Dictator matchup score chart!

One thing about Jeron’s list that catches my attention is his opinion on the Gen match. Dude has this match listed at 6.5-3.5 in favour of Dic. That is an enormous advantage (the same sort of pull-your-hair-out advantage that Guile has over Dic). Why exactly does Gen have it so bad?

He has no real answer for cr.lk scissor pressure on wake up without meter and even then it only resets the situation for the most part. That was in vanilla in ssf4 it’s the same but gen doesn’t build meter as fast.Knock the old man down and slit his neck with his aarp card.

Also, Gen stopped taking orders for his slapchops. Capcom screwed Gen players pretty badly.

Ok realistically Abel vs Bison is 6.5 / 3.5

and I changed my Chun vs Bison match up, I think it was just the hate I had towards her but she prob wins 6 / 4

I wanna post up reasons why but too sleepy now.

I play super sometimes, but vs all the new characters, just run from them and punish and use your guage wisely. Shits not that deep. I hope the arcade release is better

How will the arcade release presumably add depth to the game? scratches head

No, Abels regular rolls aren’t really meant to be an escape except in a few situations, like you could lk roll a jump in and then TT. Even then there are better options to handle jump ins, ex FS, cr. fp, and more. The rolls have vulnerability on start up so after a knock down it’s a major no no to use as an escape unless your opponent is a moron. Even Ex roll is shit for escaping after a knockdown because it’s beat by a simple OS throw in a jumping normal attack of your choice. It can be nice for escaping scissor kick pressure though even if it’s very possible for Bison to react and grab you as your roll by him. The best option ALWAYS for Abel in the match up is to block all day.

Bison tears Abel up on the ground with his pressure. Abels normal tricks that get him through pokes aren’t nearly as reliable. For example, Bisons st. hk can be focus absorbed and dashed though, or ex COD’d, but why would Abel do that when Bison has two special moves that are pretty damn safe to throw out which beat those options? So again Abel has to block block and block. The longer Abel blocks, the longer you keep him guessing with frame traps and throw mix ups, the more meter you build and the match will move in your favor. You can only block so much and guess right so much before you guess wrong.

With that said Abels advantages are that he has an OS off of forward forward, which makes it safe pressure. EX psycho crusher if blocked EARLY on in the move it can be punished with ultra or lp COD. Off the knock down Abel can beat almost all of Dics options with jumping mk OS lk roll.

5-5 Imo.

I’ve had a few chances to sit down with NinjaCW and play Bison vs. Mak and I believe she is a lot better than the early reports indicate. That being said she has some big weaknesses too. That command grab has a lot of start up and you can just throw if you think it’s coming. Once you score a knock down on Mak she doesn’t really have any way to stop c.Short/LK scissor pressure either. I’d agree with the 6/4 in Bison’s favor estimate.

I’m going to withhold my Bison match-up rankings because I’m pretty sure many will disagree with it (e.g. The Bison-Cody match-up is 9-1 Bison’s favor IMO, 7.5-2.5 if Cody chooses U2). But I just want to jump in and say that I believe Bison’s worse match-up is against Honda (6.5-3.5), followed by Guile (6-4). Because once you get in on Guile, it’s pretty free. But when you’re anywhere on the screen vs. Honda, you’re in pretty bad shape.

And I really don’t see how Abel or Akuma could have an advantage over Bison. But that’s just me.

abel bison 5-5
akuma bison 5-5
chun 5-5
everything else i agree jeron

Hey just cuz you can rape top chuns in the US doesn’t mean the matchup is 5-5 lol :stuck_out_tongue:

somebody please enlighten me to this mysterious sudden aversion of honda. It was one of the most flatout 5-5s in vanilla, afaik nothing gamebreaking for this MU was introduced in super. Why are people saying it’s lopsided now? Or are people just bitching for shits and giggles?

2 charge characters - capable of anti-airing each other effectively, chipping the other guy when he walks forward, and building meter from a distance…
if u go into the honda forums, ull hear the same argument that its in bisons favor lol

solution: tourneys should ban charge characters from ever having to play each other =)

Well people do develop there skills on a characters through time. Juri is mid-tier right now; she surely can jump a position or 2 on the list once people get to know how to play the match-ups better and develop there skills better using her.

Actually, I’ve run into a few good chun lis recently that made me rethink the matchup. Yea, her life bar is lower, but when she gets in on you her jabs lead to much more damaging combos with meter. She turtles well, and most of the damage comes after having knocked her down.

What makes it more in favor of dic for those that think so?

Ok im going to look at the scores posted, avegrage them out and post them up by tomorrow. As far as the chunli matchup goes I see why ppl say its in her favor or even but I have my own conception to why its slightly in Dic’s favor. I’ll go into detail on it another time.

Thanks guys for all of your inputs keep posting those scores!

My guess it’s a combination of a two things:
-The match up is boring to play, so people get impatient and give Honda the lead.
-Bison’s important tools in this matchup were slightly nerfed damage-wise, but Honda’s weren’t. Bison lost damage on short scissors and standing roundhouse, but Honda only lost damage on nj. fierce. This is slightly made up by the fact that Honda has 50 less hp.

In Super, Honda is definitely a much better character overall because Capcom barely nerfed his damage. I would agree that the matchup is probably unchanged, but I’m not sure I would say it’s flat out even.

chun need meter to do good when wake up, I feel dic need do well on chun mostly have to fed on untechable knockdown, for jump in or even Slide hit FADC 50/50 choice U2 guessing game. left or right? you guess wrong u eat a hell lot U2 from me :stuck_out_tongue:
(I do that sometime if I got meter and have U2 full)

most of her move will give dic some trouble if getting too obvious when attack, too much l.SK will get foot sweep (yip her foot sweep is godly in bison s.MK range,is very fast and unlike Ryu is not that easy to punish, you do too much knee press this will come out and beat next one you throw out, don’t need too much reflex but just getting too obvious.)

If very good chun can trap dic in corner, and have 2 or even 3 meter I think we have some problem now.
I don’t give chun li a crap about it when she have no meter, just bait out hasanch EX and EX upside-down tornado kick you should be fine, since range is in your favroite, s.MK distance will make her super fast Hyakuretsu Kyaku (EX or not) kind of pointless if they try to do it random, a EX PC will clean everything on it’s way.

so to beat chun easy, try not attack her when she got meter, try bait out those good EX move and whiff or defend, and continued pressure with godly s.MK range and drive her into corner and rape a hell out of it…chun jump is very floaty but her nice 2 hit jump in fix everything, she is kind of like bison somehow but much less ability on ground and add better anti air.

her walk speed combine with fireball is good too.

Based on my experience

Heavy Advantage Bison

  • Cody - Haven’t played too many good ones
  • Hakan - no oil, no worries. Pressure keeps him from oiling up.

Slight Advantage Bison

  • Gouken - once you’re in, you’re in
  • Dee Jay - haven’t played a good one
  • Dudley - no tools it seems
  • Viper - takes damage easily
  • Guy - stand fwd

Even

  • Gen
  • Makoto
  • Sakura
  • Ibuki
  • Juri
  • Ken
  • Ryu
  • Dhalsim
  • Adon
  • Blanka
  • Fei Long
  • T-Hawk
  • Abel

Slight Advantage Opponent

  • Vega - I’m not seeing how folks beat Vega. He definitely outpokes bison.
  • Seth - speed
  • Cammy - speed and damage
  • Sagat - damage
  • El Fuerte - mix up game + new ultra = smh

Heavy Advantage Opponent

  • Chun Li - better air to air, plasma spam, command mix up,
  • Balrog - the ones that turtle are really hard to beat IME
  • Rose - her stupid spiral/fwd/strong pokes are annoying.
  • Guile - y’all know this one already
  • Zangief - you can stand fwd/rndhouse with bad ones, but a good one won’t give you the opportunity
  • E. Honda - more damage

no doubt honda got better in super, but I don’t think any of his major changes actually affect this matchup specifically. The matchup analysis was also (imo) pretty mature in vanilla.

Aside from a slight dmg nerf for dictator, we also have PP now to shut down the full screen ochio whiff bullshit. Honda parking his ass on meter was a nightmare to deal with in vanilla. Ultimately speaking, it still boils down to dictator can’t afford to approach honda, and honda can’t get in on dictator. 5-5 imo, 4.5-5.5 to honda if you reaaallly stretch it.

I think bison players just are not used to playing against good hondas, much like how there’s a sudden surge of dislike for bisons in the balrog forums going on right now. A lesser used character is more popular, it shouldn’t be surprising to anyone that we’d be running into better players more often.
