Did Someone Say Chimichanga? - Deadpool Thread Reloaded!

Just made an updated video of my Deadpool practice session for beginners and experts. Let me know what y’all think. Enjoy!

hello all. i played a little deadpool in vanilla, but i haven’t played him since umvc3 dropped. thinking of picking him up again, but i have a couple of questions:

  1. do you think skrull and deadpool have synergy? (thinking of running skrull/deadpool/akuma or skrull/deadpool/sentinel)

  2. how well can deadpool match up with zero or wolverine?

some people think deadpool + missiles is a slightly advantageous matchup, but i don’t think that takes zero’s assist into account… wolverine i’m not sure, but you have to be pretty careful with your zoning. i think most wolverine setups can kill you with one touch.

well, most zeroes usually spam Dante’s Jam Session to fill the screen while they pizza cutter, lightning and buster around the screen.

i currently use skrull/wesker/sent (or akuma or sometimes even hawkeye) and none of my characters really do too well against zero (with Dante/Vergil backing him up). i mean, if i get a clean hit, zero is going to die because he has low health but the good Zeroes are pretty hard to hit cleanly. i always feel like i lucked out whenever i win. i get the impression that deadpool can control space really well with the gifts and guns. do you think it’d be enough to at least contain the little top-tier robot? coz i mean, he’s pretty hard to punish as it is, with all his moves and normals being safe or plus on block or cancellable into buster (lol so OP)

Whats the most damaging combo u can get with jam session and akuma tatsu

Just finished up a Team Mercenary CMV with Deadpool/Taskmaster/Dante

Props to Zeohawk for this. I can’t belive nobody is discussing it:

Saying this now
The Deadpool forum will explode.

Damn right! I’m the first deadpool poser on board here. Actually I’ve been trying to understand him for the past few weeks now. So I’m curious just how this damage reset is pulled off? I can do the combo just fine and damage reset isn’t a problem, but why does it reset? I’ve tried different variations of the combo and really just understand its not just the bolo that makes it happen. Then again i’ve only tested it for 30 minutes. You can do this reset with RR’s pendulum assist as well. I have a feeling that is a combination of a couple things in the combo. Any ideas?

My bum ass guess is that it has something to do with bolo but it doesn’t happen all the time without some quick works involved.

Edit: I was able to initiate the reset off of a simpler combo just now.

cr.M st.H H.QW Dash cr.M st.H M.QW Dash S+A1 j.H xx Bolo. I had done it two times in a row but now i cannot get it. :frowning:

Keep it Curleh. Where’s Realpolitix? He could make use of this as well with Doom missiles even though he plays a more zoning heavy Deadpool, you can just use this with Deadpool’s BnB instead of using teleport combos.

Also, the only issue that Zeo’s combo has is how impractical it would be in an actual match. The team organization isn’t healthy for Deadpool in general and the likelihood that it would drop in a tournament setting is… very high. The damage reset is fantastic, and i’ll definitely be working on that and give Zeo props, but with that same team it won’t be pulled off in tourney any time soon.

I guess while I’m here is it absolutely a necessity to use a good lockdown assist with deadpool like drones or missiles? What are the benefits and drawbacks of having the three or four different type of assists with deadlpool on point.

Horizontal assist:
GTFO me:
Lockdown:
Anti-air:

I’m trying to look for a team for deadpool but i would like to know about good assists that compliment his point play and maybe some examples of why said things are bad and good. Thanks for the info!

It’s almost 100% necessary to play either Deadpool/Doom, Deadpool/Strider, Deadpool/Dante, Deadpool/Sent (with a VERY strong third character), or Deadpool/Akuma in some way, shape, or form.
[LIST]
[]Doom:
-Beam assist used to lock down and also assist in zoning. Most notable use of the beam assist is by Rei Chan in his Deadpool/Doom/Wesker team that won KVO in Japan, there is no best way to explain it but finding and watching the KVO WFs and GFs would probably be your best bet.
-Missiles are used for lockdown and zoning purposes from the skies and to make Deadpool’s projectiles and approaches safer. WARNING: You must protect Doom while he’s chucking missiles. You will have to keep your opponent engaged with Deadpool until Doom is close to finished chucking missiles, then go back to attacking with ranged projectiles. However, Doom can be used to bait a punish and then react with a teleport to a full punish combo on reaction. Losing Doom is a big risk and is not suggested unless one is fully confident that the bait will work.
-Missiles can also be used in combos in conjunction with Deadpool’s Madwheel (Forward+M) overhead, such as in this combo. It allows you to use two hyper meters in one combo, significantly increasing the damage Deadpool can do off of one hit confirm. The bnb version of this used is [c.LMHS > sj.MMHS > (land) > DP+HxxH > dash > Madwheel > A1 > QCF+MxxM > j.QCF+AA > (land) > (Missiles Hit) > Madwheel > QCF+MxxM > j.QCF+AA. Both of the grenades have to be cancelled into the air hypers btw. This only does about 850k if fully mashed, but can still kill or nearly kill a significant portion of the cast.
-Deadpool’s “Cutting Time” QCB hyper is one of few that leads perfectly into Doom’s “Sphere of Flame” DP hyper. A DHC between the two in a combo can do at least 750k off of a Deadpool.
-Doom can also DHC back into Deadpool easily. Ending a midscreen air combo with Doom’s finger lasers into Deadpool’s HHT (QCF) hyper is a safe way to get Doom out and do about 845k in the process.
[
]Strider
-Vajra is the only useful Strider assist, but is possibly Deadpool’s BEST assist for zoning purposes. It keeps the opponent locked down at any place on the screen. This allows Deadpool to take advantage of his projectile game without worrying about most opponents getting around them and hitting him.
-Pineapple surprise, a generally avoidable projectile against most characters vs. a solo Deadpool, is significantly buffed with the use of Strider’s Vajra. Throw a grenade and call vajra. If the enemy attempts to jump up to avoid the grenade, vajra will force them back down into it and they will eat the chip damage of both the assist and grenade. If they are hit by the grenade, strider can combo off of the hitstun of the grenade into a hard knockdown, which can lead into a Kata/Chimi to a full 650k or so combo. If they backdash to avoid Vajra, they are susceptible to getting hit by a gun special into a teleport mixup due to having to remain grounded to backdash. The final option is to simply chuck another grenade at the opponent while strider locks them down to make sure it’s 100% safe to throw the grenade.
-Vajra in general can generate a hard knockdown off of any aerial hit on the opponent. Deadpool can combo off of the knockdown with DP+HxxH and finish the combo for a full 600k+ combo. Strider also has significant synergy with Doctor Doom as both of Doom’s standing medium and hard normals can OTG off of the vajra knockdown with ease into a full, damaging combo. Because of the fantastic synergy between the three, Deadpool/Doom Missiles/Strider Vajra is one of Deadpool’s strongest teams in terms of zoning.
[]Dante:
-Jam Session is Dante’s Commando to Deadpool’s Cable. Being the only strong pillar assist in the game comparable to Captain Commando’s in Marvel 2, it’s a good GTFO tool for zoning. Its only flaw is against teleport characters that can get behind Deadpool and Jam Session. However, this is not a great concern as other precautions can be taken to deal with teleport characters. The key to making Jam Session work is very smart and precise assist calling.
-Jam Session can also be used in Deadpool’s BnB to add an extra air S in the corner and sometimes midscreen. With the opponent cornered: c.LMHS > sj.MMHS > (land) > DP+HxxH > backdash > A1 > s.S > sj.S(assist hits)S > (land) > QCF+MxxM > QCF+AA. Does around 643k fully mashed.
-Weasel Shot can be used to lock down the opponent for zoning in addition to being used to approach and attempt to score lows or an overhead on unsuspecting opponents. The most notable use of Weasel Shot is by Deadpool/Date/Felicia player Damian, and it is suggested that for further learning on how to use the Weasel Shot assist, Damian’s tournament videos should be watched.
[
]Akuma:
-Tatsu is the only assist Akuma should be using in conjunction with Deadpool. In a combo, calling an Akuma tatsu assist after a katanarama OTG allows Deadpool to use another OTG later on in the combo. This combo is best used in the corner for ease, but the Katanarama can be cancelled into a teleport to follow the path the Akuma assist carries it in for a relaunch oppertunity. It goes as follows (in the corner): c.LMHS > sj.HS > (land) > A1 > DP+H > (Tatsu Hits) > s.S > sj.HS > (land) > DP+HxxH > (wallbounce) > DP+MxxH > QCF+AA.
-Tatsu’s high priority over many moves and invincibility to normal projectiles makes him a perfect zoning partner for Deadpool. Tatsu can lock the opponent down and push them back so that Deadpool can either retreat and chuck some more bullets and projectiles, or score a mixup while the opponent is locked down.
[*]Sentinel:
-I need more experimenting with Sent, but Zeohawk seems to be the best example of Deadpool/Sentinel in addition to Tatsu, although Tatsu’s focus is more on X-23 than Deadpool. Information will be added to this as I experiment with the character combination more.

I started writing this at 12 AM for the heck of it and the got obsessed and it turned into 2:30 AM. Forgive any typos or notation mistakes, I’ll fix them in the morning.

I’d add Unibeam to that list if assists, otherwise I’d agree 100%.

Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2

Oh my bad I did forget Unibeam, thanks for reminding me. I was looking into iron man before i settled on strider and Deadpool/Iron man is pretty solid if you have a really strong anchor (or amazing iron man).

Finally got some good gameplay up of my new team. It may be online but it was some pretty solid playing overall. I’m starting up a “Deadpool TV” series about using Deadpool as a character in UMvC3. This and the previous episode have both simply been some gameplay from ranked matches online, but the next episode I plan on doing team composition theory and such for Deadpool on point.

Hiya. I don’t play Deadpool currently, but he’s really badass, and one of the most fun to watch. And the character’s amazing. Anyway, I have a link for you all. I like it, I think other Deadpool fans would too. Enjoy!

Anyway, I have nothing else to contribute. Bye, all!

I really like the double teleport combo, and the Kubota escape gives a big window of opportunity for it. Personally, I like to end it with teleport, but you might have used grenades for demonstration purposes. The “Madwheel Special” has changed Deadpool’s laughable damage to some serious shit.

Oh, and the “Deadpool TV” series is really fun to watch. Your Deadpool style is hilariously similar to mine, except you’re way more deliberate with your guns and you use bolos (and convert off them) a lot more than me.

This would be great. Good Deadpool play is hard to come by. I mean you have Rei Chan, and that’s about it. As far as Megaman Steve and Tatsu, I believe they both dropped the character a
long, long time ago.

As far as Realpolitix…is there any footage of you I can watch? You were mentioned among the good players to watch, but I can’t find any of your actual match footage.

edit: How on earth are you guys able to do Guns xx Teleport into a full combo? I’ve practiced it many times in training mode and have not been able to get it to work.

Spoiler

The video above is pretty dated, but it’s my most recent one that shows decent gameplay of my team. My Deadpool/Doom synergy is much better these days, but the zoning is pretty much the same.

Guns xx Teleport works for me when the guns are cancelled early, in which I simply do cr.L > st.M > cr.H > S.

just wondering is deadpool’s Beta assist a low hit like weskers? or no?
