LOL he has way more means to combo into U1 and he can combo into BOTH super and U1 at the same time.
Besides, one of the reasons people whine about Yun is that his shoulder and lunge punch is actually quite hard to punish, and ex lunge punch is the most bullshit move in this game.
For those who said Yun is not broken, obviously you haven’t played AE long enough …
^FAIL^
Because the game hasnt been out for long (on console) its unlikely to come across many exceptional yun/yang players. From whats come out of Japanese arcades he is the absolute best character in the game. This doesnt necessarily mean “Broken” but over time we will have to see how the community takes to him and weather or not he becomes another Vanilla Sagat.
Yeah, needs a little bit getting used to… I have big trouble to cancel the st.MP in LP shoulder oder Air kicks. Thats because of the srk motion I am maining Cody and I’m not really used to cancel into DP motion xD
When I try to cancel into air kicks my Yun often does the Command Grab ^^
9/10ths of people will never play a yun good enough that him being S-tier will actually matter.
The world didn’t complain much about Vanilla Sagat being “over powered.”
Vanilla Sagat wasn’t broken but he was s-tier until the end of vanilla where Akuma ran circles around him.
Yun seems to be in the same league as v.Sagat.
Don’t complain and ask for patches. That’s just being spoiled and always asking for a solution and blaming the developer for not making the game balanced.
Just deal with it.
What the hell? Yun’s wakeup is probably the best of the game. His backdash can’t be OS to a sweep, his HK/EX Kicks (whatever is called that retarded move) are safe if it didn’t autocorrect because they travel a lot of space, and even if it were blocked they travel so much space the most punish you’re gonna get is a sweep or an special, plus he has an startup invincible command grab. The fact he can’t FADC that retarded move is because it would be broken it that was possible.
What more do you want? Have you ever experienced, for instance, Vega’s wakeup? He has no wakeup at all, not a single move with inv. frames at startup, all he can do is block, he has low health too and a lot of mobility too, just like Yun.
Anyone telling he has problems on Yun’s wakeup should stop playing matches and go directly to training mode.
And practice every single wake up situation? Is that really how it goes nowadays? deeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
Considering you haven’t been able to USE training mode until two days ago, I’m fairly confident some new technology against the twins is going to be discovered. I wouldn’t really call Yun’s wake-up the best either, though it is definitely above average.
Vanilla Sagat and AE Fei are scarier than the twins, if you ask me. It is a bit more frustrating to lose to the twins though, because let’s be honest - most people don’t like losing in guessing games. Just how it is.
In addition, anyone calling either twin ‘broken’ needs to play more fighting games. They’re -strong-, -good-, or -overpowered- even. Not broken.
He isn’t even close to broken.
Yun has the best wakeup in the game? lol. Maybe you should head into training mode and learn how to punish it. Even his EX starts up in 4 frames meaning it can be safejumped. It also can be punished by a lot of the cast after it whiffs. Since it can’t be FADCed, I’d say it’s a pretty shitty wakeup option -> especially if the opponent can get a good punish off of it. With Yun’s low stamina it makes mashing reversal a really bad idea against some of the cast.
Btw, the HK version starts up in 8 frames - not exactly a great reversal option. The other ones don’t travel the distance you are talking about.
Sweep leads to untech knockdown, so it’s really not that bad a punish since you can safe jump again. Yun’s biggest weaknesses are his low health, weak hitbox on cr.MK, and bad wakeup game. Overall his defensive options aren’t that great - which is why he isn’t scrub friendly like vanilla ryu or super guile was.
IMO, Yun isn’t broken, not even close. He is a very strong offensive character, but he is going to have bad matchups against characters with an answer to his divekicks - ie Zangief.
I also think Vanilla Sagat was stronger than Yun (at least from I can tell right now) because he had no bad matchups at all. Super Cammy was probably just as strong.
@ Dwiguitar: Oh, like I mentioned I’m still a beginner at Yun I know nothing about him lmao. I didn’t even know this, any more ways to combo into his ultra through a combo?
And @Xekrn: Yea I can see what you mean with his Shoulder being hard to punish, no one has really punished me yet when I threw those out. Although I don’t know, A non FADC’ble DP that sometimes even misses, unsafe specials apart from his ex lunge, below average health/stun just does not scream ‘‘This char is broken!!’’ to me, but there is a reason everyone puts him @ 1# in Japan, I know why he’s amazing for sure just the word ‘‘Broken’’ doesn’t connect with me (Cough Yang can FADC his DP, and he has an escape special/more ways to connect ultraaa hes better jkjkjk)
Also I haven’t played a decent Yun yet and I have probably only watched 1 Yun video, so I just don’t know lol, I will find out why he’s broken later.
He isnt broken and he has frame advantage in almost all his moves.
before i was… but it was just my d-pad for my controller that wouldn’t let me do the right moves for the first 20 minutes into the game…
still practicing though.
Yun is the best character to game. But it takes more to win with Yun than just dive kick/combo. honestly if a character was really bad, he’d be able to random better players out. Yun and Yang can’t really random out anyone. They may be the best, but they play in a way where you have to be smart with them
Yun is pretty good, but he is not easy to play, so i dont think we will be seeing many of them online.
But unfortunely i think the championships will be crowed with Yuns and Yangs making it quite boring to watch.
Boring? Where are all the people who were asking for the twins way back in vanilla?
I just find it surreal how people got what they asked for in AE (more characters and tweaks) and yet they are still not content.
Sure, the balance in the game is not the best, but hey, Guy and Hakan are viable now. Maybe I’ll go pick them up.
No, people will learn this matchup so well, that it’ll be harder for Yun to stand out. He’s good, but not good like 3s Chun, or A3 Akuma. It seems that matchup knowledge is the key here. I think anyone even halfway decent in the mathcup will elminate most Yuns at evo
I saw a great blanka punishing his dive kicks very reliably.
can most anti airs beat his dive kicks if they are quick enough ? that seemed to be the hole in yuns rush, in the blanka pwnd yun video I saw, the yun had great rush.
It’s like when Super came out most people forgot how to fight Rufus. Playing against Yun is like playing against Rufus. You have to vary your anti-airs based on his divekick angles. Trust me, they’re seeable. Rufus actually dive kicks much lower than the twins and he has more range, plus he dies much slower. I mean I just remember when SFIV vanilla arcade came out, and the first week people thought Rufus was broken. Theny people started figuring out how to keep him out of the air. He still remained a good character, but not at the top of everyones list as broken. Yun and Yang have options, but people act like you can’t anti-air dive kicks. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that you just need to familiarize yourself with the spacing.
