this thread is shitty but i will point out one offtopicish piece of nonsense because fuck it
all this shows is that you know jack shit about the game
if you think valkenhayn=slayer, you
1)have not seen good footage of valkenhayn
2)have not played valkenhayn
or
3)are insane/stupid/something
he is nothing like slayer except “DURR BUTLER AND HE DOES A KICK THAT IS KIND OF LIKE 5K I GUESSHDFDFHSHF.” do you even know anything about valk’s wolf form
tsubaki is not order sol. sharing a mechanic=/=being the same as a character, unless you think holy order sol is kazuki, in which case you are retarded.
litchi is millia? arakune is zato? have you played any of those four characters? Have you watched any of them played at a decent level? apparently not, or you are so unaware with fighting games that you are unable to distinguish between, say, akuma and sagat.
If you think Bang, Taokaka, Litchi, Mu, Rachel, Valkenhayn, Platinum, Hazama, Lambda, Noel, or Makoto really correlate with anyone in GG as much as to have “The same general moveset”, you have no idea what you are talking about. Pointing out vague similarities(as in tsubaki’s case) or just asinine comparisons like valkenhayn=slayer says more about you than about GG/BB.
Seriously, who plays like Rachel in GG? Who plays like Litchi in GG? Hell, Jin isn’t really ky and Ragna certainly isn’t sol.(partially since sol is actually a good, complete character)
Now THAT’S being defensive. I just meant he shares the same aesthetics, nothing else.
You didn’t even think Slayer is mostly punches = Valkenhyn = Mostly kicks.
Slayer’s not even a butler, he’s a count and a vampire who lives in a different dimension who doesn’t fight to his full abilit-…wait, that’s Rachel. They’re basically loli Alucard and teen Walter with an even bigger age gap, its even in their names.
A very specific mechanic that is made by the same developer. I used to freaking main Tsubaki, so I didn’t mean it literally.
Oh come on man, now you just plain went into blindly firing everything. In the story.
Blazblue was the first game I played for three years straight for Pete’s sake, but original it totally isn’t.
Just come out and say ANIEM GARMES ARE FOR PADOFEELYAS.
I agree most of the games I listed are horribly questionable in their presentation but really I’m not going to my friend’s birthday party, a bar run, hitting up the club, going out to eat and yelling “DUDE HOLY SHIT CHECK OUT THIS SWEET SWAG TECH I HAVE WITH CHARACTER WHO IS 4 YEARS OLD, SHIT IS CRAZY”.
I think this would make a great episode of Maury though .
Backpedal harder. You said nothing to indicate that you only meant story, and previously you were saying the characters were based off GG’s movesets.
also, nobody gives a shit about the story.
I like all kinds of fighters, their aesthetics have to be really bad for me to not like them. I’m not so shallow as to instantly dislike them because they’re “anime” fighters.
That being said, I don’t delude myself into thinking they’re not something they were meant to be. I like Arcana Heart, it’s a well balanced game; but I’m not going to deny the fact that the game was made for otaku shut-ins to fantasize about. I still like it, I’m just aware of what it is.
Story’s a part of the fighting game, can’t claim backpedaling when you’re calling out irrelevance just because you want to.
Plus I ain’t backpedaling, you’re just thinking “based” = exact clone rather than being influenced in a direct way.
You saying Ragna and Jin don’t take some inspirations from Sol and Ky? Arakune and Litchi from Eddie and EDIT: dammit, meant Jam. Oops.
Dizzy and Rachel? Bang and Taokaka with Chipp and Millia?
Sean plays absolutely nothing like Ryu but it would be retarded to say its just a coincidence.
I could be anything to a 600 pound philly steak stuffer to a 230 pound hobby-level MMA kickboxer who could snap your neck, and same with you. And just me? Not to a mass of a fan-base that he was actually referring to? That’s just a punk.
If this is aimed at the post I made about it: no (though many really dumb GiantBomb commenters would disagree). I pointed it out as an example where a sexualized art style was done in parody and purposely over the top.
I aint gonna lie, I like alot of the AH designs and I’m sitting here waiting for that Aquapazza console release and have been grinding MBAACC. But people are way to soft skin when it comes to people not liking anime games, yeah their is a ton of dumb hate against them but fuck people just ignore them and move on.
Speaking of AACC, wheres my playable Dust of Osiris dammit, love that design.
If you think Bang’s moveset is just a “variation” on chipp’s you’re nuts. And no, being chinese doesnt mean litchi is much like jam. It is not even like jam defined her trope.
There is a difference between taking some inspiration and being unoriginal, and I care more about the movelists themselves than “ohhh is jin some main guy with a sword like ky” which is just whatever and has more to do with these games in general than bb/gg.
Dizzy/rachel and taokaka/millia are just random-ass comparisons, you’re just being silly.
Again, i am mostly complaining about
I dont care if both GG and BB use some typical angry main guy with sword trope or monstrous-dark-thing-trope or whatever.
I don’t hate anime fighters, I just play games that have a lot of good competition in my area. No one really plays anime fighters in Santa Cruz so I don’t bother playing them. On the real tho, last tournament I went to there was some BB setups and all the fucking weird ass teenagers with acne and headphones around their necks were mobbed in that corner. I was like, “so thats who plays anime fighters”
yeah bro last time I went to a SF4 tournament all I saw were 9 foot tall six armed gorgons playin the games with their gentalia and i totally thought the same thing
Oh just STOP cause I will. If your argument degrades to “its not that they are connected in any way, they just took from the same exact influence instead” and “that’s my opinion bro”, there’s no point.
Though Rachel is an all-range, high mobility, lower-mid health character that does both keepaway and rushdown with the assist of manually done traps and projectiles.
