Only super cancellable
lol I keep for getting I can fadc/cancel my slide.
^This!
no, as far as I can see, there is no point to being able to FADC it, aside from avoiding when it gets blocked or some kinda mind game.
has ANYBODY seen the video on the front page:

i was blown away by some of the bison stuff (especially vs poor Rose), until I saw the 86 on Sagat lol
looks like c.lk does an extra frame of hit stun. Either that or far s .lp is a frame faster. I’m sure you could not link c.lk to far s.lp in vanilla.
EDIT- well I tried to do that link from the video and can’t =x So maybe its the same.
What is the best way to do Bison’s 3 x cr.lk links? I’m having trouble timing this. Some insight would be appreciate
lol like you can’t even tell if something is another frame higher or not. You just have to practice c.lk x3 in training mode a lot. I personally double tap it. Some others single tap it and just know the timing. TAP TAP TAP… TAP TAP TAP… just keep practicing.
his cr.LP st.LK cr.MK xx Scissors is a really good damage combo you should also practice up on too.
I can do his other 1 frame combos just fine. I don’t know why I can’t do those 3 cr.lk consistent at all >.< I tried a huge variations of timing, tried double tapping nothing seems to improve my consistent with it >.<
The timing for me on this thing looks a lot like this:
+…+.+ xx sk. Not that I can do it reliably. Even if you do the exact same timing to a metronome it’s no guarantee it’ll work (I’ve done this to prove a point to a friend).
If you set lk to full turbo, most of the time the combo will come out flawlessly. However, once in every few, it will fail. Like 1/10. This tells me the timing on this combo is ridiculously bs to me. If a machine will fail to do it without a deviation in its pattern, that’s just nuts. Which annoys me because although I can get other bnb’s down, this is probably the best one to resort to if you want to get the first hit to stuff an opponent. It’s annoying.
I’d like to know how everyone else does it. How do you double tap this combo?
my method for linking c.lk x3/4 is to plink. something like this:
c.lk,c.lk~c.lp, c.lk~c.lp, c.lk~c.lp
gives me pretty good results.
on a side note, has anyone found any new combos that don’t involve his new ultra?
Turbo is not accurate at all. Even on lenient links it can screw up.
Honestly, just plink it. By plinking you are forced to not mash and (IMO) forced into a more consistent rhythm. Once you spend enough time plinking you’ll be able to do it “normally.”
Plinking, just to be clear… you’re not talking about double tapping are you?
Nah, plinking is when you hit LK immediately followed by LP. It’s sort of a glitch in the way SF4 sees/prioritizes simultaneous inputs, and basically allows you to be early by one frame but still hit the link.
From the plink thread:
So, if you look at the inputs of a plink for c.LKx2 … it’d look like this:
:d::lp::lk:
:d::lk:
:d::lp::lk:
:d::lk:
It’s worth nothing that you don’t have to let go of LK before you hit LP.
You can plink anything in the game except standing LK (it comes out as throw) and any LP (there’s nothing lower-priority to plink it with). So take Bison’s c.MP c.MK link. If you were to plink it, you’d see the following input:
:d::lk::mk:
:d::mk:
:d::mp:
s.LP c.MP s.RH would look like
:mk::hk:
:hk:
:d::lp::mp:
:d::mp:
:lp:
Make sense?
No. Plinking refers to a unique mechanic to the sf4 engine where you press two buttons almost simultaneously, so that the stronger input registers twice. For example, if you wanted to plink fierce, you could press fierce and then strong. If you do it correctly, the input screen on training mode would look something like:
:mp::hp:
:hp:
Here’s a video of plinking:
And here’s the thread on it: http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=186686
Double tapping refers to a common practice outside of sf4 where you actually press the button twice in rapid succession. Here’s a youtube video of it which should be self explanatory:

Typically, plinking is better for 1-frame links, because the game registers the inputs on two consecutive frames. When you double tap, the inputs are not guaranteed to be on consecutive frames, but you do still get two inputs.
It makes sense when you explain it in text but the pictures confuse the crap out of me.
For c.MP, c.MK you want me to hit the mp first, then follow it with mk immediately afterword. Then mk again, then mp? The picture make no sense at all. Hell the more I think about it, the example doesn’t either.
If I do that, the follow hit is guaranteed not to come out in my experience. Anytime a button is pushed between these links it’s way too damn late to hit the next one. This is why mashing doesn’t work.
Seriously, I feel fucking retarded. I mean, in your first example you’re saying I need to hit c.LK followed by c.LP. I’m somehow supposed to fit the following two c.LK’s taps afterwards? Not to mention~
:d::lp::lk:
:d::lk:
:d::lp::lk:
:d::lk:
Why am I seeing four inputs for two hits and punch is occurring before the kick? Am I the only guy on the SRK that doesn’t know this stuff? I have a feeling, once again, that this is something I’m going to have to see to understand. You must be doing some rapid fire button presses to fit those into two hits less than a split second away from each other.
I keep thinking this is like pianoing the keys, but I have a feeling it’s nothing like it from what I’m reading.
Inverse,
If you want to plink your example combo (c.strong, c.forward), you should be doing the following inputs:
- c.strong
- c.forward ~ c.short
For that second input, you want to hit c.forward JUST before c.short. And when I say ‘just before,’ I mean the buttons should almost be hit at the same time, but not quite.
This applies to every combo with a link in it. For example, the combo ‘c.jab, close s.jab, c.strong xx PC’:
- c.jab
- close s.jab
- c.strong ~ c.jab
- pc
Or the crossup combo, ‘c.jab, s.short, c.forward xx scissors’:
- c.jab
- s.short
- c.forward ~ c.short
- scissors
are you having trouble with cMP into cMK? Man, I am hitting that combo a HELL of a lot more in Super.
I don’t plink or double tap, mainly cuz i could never understand it until i saw those vids on the last page. Even now, i likely can’t use them, cuz I am a lowly pad warrior
I just time it properly. Try to hit mk as bison starts pulling his hand back in from the cMP (actually, I find its around the halfway point). It’s actually quite a slow combo (you can NOT press the mk right after the mp, you have to actually pause), just the timing is a filthy filthy hooker.

im still having trouble with this plinking …so musch so that i almost have c. lp s. lp c.mp pc down to a science and for some reason that practice with c.lkx3 paid off big time as i can almost hit them at will online and off im amazed at myself now all i need to know is how to properly do the scissor kick loop and ill be on my way to leveling up my bison…sadly i must wait till june to be the iron bison
I played today with a new local friend who showed me the whole plinking thing. It’s a lot stranger than even the descriptions you guys are giving make it seem. It’s not pianoing the keys, it’s almost, just almost a simultaneous button press. It might as well be to be honest. How this makes the combo work better I don’t know, but doing c.lk x3 by plinking with c.lp and c.lk seemed to work for some reason a lot better than I thought it would. On top of that it gives me throw protection.
Going to need a lot of practice, but it’s looking good. What isn’t looking good is me sticking to Bison, to be perfectly honest. I’ll always use the guy, no doubt. But after having an evening of local bouts, damn if these new guys didn’t get everything under the sun and more. Cody is a freaking machine. Thanks for the tips, I feel like I have something new to reach for in the training session beyond just messing up ultra inputs. This will level up my game, definitely.
Now~ this might sound weird, but someone mentioned this on the main board… but does anyone here feel like they have to delay the c.forward after a standing jab for it to come out compared to vanilla? I swear I can’t wait for the frame data to be released, cuz there are a lot of weird things with Bison these days. The cross up jumping forward putting him too far to follow up with close jab on certain characters is starting to annoy me too.
