (like someone else mentioned, it kinda set up what was gonna happen next). My wife asked me as they said the name: Isn’t that like a valkyrie from german lieds? Glad she recognized it.
This movie was fucking genius. Completely and unapologetically inappropriate and politically incorrect and I love that niggas be hating that they didn’t think of it before QT sealed the deal. It’s a period piece and if you think for one second this shit didn’t happen and to an even greater extent then you must be out of your cotton-picking’ mind AND drowning in that white-wash. Nigga please.
I genuinely bust a gut when Django popped Ms. Lady Honkey from the balcony with a revolver from yards away & above and the crazy bitch flew sideways in a completely different direction than the trajectory of the bullet. Regardless if the wire-work was dead-on and they played it straight or it was an accident and they still played it straight it was hilarious.
And yes, Stephen is the real FINAL BOSS in this flick. The Uncle Toms were the real problem, Django having to play the part of Uncle Tom to keep his cover to get to the last stage was terrible and he knew it, he was repulsed by it and wrecked Stephen’s shit because of it. Believe slavery started and then steamrolled into some next-level nonsense because some Uncle Toms back in Africa sold out their own people. Literally.
QT is on point. And it’s sharp. Reality tastes harder than that Kool-Aid y’all been on.
Obviously Quentin was crying because he’s a racist.
-.-
Some people here watched this movie hella late, hype is gone.
His dick didnt need to be in the movie
should have shown more tittes
plus that guy had to grab it, lol
Man if Django somehow wins Best Picture, I expect Spike Lee’s salt levels to rise exponentially…lol.
Only thing my white friends have a problem with the movie is…
In the scene where Schultz shoots Candi, some of the guys are saying “If he just shook his hand, it would’ve been over and the entire last 20 minutes of shooting wouldn’t have happened. Candi would’ve got $12,000 for a nigger that speaks German and would’ve been happy.”
I personally think that there’s no way Candi lets them out of Candiland alive after wasting all his time with his lies and shit.
This hsa been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
Thoughts?
Nah i think he would have let them go, just being able to get the best of them…You cant just kill a white man & expect to get away with it…Anyway, Shultz needed to die so Django can rise to be the hero.
I think that Quentin deserves best director more than the movie deserves best picture.
He thought himself to be a southern gentleman, which in the Antebellum South was a delusion of being European nobility, hence his love of French. [/details]
I saw the list, he didn’t even get a nomination for best director. Tarantino staying getting robbed since Pulp Fiction. Oh well, doesn’t matter anyway. I don’t think QT is one of those folks who values getting honored with a tin statue in order to feel appreciated. It’s all about the ride and he’s given fans one hell of a ride so far with his filmography. I still want to see him make that rumored Shaw Bros. Inspired Kung-Fu movie in Cantonese/Mandarin and dubbed in English.
QT will not repeat himself.
Saw it a couple of weekends ago. I rather liked the film and I knew about the N-bombs going in. Personally, they didn’t bother me cause that’s the period for the word to be thrown around as it was. It never really came off as comedic to me, but just accurate and considering most of the people who used it met bad ends, it seemed appropriate, considering the story.
My main complaint is that while he was really hilarious, Jackson sort of… broke the immersion a bit. He very much likes to play the same character (in terms of dialogue anyway) and you’ve very much aware it’s Samuel Jackson acting, and while I still enjoyed the time at the plantation, it was hard to ignore that sort of thing. Also, the ending felt a bit rushed and certain characters like Candi’s sister and that bandana wearing girl weren’t developed at all. Like, they seemed like they could’ve been interesting, but they hardly get lines.
That said, still a great film. Highly recommend it, if you like a good western, QT, or just interesting characters in general. I give it a 8/10
