mmkay, back to playing what I genuinely like while not caring what other people think.
HOWEVER, that being said, what I don’t appreciate is people bashing anime games just to be part of the “let’s hate games that aren’t Street Fighter and Mahvel” bandwagon. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing those games as well and if there’s a legitimate reason why you don’t like games such as BlazBlue (my main game), Melty, AH, etc., then that’s okay too, but when people are hating on those games simply for no reason at all and just to be part of the “cool SRK club,” and also with all these half assed troll comments just like this recent one found in the CSEX Lambda news post,
then what’s the new blood in the FGC going to think?
Just the other day a few friends of mine asked me what are good fighting games to try out other than SF and Marvel. I suggested them KoF13 and BlazBlue, then they responded “Nah, I don’t think BB is for me, I heard people say in SRK it’s for nerds and perverts and I don’t want to be caught with it.”
It’s shit like this that makes people scared of trying the game out to see if they like it for themselves since they’re scared of being rediculed. :shake:
Blazblue isn’t my cup of tea, and a lot of people bash it indeed, but that has nothing to do with it being an anime game because those same people that bash it, love Guilty Gear.
The reason people bash it is because it doesn’t even come close to being as solid and deep as Guilty Gear, and by comparison to Milla Rage, Potemkin, Eddie, Faust, Jam, etc… The Blazblue characters are quite bland and unoriginal.
I will also say, due to lack of bias here that CS2 is a very solid game. I played CT, and I played CS, and both were boring as fuck, ESPECIALLY CT. The fact that Nu was derr derr derr combos all fucking day really made the game seem pointless to me. At least OP combos in many other games, like Sol’s Sidewinder loop were difficult to pull off. Most people were tainted by 2 cheesy games to care about CS2, quite honestly. It’s nothing to do with the design of the characters, but the design of the game.
When listening to what you read in these parts, you need to see where it’s coming from. I know a lot of the OGs on these threads, and they have their reasons. You also have to realize that 75% of the SRK population doesn’t even play fighting games. They just complain that X game isn’t Y game, and they bitch about it, or they claim to love an obscure game so they get the attention of being the “local knowledge” about it. Half the opinions about the game are biased, but you need to look over that horseshit, honestly. One of the most popular posters on these boards basically bashes EVERY fighting game that isn’t Alpha 2. Doesn’t even matter. What’s worse, I see this dude playing Ultimate Marvel online ALL THE FUCKING TIME… but then they text me, telling me they can’t execute a certain combo or whining about the cheese or something else dumb. SF4 is bullshit to him. SF3 is bullshit to him. Super Turbo playable to him. Marvel is a mashfest. blah blah fuckity blah… That’s 90% of SRK, summed up into one person… and this is somebody I consider an overall good guy and a friend of mine.
A fighting game is going to be a fighting game. If an individual does not like it because of the art style, that is their business. There is no point in being shallow about it, especially if the game turns out good. The truth is, I don’t like AH very much, but it is not going to stop the series from being a noteworthy fighting game, now is it?
Not gonna lie, but it was really hard getting into melty blood. The music and stages were kind of cool, but I can’t stand the cast (with the exception of Nero). The game, regarding the mechanics and gameplay, is quite good though.
At least guilty gear had kickass characters like Testament or Slayer.
most normal people can get away with playing a green guy who shoots electricity out of his ass, but the line is drawn when the entire game is full of overly sexualized pre-teens. you dont quite feel right looking at constant upskirts shots of a character whos supposed to be like 11 or 12 unless you REALLY like the gameplay, which is a point that most people don’t even get to before they feel like a pedophile and stop playing
Indeed, So true.
You know what killed my interest in MB? The pixelated sprites and how dark everything is. Everything is just so… bland about the game.
For me it was really hard to get into games like AH and ML, but after some time those games were really fun, people just need to get rid of those prejudices, people has the right to not play the game if the concept is not comfortable for them, but saying that the game is not good just because you don’t like the concept is really absurd.
I really enjoyed GG, it was my favorite game ever when sammy released XX, holy shit, i had a blast playing the game, when blaz blue was released it felt like GG with less balls anyways i really enjoyed the game (sorry for the comparison).
A lot of people don’t like BlazBlue just because it’s not Guilty Gear. Don’t forget about that one.
Just like - a lot of people are already turning down SFxT because it’s not Street Fighter.
A lot of people hated MvC3 because it’s not MvC2.
People hated SF3 because it wasn’t SF2.
People hated MK3 because it wasn’t MK2…
What does it say about a person when I see a match and think about a fighting game being played, and he sees the same match and can only think about sex and pantyshots?
Because they have different (and worse) mechanics- A legitimate reason IMO.
The problem with it though is that it’s not intended as a sequel. People compare the two because they’re the same company… It’s like comparing Marvel to Street Fighter because they’re both Capcom. It’s not a legitimate reason.
People compare 2 different games because they are 2 different games. The whole point of “comparing” is between 2 things that are different from each other. And then they choose what they see as better.
