Oh yeah I completely agree. Yang was one of the hardest matches in 3S because he could simply lock you down in the corner, and his EX mantis slashes were GDLK. But in 3S Yang utilized his EX moves much more than in SSF4. In SSF4 it’s much more about landing the big combo… like Mantis slash X2 FADC launcher etc… I agree with what Justin Wong says about Yang ending up being top tier in the game, because he fits really well into the engine and has a lot of weapons to his disposal.
Having said this, I still think Yun is an excellent character and more fun to play IMO.
i dont know. after a while i don’t really agree with Justin anymore. I think Yun is the better character. I think Yun has to struggle less than Yang does. i think Yang is good but it really feels harder to get in with Yang than Yun. Plus Yun seems to do more damage as well as a better dk.
Can Yun combo his palm off a cr.MK like Yang can? I’ve never tried it myself yet… in fact I don’t even know if there’s a difference between Yun and Yang’s palms.
Apparently Yun is difficult to pressure according to Tokido on wake-up. Might I ask why? You can’t even cancel your upkicks to be safe, so really wondering.
Anyone know what upkicks start up is?
As for Tokido, my guess would be upkicks can beat out divekicks no matter the spacing. So youre stuck with safe palm. Unlike most characters where you can space a demonflip divekick to make a reversal whiff or get stuffed entirely. And when you really only have one truely safe option… makes pressure games tough.
No maybe ex palm can combo. Cr mk doesn’t give you enough frame advantage. It maybe possible to combo off of his st mp. That seems to the normal that grants the most frame advantage on hit. You can’t combo into ex lunge punch with any other normal outside of st mp. So if it’s going to be any normal it will be off of that.
It seems like you can’t combo EX lunge after st.MP unless it’s after the target combo (LP, LK, MP). That’s what I’ve found at least. And yeah you can’t combo palm like Yang can, not even after a cl.MK launcher (except in GJ haha).
Hey everyone, this is going to sound completely dumb but I gotta ask.
I’m totally excited about Yun and Yang possibly coming to console (we all hope anyway)
but I never played 3rd Strike so I have zero clue how they actually play. Is there a character(s) in SSF4 that I should play around with whose movesets are similar?
The closest, I would say, would be Rufus, if only for his divekick into BnB combos ending in Galactic Tornado. Otherwise, the majority of the similarities between Rufus and the twins would just be the move animations for some of their normals and and special moves. For example, Rufus’ j.hk looks much like Yun’s upkicks but functions differently; although both are somewhat viable anti-airs, Rufus’s j.hk gives him a juggle while Yun’s upkicks don’t (unless you’re talking about EX but that’s just nitpicking). Picking up Rufus in preparation for the twins could also mean you’d be in for a rude awakening once you get your hands on the twins because you’d be used to the higher health rating.
Getting used to combo’ing into Fei Long’s Rekkas could probably help with learning Yang’s BnB Mantis Slash combos too.
In the end though, I’d say the twins have fairly unique movesets compared to the rest of the cast so I don’t think there’s any one particular character that could really emulate how they play.
Hey thanks a lot for your input, it is really appreciated!
just wish I had an arcade closer to me then 3 hours away and even then I doubt they’d have SSF4AE
